Great fun book for the younger set. Good to let them get a little crazy in this up-tight P C world!

Love it! 5 out of 5 stars.

This book is truly perfect for all ages! I bought it for my tween (10-14 yr old) niece and nephews but found myself reading the book all the time. I even had to buy another one for my coworker as a parting gift which was a big hit. Several other coworkers expressed interest in buying one for themselves! Absolutely love it :)

Great book! 5 out of 5 stars.

I ordered this book for myself and my kids. They thought it was the coolest book ever. I think I could have written most of it. I then sent a copy to my brother for his 35th birthday. He has two sons and they both enjoyed it.

Fun for Everyone 5 out of 5 stars.

The entire family has enjoyed this book and many have tried out some of the "suggestions". Even some rather staid members of the family - all in good fun.

Excellent birthday gift for a 10 yr old boy 5 out of 5 stars.

My sons LOVE this book. Lots of silly gross stuff perfect for boys. My 4th and 5th grade sons love this.

Editorial Review:

Arnold Schwarzenegger hasn't competed as a bodybuilder since he won the Mr. Olympia title in 1980, but he remains the sport's No. 1 icon. He hosts an annual bodybuilding contest in Columbus, Ohio, and allows a column to be ghost-written under his name in a muscle magazine. Today's bodybuilders may have bigger muscles than Arnold ever did, but everyone inside and outside the iron game gives him credit for exponentially broadening the popularity of physique training.

With this updated Encyclopedia (it was originally published in 1985), Schwarzenegger wraps his huge arms around the entire sport. He hits the history of bodybuilding, the champions (he's quite generous in his praise of predecessors, contemporaries, and successors alike), the training systems. Some of the information is more bodybuilding lore than science; for example, exercises are said to "expand the rib cage" or develop the "inner" or "outer" chest, all physiological impossibilities. But they're still good exercises, and the book includes every movement imaginable for every muscle group.

If you love the sport of bodybuilding, you'll want this book in your library, if for no other reason than to feast your eyes on the hundreds of photos of the best physiques in the history of the sport. And, in a pinch, the 800-page encyclopedia can fill in nicely for a missing dumbbell. --Lou Schuler

A Great Bodybuilding Book 5 out of 5 stars.
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

Having seen every issue of Musclemag International since issue #1, I didn't expect to see anything new with the Encyclopedia of Bodybuilding. I am happily surprised with the great content of this book. It really is an encyclopedia. With chapter titles like The Key to Anabolic Growth, Synthol and Bodybuilding in the Golden Years this is a great book for beginners and veterans alike. Intense routines and a walk down the memory lane of bodybuilding make this one of the best bodybuilding books ever.

Not on par with Arnold's Encyclopedia of BB this is better :D 4 out of 5 stars.

Musclemag is my favourite BB Mag, and Bob Kennedy has written many great books, so I had very high expectations from this book.
Let me tell you that, while it doesn't exceed my expectations it very well satisfy them.
It covers many grounds that Arnold's or Bill Pearl's Encyclopedia's didn't cover, Bob Kennedy is a great writer and publisher, this book is another testimonial for that fact.

oh my oh my oh my.... 5 out of 5 stars.
10 of 11 people found this review helpful.

SI's annual swimsuit issue is a highly anticipated delight for many afficionados of the female form.

This collection of photos of some of the most beautiful women on the planet features the body painting genius of Joanne Gair. These bountiful babes sure look like they are wearing some nifty swimsuits. NOT!

They are all as naked as the day they were born. Wow! I wish I had this to read back when I was in my teen years! Still enjoyable, even now.

The perfect gift for that straight male you know, aged teen to octagenarian. He will appreciate your exquisite taste.

Editorial Review:

In its annual Swimsuit Issue 10 years ago, "Sports Illustrated" first presented spectacular photographs of gorgeous models in swimsuits that consisted of nothing more than paint artistically and painstakingly applied to their bodies. These eye-popping optical illusions, created by make-up artist Joanne Gare and captured by the magazine's world-class photographers, have become a favourite feature of this wildly popular magazine. Now the editors bring together not just a complete collection of astonishing painted-swimsuit photographs, but also a series of vastly entertaining essays, stories, and column, some commissioned especially for this book - that trace the history of body painting and take readers behind the scenes as the Swimsuit shoots that are the craft's most modern and provocative application.

NOT for novices. I repeat--NOT FOR NOVICES. also...who edited this thing? 1 out of 5 stars.
3 of 14 people found this review helpful.

OK, so I'm itching to get into building my own bows. Step 1, head down to the local bookstore and get this book--I mean, do any kind of search on the subject, and it's the first thing you always find. And now, I've read it. And you know what? I'm even more confused than i was when i started.

Where should i even begin to complain about this $23 I will never get back? Well, let's start at jump street...The first and most glaring problem is, this is NOT an instructional book for the aspiring traditional bowyer, as I thought it might be--and as the back cover led me to believe. Rather, it is more of a sourcebook for those who already have a pretty strong working understanding of how to build bows. This is the book you ought to buy if you've already got a handful of bows under your belt; bows of different types and styles. I could imagine some bearded old Jim Bridger type sitting in his den, reading and re-reading it, with a hundred different bookmarks in it, and about 10 sentences highlighted on every page.

But if you are trying to learn how to build your own bow, and you don't know too much about it--by all means, DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE. This book uses shop talk about every other sentence, and from page 1, nobody ever bothers to actually define what all this shop-talk actually means. You kind of have to just try and infer from the context very crucial central concepts--like which side of the bow is the back, and which is the belly...or what string follow is, or about a million other things. Case in point, there is a section in the chapter on bow construction (chapter 1) where the author describes a "standard wood bending test." He explains how to put a standardized staff of wood in this little device to test its flexibility characteristics--they even show a picture of the little device (which you are to build yourself for this purpose)--but he NEVER ACTUALLY EXPLAINS HOW to build the device. G

All I'm left with, after reading this junk, is the hope that someday, after i read a few better books on the subject, and build a dozen or so bows of my own--well someday this book may be handy. As for now, if the power goes out and i need something to burn for heat, this is it. I just sit and scratch my head as i leaf through the pages, thinking, Oh that might make sense, if i knew what this word meant. Or, wow, I know what tillering is. I wish this damn piece of crap called THE BOWYER'S BIBLE actually detailed the process, such that i might actually be able to follow some step by step instructions on how to do so!

I just wonder who edited this book? How does a professional editor not realize that this book creates more questions than it provides answers?

Yikes.

Anyway, not to keep Amazon from getting any new business--if you know how to build a bow, and you want to see some interesting pictures of like 50 different kinds of Northwest Indian patterns you can paint onto your work--or if you feel like looking at pictures of bows some guy made out of junk wood, or reeds, or broken arrows, well this is the book for you!

As for me, the search continues.

Editorial Review:

The Traditional Bowyer's Bible series includes three essential volumes filled with history, humor, and practical advice. Invaluable information for anyone interested in the age-old lure of archery.

The Kingfisher Illustrated Horse & Pony Encyclopedia 5 out of 5 stars.

This was a wonderful book for a person who loves horses and likes to see different pictures of horses and ponies. My niece loved it so much she actually sleep with it the firsr night.

Wonderful book! 5 out of 5 stars.

I found this book very readable with lots of beautiful pictures. It has sections on horse breeds(horses&ponies), horse's coloring/markings, grooming, traveling, trimming, stable management, feeding, health & caring for a sick horse, tack, it even has a section on riding(mostly eastern)and driving! This book only gives basic information with a reasonable amount of detail, I would reccommend this book for any horse lover of any age. If you plan on owning a horse someday and want a book on training your horse, this isn't the best choice. If you want to know what goes into caring for a horse I would reccomend this book. Again, it has wonderful pictures and is easy to read, I love it and have confidence you will too.

Editorial Review:

The Kingfisher Illustrated Horse & Pony Encyclopedia is a fantastic gift for children who dream of having a horse or pony of their own. There is a clear introduction to the horse followed by chapters explaining horse and pony care, riding lessons, and breeds. The encyclopedia is packed full of gorgeous photographs of horses and ponies -- showing how they look, what they do, and where in the world they are found. And of course every horse lover wants to ride, and The Kingfisher Illustrated Horse & Pony Encyclopedia takes the novice rider from first mount to cantering and galloping.
