Hot enough - Wicked Ties was better 4 out of 5 stars.

I bought this book after loving Wicked Ties and Decadent was a good read over a long weekend during Hurricane Ike. This is a different type of sex than we saw in Wicked Ties and while it was done nicely for the most part, none of the sex scenes in Decadent were as hot as those in Wicked Ties.

We met Deke (lead male character in Decadent) briefly in Wicked Ties, but the Deke in Decadent just did not measure up! He was the ideal alpha male in many ways - competent, brave, funny, absolutely no low self esteem issues. The sort of guy we want covering our backside in a firefight or in front of the fireplace with a bottle of good whiskey. And then you reach the last quarter of the book. For some reason I just don't understand, the author chose to turn him into a girly man complete with whining, immaturity and paralyzing self doubt. Why spend 250 pages tempting us to love the male lead and then in the last second turn him into the sort of boy no self respecting woman would want to spend her life with?

I will come back to Shayla Black in the future though.

I read the series to the end in hope of a night in shinning armour saving Beauty from a wicked world. But not. I skipped most of all 3 books to get to the end. In fact I probably didn't read half of either book.

I hope Rice never writes another book of this sort.

The ending was just as hot and wonderful as the beginning. This series is worth keeping as a collection item. I have not read anything this good since the Happy Hooker series. Anne Rice rocks!

I have read every book of the Kushiel series and have been so impressed with Carey as an author. To be honest, Phedre and Jocelyn were my favorite characters, but Imriel has steadily grown on me until in this, the conclusion of his story, I found myself on the edge of my seat, cheering him on, laughing, crying and hoping that the story would end well.

From the very first page I was drawn into the world of Terre de Ange and its citizens. I found myself reading at every opportunity, sometimes over a hundred pages a day. I have never been more drawn into a story the way that I've been with this series. Carey has such a way with words that it is impossible to not feel as if you know the characters. You laugh with them, cry with them, cheer them on and stay on the edge of your seat through the ENTIRE book.

I've seen on her website that she will continue with the Kushiel series, only it will be about a 100 years in the future. I'm sad to see this group of characters go. The only thing I would have liked to have seen was an epilogue. I wanted to see what the future held for Imriel and Sidonie, oh well, maybe she will touch briefly on it in her new triology.

A definite must read! I rated this 7 stars because I have read this series twice and it was just as enjoyable both times. This is the kind of book that stays with you long after you've finished the last page.

Two out of 3 stories anyways.

Sanctuary was a good story. Not the best but not the worst either. I guess it's because I'm not overly fond of complete submission type of drama. The scenes were hot but the storyline was a little "not my cup of tea". However I must admit that it was pretty well written in my standard. I did enjoy it just not into it. 3 stars for me

Wild Nights is more to my taste. I was very thrilled to know that Mike got his own story after me being extremely disappointed in Laci Burton last installment "Wild, Wicked, and Wonton". As much as I like Seth, I felt that it was a sad ending because Mike was left out of the equation. I wasn't disappointed for long was I? Thank goodness for that. Anyways, Wild Nights was a fairly awesome and well written story. The scene was sizzling hot and the ending was tearful. In a happy way of course. Wild Nights is actually the reason why I gave this rating a 4 star. If it was a stand alone, I would probably give it a 5 being that we would get more story out of it of course.

Purple Magic is the only story that I didn't bother finishing. I'm not saying that it started out horrible. I read the first 3 pages but then I found that it's not my type of read. If I were to continue just to finish it, I might give it a truely unbiased opinion. So I opt not to. I do enjoy reading paranormals because I am a fan of Christina Feehan,Nalini Singh and Karen Marie Moning and WAS a huge fan of Sherrilyn Kenyon but I don't think i can be a fan of paranormals eroticas. At least not yet. Maybe one day when I'm back into those vampire fetish zone, I'll come back and read this story. So I won't give this story a rating.

This was the first book I read of Shayla Black. And I am hooked. It's a nice blend of suspense and erotica. The characters were great. Great story line. I finished it within hours, I couldn't put it down.

This is my first Shayla Black book and I absolutely loved it. Her book, Wicked Ties was absolutely delicious!

Morgan O'Malley is being stalked by a dangerous and increasingly aggressive stalker. In steps Jack Cole as her bodyguard, an equally dangerous and an extremely aggressive sexual dominant who fires all of Morgan's hidden desires. After an attempt on Morgan's life Jack hides her in his cabin in the bayou of Louisiana, and sets about stripping her of all her protective layers until he finds the perfect submissive underneath. Slowly he breaks her down, making her crave him, just as much as he's craving her. While he helps her with her repressed sexuality, she also helps to heal him with his own issues and past betrayals.

Jack Cole is one irresistible dominant. He comes on hard, fast and aggressive with Morgan. He takes one look at her and just knows there is a wicked, wanton submissive inside her just dying to come out and play. He is as subtle as a Mack truck when it comes to getting what he wants and what he wants is Morgan, submitting to him. He's a firm master and he establishes that right away, but he is also very sensitive to her needs. He treats her with care, but due to his nature he's relentless. At times his bullheadedness in getting Morgan to accept her hidden, repressed sexuality was too much. For a moment I was like, "Enough already! Leave the girl alone!" Fortunately, once they get past it then it's quite a fun ride! The sex in Wicked Ties is very hot with a lot of emphasis on D/s. Jack pulls out all the toys for Morgan, velvet rope, vibrators, and his infamous playroom. There is also one hot menage scene that will leave you gasping.

While the sex and the toys is as hot as one can get, the most important thing Jack attacks is Morgan's mind. His voice is the thing that guides her during one of their sessions and it's extremely erotic. He's in her mind as much as he's in her body and it's what urges her on. Also, his French Cajun voice is incredibly sexy.

I highly recommend this book for anyone whose looking for strong emphasis on a D/s relationship or anyone struggling with repressed sexuality. How Jack slowly heals Morgan into honoring herself and her desires was very touching.

After reading Hidden Agendas by Lora Leigh, which was eh, I was intrigued enough to pick up this title. The book description was interesting... and totally misleading.

The basic story seems innocuous enough: boy wants girl, thinks he's she's too young, goes away, then returns years later to fulfill their fantasies. However, there are quite a few issues with this book that bother me on a very intrinsic level.

Issue#1: Rowdy and Kelly are step-siblings. I'm sorry, but to me this reeks of incest. Even if they are not related by blood, they are still siblings.

Issue#2: Kelly has just survived a near-miss sexual assault, where a man broke into her house and attempted to sodomize her. So the first thing Rowdy does after finding out about this is make a heavy-handed pass at her. And she is okay with it. Okay, maybe I'm not a licensed therapist, but this doesn't seem right to me.

Issue#3: Rowdy - even though he loves Kelly - has always planned on sharing her with his two cousins, with whom he has pleasured many ladies. Maybe I haven't read enough Lora Leigh, because I've recently found out that a number of her books have menage themes, but if you're not expecting it, it's a huge shock, and there really should be some warning in the book description of the sexual context of this book.

As if all this weren't enough, there's supposed to be some suspense in this book featuring the man who attacked Kelly, but it really gets drowned out in all of the emotional turmoil and excessive badly written sexual scenes. If you're looking for a romance, look elsewhere. This is just bad erotica with little to no real chemistry.

Good venture into a female focused sex book 4 out of 5 stars.

While there are things I would like to see expanded in this book and a poor choice of Wikipedia for some of the information, it is a good book that looks at sex as something far more than penis-vagina intercourse. The focus of this book is on making sexual intimacy primarily about female pleasure with the idea that penetration then may follow and indeed sexual encounters increase when the woman is very well pleased with her partner (male or female). The language of the book is more appealing for men I strongly suspect but then men are the target audience. As long as the reader does not see the book as a step by step list of activities he must do and considers the questions and underlining goals, he'll get good use of the book. Sadly as a scholar the use of Wikipedia instead of peer reviewed studies of human sexuality or anatomy automatically knocks off a star for me in the review.
