Nothing personal against Scott Cunningham; I'm just not a big fan of his writing style--I got through three of his books in just under twenty minutes; there was nothing to hold my attention or call for deeper reading. I liked this one mch better--well enough, in fact, to loan it to friends. The writing is clear, concise, and informative; this is the best beginners' book I've picked up on the Craft thus far.

An easy to understand book of knowledge for the beginner or a long time practicing witch and pagans alike. Covers almost every topic, has black and white pictures ( some nudity ). This book is a must have for every witch looking for more knowledge.

Well let me tell you, I will never look at an animal the same way again. I'm not sure how true the messages of the animals in this book are it is still a fun read that everyone (believer or not)can get a kick out of. The other day I read this book about the eagle and later on I took a walk and I heard the scream of an Eagle! There are very few eagles in this area, but there she was flying just above me and when I told my neighbors about the sighting, no one believed me. Go figure, when you start reading stuff like this, strange stuff (cool stuff) starts to happen. Enjoy!

Not a good story for a South American Indian 1 out of 5 stars.

This is not a good book. This Bruchko character ruined the Motilones Indians lives in Colombia to build up his own ego under the guise of helping spread Christianity. Maybe he thought he was doing a good thing, but really all he did was try and assimilate a people in a culture they wanted nothing to do with. He should have left them alone. My Grandmother, a Motilon Indian, and I do not recommend this book except to show how European explorers, and missionaries have helped to ruin countless cultures by trying to "help" them to not be "savages".

Truly the most inspirational and informative book that I have ever read. It is full of knowledge that is useful to you every day of your life, changing your idea of what life is forever.

I was looking for a potential Xmas gift for my occult-loving cousin. However, this book spends a lot of time on plants, plalnts throughout history, and plant uses; so it's perhaps less intriguing if you aren't really a practicing Wiccan (which I'm not). On the upside, this is apparently published annually so there's always a chance the next one will have more engaging content.

This book comes with a drumming CD which facilitates the shamanic meditative state. It is a good introduction to shamanism. I am a full mesa carrying shaman. I have not read the whole book yet but still can see its value from the information presented in a easy comprehensive form.

While this book does not go into depth about the ins and outs of Shamanism, it will give the reader a well written idea of what it is. One can easily start practicing some of the techniques given within this 85 page book. I read this in about 3 hours, including time to sit quietly and reflect on the information given. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and enjoyed the included CD as well.

I held back one star due to some redundant parts. I am waiting to read that "blow me away" book on Shamanism before I give a 5 star review, but that's just me.

This was a worthwhile purchase you should add to your library.
