This book has its pros and cons. On the one hand, it has an incredible amount of practice problems (organized by chapter) and is well organized in that topics and practice problems specified for "just BC students" are well marked(However, arc length is on the AB syllabus, not just BC as this book says it is). The book also provides four practice tests for both AB and BC, more than you will find in any other Calculus prep book.

However, many of the practice problems found in the "end of the chapter practice problems," as well as in the practice tests, are not representative of questions that have come up on previous AP exams. In my AP Calc class, we did every college board released multiple choice section since 1978 as well as every free-response question given in the past 10 or so years. Though the practice tests given in this book are okay, and will provide good practice, it is evident Barrons did not do enough research into the AP Calculus exams themselves. Many of the problems (though not all), are either too difficult, or simply too different from questions that you will actually encounter on the AP test to be very helpful.

I gave this book three stars because it CAN be helpful if used as extra practice-- as a supplement to any in-class preparation. However, I strongly discourage purchase of this book if you 1. don't have a good foundation for most of the calculus topics or 2. aim to self-study for the exam. As already noted in previous reviews of Barron's AP Calc prep books, their subject review is hard to understand, muddled with confusing language-- Barron's simply makes no attempt to simplify their explainations. Furthermore, their "answers explained" sections at the end of practice problem sections and practice tests are short, often only one sentence long, rendering them useless most of the time.

The last complaint I have for this book is that Barron's provides no "AP scoring chart" for you to self grade and find your corresponding AP grade (1-5) at the end of a test. Granted, the other calc prep books I've looked at don't either, but it's an annoyance to not know where you stand after taking a practice test for 3 hours.

For those looking for better topic review, I would try Peterson's "Master the AP Calculus AB and BC" book. I hear the authors review is simplified and easier to understand for someone not so familiar with the material. For those who are familiar with the material and who want extra practice, this book isn't half bad, it is well organized and has unlimited practice problems--just don't get scared off by some of the tougher problems. The best practice, however, is past AP exams. Ask your teacher/school if they have any of them; if not, they're available on collegeboard.

The totally restructured SAT college entrance exam that became effective in 2005 includes an entirely new and very important Writing Test, which consists of two main parts. First is a 25-minute period during which students must write an essay on a given topic. Later, students must answer multiple-choice questions that test their skill in correcting poorly-written sentences, finding mistakes in grammar and usage, and correcting mistakes in the first-draft version of a student essay. This manual familiarizes students with all aspects of the SAT Writing Test and presents review chapters and questions with answers that are designed to hone test-takers' skills. Also included is a helpful overview of the Writing Test and details on how student essays are scored. This manual presents five writing tests. The first introduces students to the test's format and the following four are similar to the actual SAT writing test in length and question types. I absolutely loved this book! It was worth the money that i paid for it. I just took the ACT yesterday, and this book helped me out tons! This book is great for those of us who needs a review that is to the point. It actually gives you a review (it tells you how to actually work the problems) that is straight and to the point. I loved this book. I highly recommend it to those who are looking for a study guide for the ACT. This helped me so much on the test.

The Face of Eternity and the Mind of God 5 out of 5 stars.

By most accounts Thornton Wilder (1897-1975) considered himself a teacher rather than a writer--a curious situation given than he won numerous literary awards, including three Pulitzers. Among these prize-winners was OUR TOWN, first staged in 1938. It is generally considered to be the single most famous play written by an American author, and Samuel French Inc., which holds the amateur performance rights, states that it is performed at least once a day somewhere in the world, as popular abroad as at home.

The play is perhaps most widely known for the way in which it is staged. The stage is bare. A few chairs, stools, tables, and ladders are used to indicate a kitchen, a bed room window, a soda fountain, a cemetery and other locations; the actors mime use of imaginary glasses, plates, bowls, satchels, and boxes.

The story is equally simple. The first act introduces us to the town, Grover's Corners in New Hampshire, seen in the early years of the 20th Century--and most particularly to the Gibbs and Webb families, who live next door to each other. The second act finds boy-next-door George and girl-next-door Emily marrying, and a flash-black shows the audience how their romance began. It is a simple tale, full of details of small town life, church choir on Wednesday night, milk delivered fresh each morning, breakfast to be made, chickens to be fed--and slowly, as the action moves forward, we are drawn into this simple way of life and its seemingly endless and trivial repetitions.

Wilder swirls a number of themes throughout the work, themes that are simple yet profound, details of the particular and the universal--and these gather suddenly, unexpectedly in the third and final act, which comes as a shock after the charming ease of the play. Emily has died in childbirth and she takes her place in the cemetery among the dead, all of whom patiently wait and watch for something which is not yet clear, the minutes passing one by one into eternity, their memories of life fading into nothingness, a portrait of darkness that is yet somehow still seeded with light. It is here that Wilder makes his ultimate statement: who are you when you have been shorn of all earthly details and devices? Where do you exist within the mind of God?

Many non-theatre people find playscripts difficult to read, and in truth playscripts are a blueprint for directors and actors and not intended as reading material for the general public. This is preface to the very basic statement that some plays "read" well and some do not--and that this is not necessarily an indication of how the play actually performs. On the page, OUR TOWN reads a bit flat; it seems a shade obvious, a shade ordinary. On the stage, however, it easily one of the most delicately beautiful constructs imaginable, a play which demonstrates the beauty and value of each life--no matter how ordinary it may be. Remarkable stuff and strongly recommended.

I study the book from front to back and the pretest was nothing like the test. the test had nothing to do with nursing but I did recieve the book in a very timely manner and I was pleased with Amazon.com

Awesome resource to use prior to taking the NLN Nursing Entrance Exam. Very easy to read and understand. The answer key is very helpful because it explains the correct answer. The review and/or helpful hints in each introduction prior to each section of the exam was easy to follow. I recommend this textbook to anyone preparing to take the NLN Nursing Entrance Exam.

i just took the NLN yesterday and before we start, our instructor (head of the nursing dept) told us they just came out with a completely NEW test this Fall and i knew it was a bad news. the vocabularies in the book adds up to 9 pages long when i typed them up, i studied those words day and night. so when i opened the exam booklet--- NOT one word was on it. i was like omg i should have studied a SAT book for preparation and not relay on this book by M. McDonald. besides that the passages were easier than the ones in the book, same thing with math, it's easier. but for science, you really have to know what you've learned, this book didn't help much either. overall, look for a different book this book is way too outdated. don't waste your money and time studying it and end up going through what i went through. i've learned my lesson and i guess i'll waste another semester just to take the NLN again. Good luck to all of you, we all fight hard for this.

This book is a study guide with additional questions. While that information is helpful, I wanted the solutions manual for the problems in the associated Managerial Accounting book.

Most study guides have ANSWERS for the problems that are in the TEXT, as well as additional material. This had completely different problems (with answers). So it didn't meet my expectations and I returned it. The publisher's website has a sample chapter from this study guide, which I found after I'd bought/returned this book. I advise looking at the sample chapter so you know what you're getting.

This workbook really helped me prepared for the types of questions that are found on the tests. The book's examples and problems are very helpful for learning the material, but they are not the types of questions that you will find on the tests. This workbook will prepare you for those types of questions.
