Encyclopedia of Chart Patterns 4 out of 5 stars.
4 of 5 people found this review helpful.

The book is very good, perhaps so extensive, but it approach in detail all the formations some one can found in trading

Editorial Review:

In this revised and expanded second edition of the bestselling Encyclopedia of Chart Patterns, Thomas Bulkowski updates the classic with new performance statistics for both bull and bear markets and 23 new patterns, including a second section devoted to ten event patterns. Bulkowski tells you how to trade the significant events -- such as quarterly earnings announcements, retail sales, stock upgrades and downgrades -- that shape todays trading and uses statistics to back up his approach. This comprehensive new edition is a must-have reference if you're a technical investor or trader. Place your order today.

"The most complete reference to chart patterns available. It goes where no one has gone before. Bulkowski gives hard data on how good and bad the patterns are. A must-read for anyone that's ever looked at a chart and wondered what was happening."
-- Larry Williams, trader and author of Long-Term Secrets to Short-Term Trading

When is "I love this book" week? 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

It's great fun finding oddball days and weeks to celebrate in Chase's Calendar of Events. This is invaluable for libraries and radio stations. Besides telling you when National BBQ Day is, it also gives a few details about various holidays. I can't count the number of times I used this book during my years as a librarian. Often the information can't be found anywhere else.
I haven't tried the CD-ROM but imagine it would be convenient looking things up on Chase's using the computer. The book is well-indexed, so it's easy to use.

Too Technical for Me 2 out of 5 stars.
9 of 16 people found this review helpful.

The Encyclopedia of Trading Strategies is well written and is a good book if you are looking for something very technical and mechanical. I was disappointed with the book. I thought it would offer chart set ups or set ups per technical indicators. Instead, it offered codes, etc for setting up mechanical systems.

I liked, but it could be better 4 out of 5 stars.
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

I liked this book.
it presented many ideas and a right pragmatic approach to test a trading system.
I found tough the statistics part, but it's not an author's fault: it's statistics.
in the final part I found many repetition (many pages might be saved just writing: " hey, for this system we apply the same said at pag. xyz..").

Only two things remained a mistery to me (but I'm not much intellingent..): why didn't the author make any test for longer horizons? in the end, the strategies never approached a longer term trading strategy: usually the trades last few days.
maybe it's not worth? the author doesn't tell us

ah, and it's not an encyclopedia: why did he choose this name?
this is the second mistery...

Editorial Review:

The Encyclopedia of Trading Strategies is for traders who want to take the next step to consistently profitable trading. The authors--themselves seasoned veterans of the futures trading arena--pinpoint the trading methods and strategies that have been shown to produce market-beating returns. Their rigorous and systematic backtesting of each method, using the same sets of markets and analytic techniques, provides a scientific, system-based approach to system development...to help you assemble the trading system that will put you on the road to becoming a more consistently profitable trader.

This Is An Indispensable Business Writing Guide! 5 out of 5 stars.
76 of 80 people found this review helpful.

The use of Internet technology has made the effective communication of thoughts and ideas in a variety of formats and styles possible. Good Website design alone, however, does not assure that one's intended business message will get across as well as planned and hoped for. Good writing and presentation skills are also important factors to consider in the overall communication process.

Robert Bly has written The Encyclopedia of Business Letters, Fax Memos, and E-Mail to assist people to create a variety of important business correspondence that can be put to use in the office and online. Bly, the author of The Copywriter's Handbook, offers his readers some quick solutions to meeting many practical business correspondence needs. He provides plenty of samples throughout the book that cover a broad range of business needs, including correspondence with colleagues, vendors, employees and employers, customers, handling complaints and requests, making collections, and producing sales and direct marketing letters.

Readers will be impressed with the ease with which they can learn to create their own business letters. Following the guiding principles, samples, and instruction in this book will result in generating favorable responses in making sales, marketing products and services, issuing warnings for poor worker performance, making the firing of people much easier to accomplish (gulp!), terminating services, apologizing for poor performance, and many other tough real-life circumstances they are likely to face in the business world someday!

Bly offers some very helpful tips on customizing letters to meet specific circumstances such as time-sensitive communications, varying message tone, generating favorable responses with creative wording, and preparing correspondence intended for faxing and e-mailing. Bly cautions his readers by reminding them that once someone sends an electronic communication there may be no way to stop it from reaching its destination. Watch your words and emotions!

Readers will learn how to produce many top-notch communications for any purpose, including office correspondence, faxes, e-mail, newsgroups, and Website design use. This book will assist business people of all levels of experience to get any message across much easier with more confidence! This is an indispensable business writing guide. Look good in print and online! Highly recommended for novice business owners!

Editorial Review:

Excellent - clear and sensible 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I work with people who are at different phases of job and career development. This book is an excellent resource for all of them. I've even bought a couple of copies to lend to those who have not yet established a reliable income for themselves. It's a great tool and I thank you for writing it in a style that is accessible to so many different people.

Pre-graduation gift 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I found the author's advice to be instrumental in helping me craft a resume that has gotten results. In turn, I have given this book to several high school and college students. They all told me it was one of the best gifts they received and agreed how great it was to have this amount of information in one handy portable no-power-supply-needed reference.

A Must Have! 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This book is a must have for the job hunter. Bennett provided much needed guidance, as well as support and humor, to help me navigate what can often be a painful, disheartening, and time-consuming process. He writes exceptionally well, gives excellent advice, and points out the common job hunting mistakes that most people, including myself, make.

Editorial Review:

It's amazing the myths one can find in some resume books. Bennet explains why some of the most popular 'tricks' backfire more often than they work, and offers clear, smart strategies for creating resumes and cover letters that get people jobs.
