Editorial Review:

Babies need it, parents want it-- the call for a good night's sleep has parents everywhere looking for a solution like this: an easy-to-follow plan from a renowned baby sleep specialist that delivers on the promise of its title.

There is no bigger issue for healthy infants than sleeping through the night. In this simple, straightforward book, Suzy Giordano presents her amazingly effective "Limited- Crying Solution" that will get any baby to sleep for twelve hours at night—and three hours in the day—by the age of twelve weeks old.

Giordano is the mother of five children and one of the most sought-after baby sleep specialists in the country. The Washington Post calls her a baby sleep "guru" and "an underground legend in the Washington area for her ability to teach newborns how to achieve that parenting nirvana: sleeping through the night." Her sleep plan has been tested with singletons, twins, triplets, babies with special needs, and colicky babies—and it has never failed.

Whether you are pregnant, first-time parents, or parents who seek a different path with your second or third child, anyone can benefit from the Baby Coach's popular system of regular feeding times, twelve hours of sleep at night and three hours of sleep during the day, and the peace of mind that comes with taking the parent and child out of a sleep- deprived world.

The ultimate guide to baby sign language, with color photos and 200 signs!

You can hear -- your baby can hear -- so whatÆs the deal? Every parent knows how frustrated -- how enraged -- babies become when they canÆt make themselves clear to their families. But now, before they can talk, they can tell you what they mean -- with signs!

Signing has taken the parenting world by storm. Why? Every parent is eager to give their baby the best possible upbringing, the least frustration, and the best head start for achieving in todayÆs driven, competitive society. Research (funded by the National Institutes of Health) has found that signing babies: talk sooner and have larger vocabularies; have stronger parent/child bonds; have less frustration, crying and tantrums; show more interest in books; engage in more sophisticated play; and have higher IQ scores. Now, what parent doesnÆt want that?

Baby signing has been featured on Dateline and Oprah. Teach Your Baby to Sign features photographs of babies signing, plus line illustrations of each sign. And it provides 200 useful signs -- more than any other book -- so parents can have a wide selection to choose from, along with stage-by-stage guidance so theyÆll know which signs to teach first and which to add as they and their baby become progressively more skilled and comfortable with signing.

A co-worker brought this book into work one day and we all had a good laugh. I ordered it shortly after reading it. Everybody I have showed it to has laughed hard and really enjoy it. Several people asked where I got it and plan to order their own copies.

Hilarious 5 out of 5 stars.

Wonderful! Nice to see feelings in print! 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Our first child, our son Wyatt, was stillborn and it has been the most devastating event of our entire lives. I bought this book after a fellow angel parent recommended it and absolutely loved it. It is so "nice" to see all the thoughts and feelings you have after losing a child right there in print. It makes you realize you're not going crazy, that those thoughts and feelings are legitimate, and that you are not alone. I carried this book everywhere with me and would highlight phrases that were personal to me. It really helped me understand the loss of our son and give me strength and courage to go on with our lives while still keeping his memory alive. I'm so sorry to those of you having to look at this book, but I hope it can help you as much as it has helped me.

Editorial Review:

The heartache of miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant death affects thousands of U.S. families every year. Empty Cradle, Broken Heart offers reassurance to parents who struggle with anger, guilt, and despair after such tragedy. Deborah Davis encourages grieving and makes suggestions for coping. The book includes information on issues such as the death of one or more babies from a multiple birth, pregnancy interruption, and the questioning of aggressive medical intervention. There is also a special chapter for fathers as well as a chapter on "protective parenting" to help anxious parents enjoy their precious living children. Doctors, nurses, relatives, friends, and other support persons can gain special insight. Most importantly, parents facing the death of a baby will find necessary support in this gentle guide. If reading this book moves you to cry, try to accept this reaction. Your tears merge with those of other grieving parents. You are not alon! e.

lucid presentation of latest infant development theories 5 out of 5 stars.
18 of 20 people found this review helpful.

Daniel Stern is a world expert on infant development and psychiatry, as well as an iconoclastic and creative theorist. This book is a lucid and poetic presentation of his theories, accessible to the layman and full of treasures for the professional. It is the form of a set of small vignettes from significant stages in the devellopment of a little boy, Joey. The poetry is necessary because much of the concepts refer to pre-verbal stages of development, and it works very well. This book is a good companion read to _The interpersonal world of the infant_ which presents the ideas from a technical point of view, with the supporting scientific evidence.

Editorial Review:

Every new parent desperately wants to know what goes on in the mind of a baby. Now a noted authority on infant development and psychiatry brings us closer than ever before to penetrating a your child’s consciousness. In alternating sections of evocative prose, representing the baby’s own voice, and explanatory text, Daniel Stern draws on the latest research findings to recreate the baby’s world.”

Parenting With Grace 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Trish's charming writing style makes parenting sound like fun, and problems solvable. The book is filled with insightful and sometimes humorous, sometimes touching, stories about her own family (she is mom to 4) and things other moms have told her.
She offers so many good things in this book, like Mommy Truth No. 5 "You will make mistakes", and goes on to write "I see true love and compassion in my children's eyes."
One chapter to put into practice is Discovering Camp Palooza: Finding Fun In the Everyday. If you have a question for parenting babies, answers are here. How to establish good relations with in-laws. Whether to work outside the home. This is a great book for new parents to read.

Sweet Baby Book 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

We were given this book as a gift for our first daughter and thought it would be sweet to get the same for daughter #@2!

Editorial Review:

Based on the popular bedtime story Guess How Much I Love You, My Baby Book is a delightful way to record and cherish the important events of your baby's first two years. Big Nutbrown Hare and Little Nutbrown Hare return to scamper through the pages, adding just the right touch of whimsy to this charming scrapbook. Divided into sections such as "Up and About" and "On Vacation," the book is enhanced by the well-known declarations of Little Nutbrown Hare. "Guess how often I fell over! Oops-a-daisy!" he says, balancing himself on a tree stump under "My First Step." Anita Jeram's soft watercolors and expressive line drawings are truly heartwarming without ever being saccharine, and the baby-book section ideas are refreshingly innovative. With ample room to record everything from baby's height and weight to the price of a newspaper on the date of baby's birth, and plenty of space to add photographs, My Baby Book is one of the best available. --Aimee Damann

Good info, but needs to be updated 3 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

For those who have read the "Girlfriends' Guide to Pregnancy", this is another great book to help us new and expectant moms get our heads around everything we need to do and prepare for. The shopping lists and online resources are very helpful. However, the information on some topics is a little outdated (this edition is several years old, and I'm not aware of a newer edition). I recommend the latest edition of Baby Bargains as an even more in-depth (and up-to-date) resource when you really get serious about starting your shopping.

€ Wardrobe musts and misses-for mother and child
€ Stocking the nursery and the rest of the house

Editorial Review:

Any parent who's been through the rigors of an infant invasion knows that the real poop, er, scoop, rarely gets recorded in those precious little keepsake books. After all, those books don't cover all the really gross and fascinating stuff that makes parents laugh, scream, and scratch their heads. The Inappropriate Baby Book, however, has the good stuff covered. A real baby book for real parents, The Inappropriate Baby Book offers a unique and hysterical way to commemorate those decidedly non-Kodak moments that compose the better part of the newborn experience. Herein, you'll find room to record such facts as:You were introduced to a rectal thermometer on this day: _______.The first person you peed on was _______.Your mom was embarrassed by breast leakage in the following places: _________.Your first poop happened on this day: _______, and was this color: _________.Now, that's the kind of information that should not be lost to posterity!Sure, babies are cute, but they are also stinky, sticky, soggy, and otherwise inappropriate. So don't sugarcoat the story-let The Inappropriate Baby Book help you tell it like it really is.The book includes an envelope affixed to the last page so that an inappropriate memento can be saved forever. (Or at least until the little angel's prom night!)
