My purchase from this seller was purchased one week after two other purchases from other sellers. This one arrived two days later. I thought it was one of the other orders and was amazingly surprised when it was the one I just purchased. Book was in excellant condition. Never even opened and much cheaper than anyone else for the same book. I expected it to have been at least opened. It never was. I recommend purchase from this buyer and will look for them again on my next purchase. THANK YOU!

presented as factual research.

While book is chock full of various argumentative gimmicks used to limit cogent thought on the topics covered, I find the book's most significant shortcoming to be constant use of one-sided and partial research (carried out only to the depth required to support biased conjectures). For example, when touching on Nazism the book conveniently sidesteps Hitler's predilection for "Positive Christianity", etc.

The book is supposed to be about the bible itself, independent of a specific religion [...] but it completely fails to review its real cost to humanity, its legacy of divisiveness ("We are better than them") and the resulting bloodshed.

Type face is easy to read - Bible is sturdy and easy to handle. After brief review it's easy to find things - and there is so much to find! Maps, character studies, discussions, etc. I bought this recently when I joined a Bible study group. My old King James version Bible never "invited" me to really use it - this Study Bible is the opposite - I write in it, highlight, make notes, etc. I'm happy with my choice!

With the cross between the NIV and the Message it brings clarity to the word. Did not find the pages thin as I had read in earlier reviews. Pages were no thinner than any other bible that I have. Comparing price with other sites and stores, it was a good buy.

NIV/The Message: New International Version, Parallel The one that I purchased was Large and Giant Print. It is easy to reference. The print is not quite as large as the LARGE PRINT books at my local library but still legible to me. I received the book in a timely fashion and in excellent condition. Buying from Amazon was easy. I have recommended this way of purchasing books to others.

The Parallel Bible is written in such a way that verses that seem unclear in the NIV version are explained in the Message. Some of the translations have made me wonder about the real meaning and now to have it explained in every day terms makes the meaning so much more clearer. The large print also makes it easier to follow. A very rewarding book.

A Tool for Understanding That Has Blessed Me 5 out of 5 stars.

It's perhaps a little late to add to the hundreds of good reviews. And I surely won't describe the Bible's content or Bullinger's extraordinary scholarship or the contents themselves. But I come from the A.A. tradition.The Good Book and the Big Book: A.A.'s Roots in the Bible (Bridge Builders Edition); The James Club and the Original A.A. Program's Absolute EssentialsThe Good Book-Big Book Guidebook; and Twelve Steps for You: Take the Twelve Steps with the Big Book, A.A. History, and the Good Book at Your Side. In a time when Biblical emphasis in A.A. has all but disappeared, I had to dig away at the Word of God with all the tools I could find. Bullinger's Companion Bible was a top resource. Reviewers have described its annotations, footnotes, and appendices. And I still use them all. My first copy is weather-worn and has been replaced by a shiny new one. But the need and value remain. To be able to tie together the New and Old Testaments,find the detailed explanations, and soak up Bullinger's research has been a joy to me as I have marched toward the abundant life and the eternal life that's sure to follow.

I ordered a leather bound bible, what I received was a two tone, light blue and brown, imitation leather bible. This is not the way it was advertised. I did call they offered for me to send it back, but said when I receive the replacement one, they could not guarantee that it wouldn't be the same as I already received. So then I said well it don't make sense to send it back, just to receive the same thing yet again, so how about some credit. He gave me $5.00 back from my purchase price, so was resolved. So if ordering this bible, be careful and ask all questions beforehand, so you aren't disappointed. I am good with the outcome.

The King James version is one of the most accurate translations of the Bible. This translation includes stories, insight and advice for all who seek a Christlike life. It is very motivating and inspiring. And the history, teaching, and advice are true.

A Zondervan Corp sales person with an overstock of new NIV Bibles to sell may tell you, "Do not listen to the 'KJV-Only!' crowd." He may tell you that King James I of Great Britain was "a flaming, red-haired homosexual Scot who nearly every weekend buggered the members of his own Privy Council."

Okay, maybe that's true. But should we therefore suspect that a flaming "King James Version Only" man, such as the Rev. Marion "Pat" Robertson, is homosexual as well? I think not! I cannot believe that Pat Robertson is a closeted gay just because he strongly prefers the so-called "Sodomy-tolerant" KJV. That Pat suffers from a deep homosexual panic about the very possibility of closeted gayness? Okay, sure. But can you blame him? How would you like to have spent your puberty and Saturday nights in the dorms and closets of an all-boys military school in Tennessee if you were a cute teenaged, sexually ambiguous, youth named "Marion"? Truly, if the atheists and homosexuals of this world knew one tenth of what the bullies at that military school put him through, such as the nickname, "Minnie Mouse," then I think they'd better understand Pat Robertson's passion to "ride with the king" - with King James, that is!

But let me add this, in Pat's defense: if King James and Pat Robertson should ever meet in Heaven, it will not be Marion "Pat" Robertson who is the first one to say, "Tickle me Elmo!" I know Pat well enough to vouch that he would never ask another man to tickle his elmo; or another woman, for that matter. If anyone tickles Pat Robertson's elmo, it will be Pat himself.

Besides, King James did not personally translate the "King James" Version. As the King of England, James merely put up the cash for the fifty British scholars who did the actual work - most of whom, granted, were gayer than Truman Capote on a spring day in Amsterdam. That interesting historical fact may explain why the allegedly "homo-tolerant" Authorised Version goes easy on the biblical heroes, David and Jonathan, and on the prophet Daniel, and the apostle John; but it can shed no light on the Marion Pat Robertson mystery, nor will the behavior of those fifty dissolute KJV translators ever get Pat to change his position. For one thing, they're dead. Seriously, in these "end times," when Jesus could be returning at any minute, it would be a mistake for English readers to reject the Authorised Version of the Bible simply on whatever nagging doubts they may have concerning the Jacobean nature of Rev. Pat Robertson's concealed sexual proclivities.
