This is such a well written and informative book based on The Word of God regarding Ezekiel 39 & 39. I love the Bible and how Joel takes God's word and intertwines it with what is happening in the world today, and also through the many wonderful interviews he was able to obtain with prominent leaders. I read this book twice, and reference it from time to time. God Bless, Joel.

Don't read this book if you find yourself satisfied with comfortably floating along through life - believing that your faith and relationship with God is in a semi-decent place. God, Francis Chan argues, will have none of it and, ultimately, deserves far more.

The whole idea of loving God sure doesn't seem like an original topic, but there's something about this book that is remarkably fresh and challenging. Chan doesn't mince words, if Christians truly love God then that love will dominate and influence all that we do. As if to address the inevitable questions forming in the mind of the reader, Chan devotes a whole chapter to ordinary people who are (or who have) powerfully lived out a life of "Crazy Love."

This is an important book for Christians today. So often our mindset is focused on the bare minimum - what can we do to just get by with the least amount of effort? If you read this book (and you should!) be ready to ditch that mindset.

This is a book that should be read by every Christian; especially those whose main contacts are within their churches. Written by the head of the Barna Group and based on the group's surveys about the church, this book reveals what those outside of the church think of Christians. It's not a flattering picture. The book goes on to explore the various areas and reflects on what Christians might be doing wrong or other ways to communicate the truths of the Bible that might be more easily understood by those they are trying to reach. It is a book which will cause you to think and pray and has the potential to change your life.

This is a book based on three years of extensive research by the Barna Group concerning the perceptions of Christianity from the viewpoint of 'outsiders,' or those who are not Christians. The research results are embarrassing and ought to be of great concern to ministers and laity alike.

When asked to describe Christianity the following descriptions were given at least 75% of the time: Anti-Homosexual, Judgmental, Hypocritical, Old-Fashioned, Too political.

The reader quickly gathers that there are adjectives that are missing. One would hope that descriptions such as: Loving, Kind, Generous, Merciful, Helpful and Fulfilling would be on the list. Unfortunately, they are not.

Consequently, Christianity has an image problem. Though we are Christians, too often we are actually promoting an 'unchristian' faith.

The statistics gathered by the Barna Group set the foundation for the rest of the book. Author David Kinnaman and co-author Gabe Lyons clearly and effectively interpret the mounds of statistics that they have gathered. After presenting the data in a meaningful way, Kinnaman and Lyons offer practical and thoughtful suggestions on how to go about changing the pejorative adjectives that are unfortunately attached to Christianity today.

UnChristian is a quick read at 256 pages and will transform the way you look at ministry.

Story Behind the Book

I had no idea how clueless I was about men until I interviewed a bunch of them for my last novel. Initially, I just wanted a little insight so I could write my main (male) character. It's hard enough to see the truth about sin in ourselves even though we are the way we are but as you know,easy to see in others,as this book truthfully points out. The biblcal truth about sin and the sinner compaired to what God wants from us and will bring about in us if we will allow Him to is well explained in this brief look at the way we accept as "OK" the things God wants to work out of our life to make us more acceptable to Him. The work He begain in us when we first believed He will continue here on this earth until we go to be with Him. This book can help to see this truth from the word of God and act upon it and more glorify our God for who He is and what He has done for us.

Fun for kids and adults alike, "23 Minutes in Hell" is populated with adorable characters and silly descriptions of a magical place author Bill Wiese calls "Hell." You'll fall in love with the silly monsters and goofy creatures as well as marvel that the way Wiese squeezes comedy out of any situation. A COMEDY CLASSIC!
PS - There's no shame in mentioning both 9/11 and the Holocaust to make your point and sell books. No shame at all!

Why would God need men other than the authors of Scripture to verify His Word? This is dangerous ground and it leads to cults and false teachings. Too many people have extra-Biblical messages today. Think for yourself and read the Bible if you are unsure. If this message is so important, why am I asked to pay over $10 to read it? Last time I checked, you can get the New Testament for free!
