Really His Story 5 out of 5 stars.

This book could only have been Spirit-inspired. I have never read a more clear understanding of mankind's foundation in God. I felt as though God Himself was speaking and giving clarity to so many issues that arise from whence man came and why......
I trust that any person who has doubts about the love of God and why He continues to reach out to us will read this book.
How does Genesis relate to my life? 4 out of 5 stars.

Ms Lotz clearly has been inspired to use the first 11 chapters of Genesis to think deeply about both the history presented there and the implications of it for our relationship with God. She asks the reader to probe his heart with questions like "Have you been disappointed by your parents?" (in the context of the section on Cain & Abel) and "In what ways have you been giving God your second best?" (in the same section). She also speculates about what might have been going on in these historical characters' lives and minds that might explain their actions. If I have any criticism of the book, it's that a reader who is not careful might be led to believe that the speculations are, in fact, the truth of the situation. But that's a minor quibble. I lead a Bible study that is currently focused on Genesis, and I use this book along with a commentary and study notes to prepare for the study, and have found it very helpful. If you're interested in trying to understand some of the puzzling passages in the early chapters of Genesis (I loved her speculation about who the "sons of God" and "daughters of men" are and find it very plausible), or would just like to think more deeply about the first writings that revealed God's relationship to humankind, I would highly recommend this book.
Editorial Review:
Anne Graham Lotz leads you through the first eleven chapters of Genesis, unlocking hidden messages in the familiar stories of Creation, Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, Noah and the ark, the Tower of Babel, and others. She thoughtfully illuminates each moment of Creation with inspiring insights and probing reflections to better reveal God, the Creator of us all. In God's Story you will thrill to the beauty, majesty, and tenderness of God's personal involvement in creating the world, and you will come to recognize the Creator's infinite power at work in your life as well.
