I purchased two test prep books for the FTCE General Knowledge Test. This was by far the better of the two. I was very familiar with the content, so I was mostly looking for the practice tests. This book has TWO full practice tests as well as smaller quizzes throughout the book.

I took the test and passed all of the sections in March 2008

All three of the multiple choice sections of the practice exams were VERY representative of the actual tests. Good prep!

I think that the front of the book (where they teach the content) is very good in this book, though I did not read most of it. But, comparing it to the other prep book for this test, it is much more comprehensive. So, if you need to brush up on the content, this looks like a good book from which to learn the material.

If you were only going to buy one book to prepare for the test, I would say this one will help you. I used this and the XAM book, and this one is far above the XAM book.

What can I say? It's a study guide for a test all Bio teacher wanna-bes gotta take. Not all that stimulating, unless you're really into the sciences. Still, it's useful for the praxis...and that's what it was made for.

I meant to rate it less, I would probably give it a four. It's good for what it is, a study guide. You'll have to have science text books to help you study. The practice tests are helpful but some are shorter than the actual length of the real test.
There are not many praxis II study guides out there so I'd definitely recommend this one.

I used this as a guide to prepare for the Praxis Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment test. It has a chapter called "Study Topics" which outlines what will be on the test. I went through the chapter and researched and studied each item thoroughly. I also read the other chapters which give advise on test taking. It has a practice test which was also helpful. Studying and preparing for the test took a long time and lots of work but it was worth it. I felt very prepared for the test and passed it on the first try.

I used this book to prepare for the Middle School Content Knowledge test. It lists all the topics covered and gives many practice questions for each subject area. It also gives detailed explanations of the answers.

I bought this book for the Middle School Social Studies PRAXIS. Although it had iffy reviews, I bought it anyway, and I'm so glad I did. This book does NOT have information to study, but it has an incredibly helpful outline of the possible topics on the exam. I used the outline and researched (with a textbook and online encyclopedias) basic info on the topics with which I was unfamiliar. In addition, this book provides a practice test, which gives you an idea of the scope and scale of the questions on the exam. If you're taking Middle School Social Studies, buy this book!
