We All Have Original Thoughts

Are you a sheep or a nude llama?

Here is an interesting article at Whitespace on thinking for yourself or a lack there-of. Scrivs also introduces his new book concept “I design in the Nude with Llamas”.

Personally I like to look at Earth as a place where everybody creates their own reality but at the same time we tend to agree on certain parts of reality. It’s just more efficient that way.

We each build on what others have already created. I drive a car that someone else designed and built. I created a blog with software created by someone else. I eat cereal for breakfast that was grown, processed, delivered and sold by someone else.

I put all these things created by other people together to create my life. It’s way simpler than building my own car and writing my own blog software.

The Interesting Part

Thoughts are no different. I constantly use thoughts, ideas, and behaviors I learn from others. The interesting part is taking a concept I learned from someone else and poking it, tweaking it, and pulling all the fur off it until it’s something new and different from what I started with.

I’ll admit that not everything I poke is going to end up being wonderful. But then again, if I share it with someone else, they may tweak it into something better. It’s a natural progression that has served humanity well.

Like Scrivs, we all have nude llamas roaming around in our head. It just takes a little self confidence or ego to admit it to others.
