For me it all began with this book. By understanding the posibilities of water, I also understood what else there is to life witch you don`t learn in school, and which I now consider as absolute essential to a happy life. Enjoy your reading :)

It is always a good idea to get enlightened about different subjects. This is a good place to start. The writing was light and entertaining as well as informative. I recommend it!

This book has the potential to profoundly transform your world view. Using high-speed photography, Dr. Masaru Emoto discovered that crystals formed in frozen water reveal changes when specific, concentrated thoughts are directed toward them. He found that water from clear springs and water that has been exposed to loving words shows brilliant, complex, and colorful snowflake patterns. In contrast, polluted water, or water exposed to negative thoughts, forms incomplete, asymmetrical patterns with dull colors. The implications of this research create a new awareness of how we can positively impact the earth and our personal health.

Two introductory chapters detail the authors’ theories about how to work with crystals and stones—including the concept of crystal resonance and the scientific observation that living organisms (such as ourselves) are liquid crystalline structures. An illuminating alphabetical journey through the mineral kingdom, stone by stone, follows.

Each entry begins with the stone name and photo, plus its elemental and chakra correspondences, as well as keywords that indicate its properties. I guess I am between a 4 and a 5 on this one. It's a good little book with a heck of a lot of info. I honestly like Melody's book "Love Is In The Earth" better (see my review on it). Melody's book gives a lot of info on a ton of different stones, more than most people will ever need to look up. Melody's book gives more info on each stone, though, lots more.

With that said, what I do like about this book, besides the also good info, is that there are pictures of the stones are in color. That REALLY helps recognize them. Pages 1 - 85 also gives tons of crystal info and shows pictures of the different kinds of crystals, at least some of them. I not only finally found out what a record-keeper crystal looked like, but I was actually able to find one in Jasper, Alberta, Canada recently. I am sure the shopkeeper had no idea or it would have been a lot more than $20.

Judith and Doreen also explain lots of miscellaneous crystal stuff, like crystals and sacred geometry, setting intentions with crystals, clearing crystals, crystal care, crystal grids, and so on. Great book. OK. I talked myself into it. It's a 5.

As you know I LOVE crystals, and enjoy using the metaphysical properties of Crystals for my and others benefit.

I LOVE and recommend the following books

"Love Is In The Earth: A Kaleidoscope Of Crystals" A. Melody
"The Crystal Bible" Judy Hall
"The Crystal Handbook" Kevin Sullivan

These books are listed in the order that I recommend them.

This review is about "The Encyclopedia Of Crystals"

I will NEVER recommend this book because of the following reasons.

1. This book is BIG and unwieldy for me 8 1/2 by 11 inch footprint.

2. This time she decided to categorize the crystals by COLOR instead of alphabetically. This makes it difficult to find the crystal you are looking for.

3. Some of the information is plain wrong especially the moh's hardness rating for some of the stones.

4. Many of the pictures in this book are very poor in quality.

In my personal opinion she should have released an updated version of "The Crystal Bible" that had information on new stones not covered in the earlier version.

I disliked this book so much I actually gave it away.

Overall rating 1 star. "SAVE YOUR MONEY!"

If you want to use Crystals for healing, and can only get one book -- this is it. Simple, straight-forward, easy to use, gets to the point quickly, and has instructions that don't take a month to read and still longer (much) to feel competent to use. It's a little book that takes you straight to what you want to know. That's all most of us have time for these daze. I have a huge book I can recommend, with all the info you could want, with pictures -- and wonderful as it is, takes ages to mull thru unless you do a workbook on your own with headings for each disorder. This is that workbook -- and more.

The Edgar Cayce Guide to Gemstones, Minerals, Metals, and More, is an excellent source guide for those interested in this area. The book has quality pages, colorful photographs, and terrific insights on the various stones, minerals, and metals. I have gone back to the book more than a few times and have recommended it to my friends and family. Ms. Kaehr certainly knows what she is writing about.

I really enjoyed this book and found it filled with loads of useful information. As a designer of chakra-balancing jewelry, this well-written book will help me tremendously.

This is a hands-on guide to healing gems, minerals, metals and the other materials Edgar Cayce mentioned in the life readings he gave. It is a direct link to Cayce’s work and the recommendations mentioned and suggested by him. Each gem, stone or metal is examined in depth including a history, the uses Cayce recommended, along with a Cayce reading that contains that material. Color photographs will assist in the descriptions.
