Huge Becky Kelly Fan! 5 out of 5 stars.
34 of 34 people found this review helpful.

The first time I saw Becky Kelly's artwork was on a Hallmark card, and instantly I was a fan! What I really love is the small journal that is included. It gives you the time frame of when your baby's teeth will come in and their names. The journal then goes on to what date your child lost their tooth, how was it lost and what did the tooth fairy bring! The kit also includes a light yellow tooth pillow, and small draw string back to keep it all in, if you do not want to keep it in the box.

The Tooth Fairy Kit Is The Greatest Gift For A Child Loosing A Tooth! 5 out of 5 stars.
18 of 20 people found this review helpful.

I recently purchased three Tooth Fairy Kits,
beautifully illustrated by Becky Kelly,
one for my friend Dawn Dowgiallo Hartson's
daughter, Meghan & one for my friend, Ann Wood's
daughter, Mae who had just lost a tooth.
I mailed it to Meghan & Mae, and to their delight
they were thrilled and overjoyed to receive
this as a gift. Often times, when a child looses
a tooth, it can cause a worry or two, but if
they receive this gift, it brings on a comforting
meaning & dimension to those children that
loose a tooth. The kit contains a tiny yellow
silk pillow, a white organza pouch and a journal
to record when the Tooth Fairy visited.

Editorial Review:

The magic of childhood transitions comes out with that first lost tooth . . . and the Tooth Fairy. This kit captures that magic and sets the tone for fun and memorable times for the whole family.

Most importantly, my wife liked it!! 5 out of 5 stars.
7 of 7 people found this review helpful.

Yes...that is what really matters and when I brought it home she fell in love with the pictures and stuff. It is a 'best of' book for expecting fathers. The jokes are actually funny, the stories are great and very well written. I recommend it highly for first-time expecting Daddies like myself and all other Daddies too.

Editorial Review:

Welcome published The Little Big Book For Moms in April 2000. Now in its fourth printing (150,000 copies in total), it has been a bestseller for everyone. For Spring 2001, there will be a new Little Big Book filled with stories, poetry, activities, recipes, and songs: The Little Big Book For Dads. All the selections are made with a dad, not a mom, in mind. There are outdoor activities and jokes, even tongue twisters and riddles. Kids can learn to juggle with marshmallows, make one-eyed sailors for breakfast, create electricity with balloons and identify insects, birds, leaves, and stars. With text by writers as diverse, as funny, and as profound as Bill Cosby and Gordon Lightfoot, Shel Silverstein and Kenny Loggins, Ogden Nash and Dr. Seuss, and illustrated throughout with early twentieth-century art from artists including Jessie Willcox Smith, Randolph Caldecott, and Kate Greenaway, this 352-page charm of a book is something special and sweet for dad to share with his little ones.

There’s something tender, sacred and very special about family traditions. Some are inherited from past generations, and some are born within your own family. Either way, traditions create closeness and seal the ties that bind families together.

In Creating Family Traditions, Gloria Gaither and Shirley Dobson share their own ideas that will help make meaningful, long-lasting memories throughout the years to come. It’s packed with easy-to-do, fun-filled activities for holidays and special occasions through all the seasons of the year, and can be enjoyed by all, from toddlers to grandparents. This is the second book in the Let’s Make a Memory series.

Story Behind the Book

We believed that the best memories aren’t necessarily made of grand plans, vacation budgets or whole weekend outings. Indeed, the best memories are often made of delight in silly, simple things, and the most precious moments are just that – only moments: a hug, a tickling match, a pillow fight, a surprise stop for ice cream, or a detour from the ordinary to see the stars. This collection of ideas is meant to be just that – ideas. They may make you think of even better ways to create traditions, but these are places to start. May we all hold each other a little more closely and remember “home” a little more fondly because of ordinary days made holy by the sacrament of loving.

Trelease extra light...but very worthwhile for parents with 0-3s 4 out of 5 stars.
7 of 7 people found this review helpful.

Like Mem Fox's Reading Magic: Why Reading Aloud to Our Children Will Change Their Lives Forever, Reading with Babies, Toddlers, and Two's lacks the data and references of Jim Trelease's The Read-Aloud Handbook: Sixth Edition (Read-Aloud Handbook) BUT is a great, friendly introduction to how and why to read aloud to your child and why you should start as young as possible. More importantly, it includes many thematic lists of books for children in the 0 to 3 age range. The lists are what make this book so useful as most booklist books are most solid in the elementary school range, with some (too few) selections for kindergardeners and preschoolers. (The exception to that is Kathleen Odean's Great Books for Babies and Toddlers: More Than 500 Recommended Books for Your Child's First Three Years.) For busy, tired parents, a faster, lighter read than Trelease is welcome though I'd recommend reading Trelease later for more details and data and for his Treasury of read alouds.

Editorial Review:

Research shows that the number of different words a baby hears each day is the single most important predictor of later intelligence, school success and social competence. But what exactly should you read when?

- What do you buy after you've bought Goodnight Moon?
- Why should you read to a baby who can't even sit?
- How are you going to read to a baby who just found his feet--and won't stop trying them out?
- How often should you read to your baby to make sure she's ready for preschool?

Whether you're a new parent or grandparent, sibling or friend, aunt or uncle, Reading with Babies, Toddlers and Twos is the definitive guide to choosing, reading and loving books together.

Great ideas for parents 5 out of 5 stars.
8 of 8 people found this review helpful.

I admit that I'm not the most creative person at coming up with games to play with my 10 week old son, and this book has been inspirational for me. The ideas about how to teach your baby about where his foot is, or how to sit up, or that bubble float, are terrific, and the look on his face when I do something the book recommends is just pure joy! My only recommendation is that you stay at least one month ahead, and do things from that month which you think your child is ready for.

Best Book on our shelf 5 out of 5 stars.
7 of 7 people found this review helpful.

We have a library of books to help us understand what we can do to best understand and stimulate our childs growth/development(i.e.- What to expect series, Brazleton, Baby book, etc). This is my favorite book since it covers what to expect each month (vs. grouping 6-9 mos developmental stage). In addition it has great ideas for games and play and is very easy to read. Only warning is that relative to other books this book generally is a bit aggressive in its projected milestones (assumes baby will crawl at 6 mos).

Editorial Review:

Discovering the Senses and Learning About the World. This series provides vivid descriptions of how children see themselves, learn language, learn to play imaginatively, and make friends. Specific situations describe and advise on routine problems and concerns common to that particular age.

I am a stay at home Mom and didn't find the books useful. If I was a teacher it would be great. I was looking for activities to do with my child but it is mostly activities that can be done in a classroom.
