Grain of Salt 4 out of 5 stars.

Kaplan's intro book isn't bad and it isn't great. It's a good overview before you really start digging into the actual LSAT questions. I felt that it got my mind warmed up as to what the LSAT would be like and gave me some basic tips to think over.

There's no way this should be your only study material, however it fills an important role. If you're studying on your own you should have some sort of book that gives you the basics of the LSAT...whether that be Kaplan, Princeton Review, Nova, etc.

I liked to think of my self study in several stages:
1. Intro to the LSAT
2. General logical reasoning and analytical skill development
3. Focussed practice on specific types of LSAT questions
4. Full preptests
5. Further focus on specific LSAT skill areas

This book does a decent job of addressing that Intro to the LSAT but alone it's not going to prepare you adequately to take the LSAT.

Kaplan 2 Real LSATs is a big help! 4 out of 5 stars.
26 of 26 people found this review helpful.

This book is essential for all prospective LSAT takers. It is superior to the LSAT Triple Prep by LSAC because it contains two real LSATs plus full explanations of each answer. The best approach is probably to use the Kaplan book first, and then use the skills you have learned with the Triple Prep tests from LSAC.

Don't bother 2 out of 5 stars.

This book is a disappointment. I took a free Kaplan test through my school, and it was the same one in the book. Most of the stuff is pretty explanatory, and you can learn more by getting a general LSAT book (I prefer Princeton Review to Kaplan). You don't get much out of only two tests. I would get the Princeton Review LSAT book and then buy real tests from LSDAS and try to find out why I got them wrong on my own. But believe them when they tell you the LSAT is important. It really opened doors for me.

Editorial Review:

Why not practice with the real thing? Kaplan's 2 Real LSATs Explained comes complete with two actual LSATs and detailed explanations for every answer.

  • Practice sets in each chapter.

Worst book ever! 1 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

Most of my complaints with this book have already been articulated by other reviewers, but just in case you need more convincing, I am another very unhappy customer. I bought this at a bookstore and deeply regret not having checked amazon for reviews, because it was a waste of time and money, as well as a detriment to my studying. The errors found were not things that could possibly be just me misunderstanding--they were blatant like the answer & explanation not matching any of the answer options given in the question. I couldn't trust their answers for anything, so I never knew if I was getting problems wrong or they were, so it was completely useless for trying to improve my performance. DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK!

Worth the money 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

I bought this book after taking the LSAT's a first time. There was only a little over a month until my next LSAT's so I was cramming the whole book into about a month. Well it worked, and the book was amazing. There are a few mistakes in the book, but there is a notice online that alerts you to these mistakes and gives you the correct answers. Also, online there is a comprehensive diagnostic exam that tells you your strengths and weaknesses electronically, a big help. The online syllabus that corresponds to the book is a big help to because it forces you to focus on a timeline. I would highly recommend this book. IT IMPROVED MY SCORE BY EXACTLY TEN POINTS!

Too Many Mistakes for a Test Prep!!! 1 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I have only gotten through the first 2 logical reasoning practice tests (13 questions each) and have found 3 serious printing and explanation errors. It has become increasingly difficult to have faith in this book which is 'allegedly' going to help me achieve better results on what I consider THE MOST IMPORTANT TEST I WILL TAKE CONCERNING MY FUTURE--something I do not take lightly. When the validity of Kaplan's expertise in test preparation is so blatantly off track within the first 70 pages of this extensive book, I stongly recommend Princeton--that is where I am heading right now. Where are the editors? They should be ashamed.

Practice for the LSAT (Law School Admission Test) with three complete, recently administered LSAT exams.
Official Prep Tests :
III ( Dec 1991 LSAT)
VI (Oct 1992 LSAT)
VII (Feb 1993 LSAT)

Extreme LSAT studying 3 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This book is one of the LSAT materials no longer for sale new. It contains old LSATs (old, as in before December 1995). The value of these tests is limited; if you were to study only three previous LSATs it would be best to take three of the newest LSATs. If you're doing all the old LSATs available then this book is one of the materials you'll need.

It contains PrepTests 2, 4, & 5 which correspond to October 1991, February 1992, and June 1992, respectively. As near as I can tell, you cannot obtain these tests from any other LSAT book (but testing companies may have them available for their students).

If you use these tests, use them early on in your practice. Work towards the newer exams as the date approaches the LSAT. If you're taking all 50+ LSATs available, you'll want at least one day off per week. So figure a maximum of 6 tests per week along with time adequate to review all your wrong answers and questionable responses. Count backward from the test and you'll have your study plan.

Great capstone to your LSAT review 5 out of 5 stars.
8 of 8 people found this review helpful.

If anything, I found many questions in this book to be *harder* than what I saw on the LSAT (I took it earlier this year). I think that this is best used after you've purchased some old LSATs and gotten into the rhythm of practicing the questions. Other than that, good guide and worth the price.

Good for us procrastinaters... 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

I agree with earlier reviewers that old practice LSATs are probably the best way to prepare. BUT, if you are presured for time as I was, this book works great for trying to cram in some studying in the month before your test date.

Editorial Review:

Prepare for LSAT success with the LSAT Exam Cram. Accurate, to-the-point content, strategies for successfully completing the three exam sections, and four complete practice exams make this study aid one of the most comprehensive on the market. compact, consice, coherent, and cheap 3 out of 5 stars.
15 of 15 people found this review helpful.

this is a decent little book. the organization is well thought out, and unlike other lsat guides i used, structured to aid in learning. the problems and questions are about as good (or bad) as the other books (it's best to also get actual testpreps from LSAC--actual past tests for practicing--they sell them here too i've noticed). this is a good book to pair with another book that specializes in your weak spot. all of these books, in my experience, are very similar in their strengths and weaknesses-- this one is very good for the price.

not a stand-alone, but a helpful guide 3 out of 5 stars.
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

I would recommend this book to someone who is wanting to narrow down their trouble spots and then move on to another source to tackle them. This book is excellent at helping you sort out your problem areas and gives questions that are about the same as those found in other test prep books. I found this, combined with a pile of prep tests availble from law services prepared me well for writing the lsat. I wouldn't suggest one use this book on its own and expect to get gleeming scores. It works great to a point, but another study aide is essential to compliment it.
