My friend is using this book!!! 4 out of 5 stars.
6 of 6 people found this review helpful.

I sent this book to my best friend who is expecting Triplets next year. I went to visit her the other day and found this book (with oodles of page flags) on her coffee table. She says that it is one of the 2 most helpful books she has gotten on her multiple pregancy-- the other being a buying guide. I scanned through the book and it is all about how to do things effeciently for parents of triplets. It really just gives you the advice you need for doing everyday baby tasks with 3 babies at once from diaper changes to feedings to taking a shower when you're alone with 3 babies! For instance, one piece of advice was to change all diapers at once- even if only one is dirtied as it helps establish a managable routine for the parents. Another thing I liked is that the information is provided in bullet, short paragraph style and the points are made in a concise manner. I am sure that is handy as parents of triplets probably don't have much time to read! She said that this is definitely a must for new parents of multiples! It gives you a heads up on those little things that can be so difficult when multiplied by three that one wouldn't even think of on the front end. I'm proud that I gave her the right book!

GREAT BOOK! 5 out of 5 stars.
30 of 30 people found this review helpful.

I can't believe nobody has wrote a review for this book! I first bought The Breastfeeding Book by Martha and William Sears. That book was boring and awful. They are negative people. I had already read The Everything Pregnancy Book and The Everything Baby's First Year Book and LOVED them both so I decided to buy this book. I couldn't put this book down. The information in this book is very helpful and I still look back in it. My baby was in the NICU and her first night she was fed formula in bottles. The second day she was fed my pumped breast milk and formula because my milk was still coming in. She got used to the bottles and made it VERY CLEAR she was not interested in learning how to latch on. I use the nipple shields made by Medela so I can breast feed my baby. Even though I use the shields I still have questions and this book answers them all! You WON'T regret buying this book!

    Editorial Review:

More and more women are choosing to breastfeed their babies. Yet many new mothers are surprised to find that nursing does not always come easily. The Everything Breastfeeding Book is packed with time-honoured advice on every aspect of breastfeeding from comfortable nursing positions and how to manage discomfort, to lessons on expressing, milk storage, and how the father can help.

No matter what anyone says, breastfeeding is not always easy. There were times during the first couple weeks of breastfeeding that I thought that I would give up. This book saved me!! I only read the parts that I needed, and I felt encouraged. I would recommend this for any mother planning to nurse!!

Hugs and smiles and playtime: If only parenting 2- to 5-year-olds was this simple. But any parent of a toddler or preschooler knows that it also often requires dealing with whining, tantrums, "no, I won't" and other generally naughty behavior that tests the limits of your ingenuity and patience. How can parents balance nurturing behaviors that demonstrate love and affection with the discipline all children need to learn and thrive? Common Sense Parenting of Toddlers and Preschoolers shows parents how discipline can be more about teaching than punishment and more positive than negative for both you and your child.

    Included in these pages:
How to set reasonable expectations based on your child's age, development, and abilities
How to use a parent's version of "show and tell" to both prevent problems and correct misbehavior
How to use praise like a compass, helping your child stay on the right path
How to create plans for staying calm for you and your child
How to use consistency, consequences, and practice to help your child learn what you expect of him or her
How to celebrate special rituals and everyday routines as cherished family traditions

I purchased this for my husband as a joke after we found out we were pregnant, but we have both found it has some very helpful advice. The diagrams are funny and we've enjoyed the book. It's a nice change from some of the strictly factual books that can get tedious.

    Editorial Review:

Parents record every milestone-from the first smile to the first day at school-in a child's baby book for posterity. Thanks to best-selling author Judith Levy, adoptive parents can now express their joy and love for a child in a baby book created especially for them. Our Chosen Child omits the traditional space for recording details about the pregnancy, labor, and delivery, highlighting instead the special preparations adoptive parents make and the excitement and anticipation they feel.In Our Chosen Child, adoptive parents can record family history and all the milestones of childhood through high school graduation. Additionally, Our Chosen Child includes the milestones that an adoptive family achieves. A page entitled "Waiting for You" acknowledges the many steps along the journey to becoming an adoptive family, such as completing a home study and getting references. On the page entitled "When We First Saw You" parents can capture the special moment when they first meet their intended child, whether as a newborn or as a five-year-old. The happy memories of the day the adoption is finalized are recorded on the "Adoption Day" page. Each page features original poetry by Judith Levy, such as this loving dedication: "You had a journey to make, A trip to come through, To parents who were praying, And waiting for you." Judy Pelikan's tender illustrations grace every page, making this book a beautiful keepsake. All adoptive parents will want to complete this treasury of memories for their own "chosen child."
