Editorial Review:

From the author of the bestselling Anam Cara comes a beautiful collection of blessings to help readers through both the everyday and the extraordinary events of their lives.

John O’Donohue, Irish teacher and poet, has been widely praised for his gift of drawing on Celtic spiritual traditions to create words of inspiration and wisdom for today. In To Bless the Space Between Us, his compelling blend of elegant, poetic language and spiritual insight offers readers comfort and encouragement on their journeys through life. O’Donohue looks at life’s thresholds—getting married, having children, starting a new job—and offers invaluable guidelines for making the transition from a known, familiar world into a new, unmapped territory. Most profoundly, however, O’Donohue explains “blessing” as a way of life, as a lens through which the whole world is transformed.

O’Donohue awakens readers to timeless truths and shows the power they have to answer contemporary dilemmas and ease us through periods of change.

Editorial Review:

Every 13,000 years on Earth a sacred and secret event takes place that changes everything. Mother Earth's Kundalini energy emerges from its resting place in the planet's core and moves like a snake across the surface of our world. Once at home in ancient Lemuria, it moved to Atlantis, then to the Himalayan mountains of India and Tibet, and with every relocation changed our idea of what spiritual means. And gender. And heart. This time, with much difficulty, the Serpent of Light has moved to the Andes Mountains of Chile and Peru.

Multi-dimensional, multi-disciplined, and multi-lived, for the first time in this book, Drunvalo begins to tell his stories of 35 years spent in service to Mother Earth. Follow him around the world as he follows the guidance of Ascended Masters, his two spheres of light, and his own inner growing knowledge. His story is a living string of ceremonies to help heal hearts, align energies, right ancient imbalances, and balance the living Earth's Unity Consciousness Grid-- in short to increase our awareness of the indivisibility of life in the universe. We are all--rocks and people and interdimensional beings--one!

"Life may seem to be business as usual, but it is not. We are changing fast . . . Remember this for life is going to present stranger things to you in your lifetime, and they all have meaning and purpose . . .Only Mother Earth and ancient Maya know what's going to happen." --from Serpent of Light

* Part travel adventure, part spiritual instruction--a firsthand account of a once in 13,000 years process. * Drunvalo Melchizedek has a story to tell--an adventure story, a story of healing ceremonies that take place from the Yucatan to Kauai and Moorea to the Grand Canyon and New Zealand and to Peru. * See what can happen when we choose to open our hearts and follow the path of light.

"In Serpent of Light, Drunvalo Melchizedek tells the story of indigenous people around the world creating ceremonies to relocate the kundalini serpent to the high Andes Mountains in Chile, an event that happens every 13,000 years. Spiritual ascension will only come to our planet if men and women are totally integrated and balanced, and during this next cycle, women will be the leaders. Drunvalo was chosen to share in critical ceremonies that were created to empower women because he is a man who dwells totally in his heart and truly respects women. As a female ceremonial teacher during these same years when Drunvalo was creating beautiful ceremonies within many of the same sacred sites with the people, I can say that Drunvalo speaks the truth. He offers as much closely held information as is allowed, so there is significant indigenous knowledge in this book. Drunvalo is a great storyteller! You are there with him while he follows synchronicities and communicates with the great guardians of the sacred sites. Serpent of Light is a masterful description of the great Earth activations that are occurring during the end of the Mayan Calendar." --Barbara Hand Clow, International Mayan Elder, a Cherokee Record Keeper, a ceremonial leader, and the author of The Mayan Code: Time Acceleration and Awakening the World Mind

Editorial Review:

Black Elk Speaks is the story of the Lakota visionary and healer Nicholas Black Elk (1863-1950) and his people during the momentous twilight years of the nineteenth century. Black Elk met the distinguished poet, writer, and critic John G. Neihardt (1881-1973) in 1930 on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota and chose Neihardt to tell his story. Neihardt understood and conveyed Black Elk’s experiences in this powerful and inspirational message for all humankind.

When Black Elk received his great vision, white settlers were invading the Lakotas’ homeland, decimating buffalo herds, and threatening to extinguish the Lakotas’ way of life. The Lakotas fought fiercely to retain their freedom and way of life, a dogged resistance that resulted in a remarkable victory at the Little Bighorn and an unspeakable tragedy at Wounded Knee. Black Elk Speaks offers much more than a precious glimpse of a vanished time, however. As related by Neihardt, Black Elk’s searing visions of the unity of humanity and the earth have made this book a venerated spiritual classic. Whether appreciated as the poignant tale of a Lakota life, a history of a Native nation, or an enduring spiritual testament, Black Elk Speaks is unforgettable.

This new edition features two additional essays by John G. Neihardt that further illuminate his experience with Black Elk; an essay by Alexis Petri, great-granddaughter of John G. Neihardt, that celebrates Neihardt’s remarkable accomplishments; and a look at the legacy of the special relationship between Neihardt and Black Elk, written by Lori Utecht, editor of Knowledge and Opinion: Essays and Literary Criticism of John G. Neihardt.

Interesting read.... 5 out of 5 stars.

I found this book to be most interesting and yes at being almost an inch thick..and being a busy mom and not the fastest reader..Im still reading. If one is simply wishing to fill a bookshelf then that would be a major waste..but for really wishing to learn new things and go for improvement and appreciation of life ..of all it's intended richness..this is a great book.

Editorial Review:

Want to learn how to speak the language of critters, large and small? Easy-to-read and understand, Ted Andrews's bestselling Animal Speak shows readers how to identify his or her animal totem and learn how to invoke its energy and use it for personal growth and inner discovery. Nature lovers will love this insightful compendium, chock-full of touching stories about animals, natural history, and animal folklore. Readers will also learn magical animal rites and how to read omens. Animal Speak includes a dictionary of bird, animal, reptile, and insect totems, which describe each creature's meaning. For example, if a person's totem is dragonfly, he or she was most likely excessively emotional and passionate in early years, learning with age to balance it with mental clarity and control. If a dragonfly suddenly shows up in your life, it means you may need to gain a new perspective or make a change. --P. Randall Cohan

Get's straight to the point, perfect introduction 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

There's a reason why Scott Cunnningham was so well loved in the WIccan community. Out of all the Wiccan books I have read, and there have been many, this one still stands out on my mind as the essential and most direct one. Unlike some other authors, Scott manages to get straight to the point of what Wicca is, spends only enough time telling us what it is not, and making it clear enough for all to understand. While I would not recomend that those who are looking into Wicca stop here, this is by far the perfect starting point.

The only complaints I have are maybe with some of the wording of his rituals. But even he suggests we write our own rituals, making his merely examples.

Also I suggest all potential Wiccans read and understand Gerald Gardners "Witchcraft Today" and Doreen Valiente's "Witchcraft for Tomorrow". Always know the history of the Craft so that it does not become diluted and ill-defined.

Blessed Be )O(

Editorial Review:

Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner is the essential primer from one of the best known authors on Wicca. Focusing on the importance of individualism in your spiritual path, Cunningham explains the very basics of Sabbats (holy days), ceremonies, altars, and other nuts and bolts of Wicca that a solitary practitioner may have trouble finding elsewhere. While Wicca shouldn't be your sole point of reference when considering Wicca as your way of life, it is one of the best starting points. --Brian Patterson

Anam Cara 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Anam Cara, is a wonderful spiritual book. I would strongly recommend it to any readers who want to go deeper in their spiritual journney. The author uses Theology, philosophy, and poetry to capture the essence of what Celtic spirituality means in a modern context. If you want to be grounded and taken on a wonderful journey this is the book to achieve it in. You do not read this book like a novel, but rather you will keep it by your bed side and re-read it many times. John O' Donohue is one of the finest Irish writers of this generation. I have read three of his book and I intend to read more.
Anam Cara means soul friend, the anam cara was the person you could reveal the hidden intimacies of your life. This friendship was an act of recognition and belonging. When you had an Anam Cara , your friendship cut across convention and category. You were joined in an ancient way with the friend of your soul.

Editorial Review:

Anam Cara: A Book of Celtic Wisdom offers an exploration of the secret universe we all carry inside us, the connections we forge with the worlds of our friends and loved ones, and the products of our worlds reflected in the things we create outside of ourselves. Anam Cara, Gaelic for "soul friend," is an ancient journey down a nearly forgotten path of wisdom into what it means to be human. Drawing on this age-old perspective, John O'Donohue helps us to see ourselves as the Celts did: we're more than just flesh, blood, and bone; we comprise individual worlds. The comprehension of the sublime architecture of the worlds we are born with will engender a new appreciation for the outside world and the way we contribute to its evolution.

For me it all began with this book. By understanding the posibilities of water, I also understood what else there is to life witch you don`t learn in school, and which I now consider as absolute essential to a happy life. Enjoy your reading :)

Interesting Enlightenment 4 out of 5 stars.

It is always a good idea to get enlightened about different subjects. This is a good place to start. The writing was light and entertaining as well as informative. I recommend it!

Editorial Review:

This book has the potential to profoundly transform your world view. Using high-speed photography, Dr. Masaru Emoto discovered that crystals formed in frozen water reveal changes when specific, concentrated thoughts are directed toward them. He found that water from clear springs and water that has been exposed to loving words shows brilliant, complex, and colorful snowflake patterns. In contrast, polluted water, or water exposed to negative thoughts, forms incomplete, asymmetrical patterns with dull colors. The implications of this research create a new awareness of how we can positively impact the earth and our personal health.

Excellent translation 5 out of 5 stars.

For understanding the basis of the upcoming My2K event of Dec., 2012, this Dennis Tedlock translation is great. I wasn't expecting the story to be humorous, but it is. Entertaining and enlightening.

Editorial Review:

Popol Vuh, the Quiché Mayan book of creation, is not only the most important text in the native languages of the Americas, it is also an extraordinary document of the human imagination. It begins with the deeds of Mayan gods in the darkness of a primeval sea and ends with the radiant splendor of the Mayan lords who founded the Quiché kingdom in the Guatemalan highlands. Originally written in Mayan hieroglyphs, it was transcribed into the Roman alphabet in the sixteenth century.

This new edition of Dennis Tedlock's unabridged, widely praised translation includes new notes and commentary, newly translated passages, newly deciphered hieroglyphs, and over forty new illustrations.

Salem, 1692 5 out of 5 stars.
7 of 8 people found this review helpful.

Why did the social fabric of Salem break down so thoroughly that by 1692 people were being accused of and executed for witchcraft? This book attempts to answer that question with a number of possibilities. For me the clearest answer had to do with the separation of Salem Village and Salem Town and how they perceived each other: Town was bigger and had the political clout to control the Village; Village wanted independence, which meant the right to elect its own leaders and, even more important, be independent in church matters. What was truly unusual about this arrangement for Salem was that the Village was caught in the middle between Town's dominence and the taste of independence it was allowed to savor - but never really have. This bred contempt and eventually the only means they felt available to force resolution, which went beyond the political and ecclesiastical realm in which they had no power anyway: witchcraft. The authors lean toward the psychology of guilt and accusation in proposing answers, which might be all well and good, but the answers are more basic and obvious than that, I think. A well written book, admirable for the extent to which original sources are utilized.
