Wow. this is the perfect book for busy people 5 out of 5 stars.

Wow. this is the perfect book for busy, active people who want to keep their sex life alive, but who don't have time to spend learning. When I thought there were not any more sex "techniques" I could learn from a book, this book just amazed me. This book just transformed my sex and it is never going to be better than after reading it. I've read my share of sex books but this one is very informative, gives great advises and covers many areas of relationships that are not covered in other books.

I'd give it six stars if I could. 5 out of 5 stars.

M. Iam seriously addresses intimacy issues and provides a step-by-step deep relationship-nourishing format that begins with the art of exploring the pleasures of the Kama sutra from the vantage point of the couple's balanced physical, mental and emotional energy. In addition to initiating and maintaining the purely sensual aspects of love-making.

Everyone should read this book. I have read a lot of relationships and sex books. This one, by far, is the best for me. Was almost like a total
pleasure, I am giving it as a gift for special occasions and recommending it to everyone I know.

Editorial Review:

Governed by religious and sexual taboos, rigid gender roles, stifling maternal love, and the enforced silences of social decorum, he is driven to the point of insanity from which he must slowly and painfully return.

This book is just simply wonderful. Scott Cunningham was a truly wonderful man and fellow Wiccan, no matter if you are new to Wicca or have been practicing for many years, this and all of his books are a must!!! )O(

Editorial Review:

Cunningham’s classic introduction to Wicca is about how to live life magically, spiritually, and wholly attuned with nature. It is a book of sense and common sense, not only about magick, but about religion and one of the most critical issues of today: how to achieve the much needed and wholesome relationship with our Earth. Cunningham presents Wicca as it is today: a gentle, Earth-oriented religion dedicated to the Goddess and God. Wicca also includes Scott Cunningham’s own Book of Shadows and updated appendices of periodicals and occult suppliers.

Helpful, Practical, Magickal! 5 out of 5 stars.
11 of 11 people found this review helpful.

This is the first Llewellyn Almanac I've bought, and I feel like a fool for waiting this long! The actual almanac section exhibits wonderful information for each day of the month, January 2009-December 31st 2009 such as:
*The specific moon phase
*The sign the moon is currently in, along with the times of which it
enters a new sign
*Incense of the day
*Color of the day
*Any holidays that fall on each date (which is quite interesting since
it seems every day is a holiday somewhere on the planet!)

Other than that, it's packed with plenty of information and stories from some very well known pagan authors, including Fairy Lore(Sidhe), Magickal Inks, Flying Ointments, Bear Totems, Familiars, Family Covens, Cauldron lore; the list is neqarly endless!

All in all, great price for the information and Calendar!

Editorial Review:

One of the secrets of real magic is that it is controlled by the mind. The more things in your ritual to help your mind associate with your goal, the more powerful your ritual may be. Colored candles, scented oils, natural incenses, and more all add to the impact of the magic you wish to do.
But how do you know which incense to burn? Is it possible to add scented oils together to get a more powerful oil? And how do you make your own, appropriately-scented tools?
The answers to questions like these and hundreds more can be found in The Complete Book of Incense, Oils & Brews by world-famous author Scott Cunningham. This is a greatly expanded and rewritten version of The Magic of Incenses, Oils and Brews. It includes over 100 new formulas, proportions for each element of the recipes (the most requested feature from his previous book), how to substitute ingredients, and much more. Besides the formulas, it also includes the exact methods of making all of these scented tools, including how to extract the essences from the herbs.
Each one of the formulas is precise and easy to make. Do you need luck? Take 2 parts vetivert, 2 parts allspice, 1 part nutmeg, and 1 part calamus, grind them together as finely as possible, then sprinkle the powder in a circle around you, beginning and ending in the East and moving clockwise. Sit within this circle and absorb the powder's energies. Also included are other ways to use magical powders that will have you coming up with your own ideas for them, too.
There is a legion of recipes for incenses. There are three for the sun and two for consecrating talismans. There are incenses for each of the astrological signs and ones to help you study better and gain success. You'll also find incenses for each of the planetary influences. There are four for Saturn alone!
This compendium of magical lore is a vital tool for every magical person on any magical path, whether you are a beginner or an expert.

Better than Cunningham 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Nothing personal against Scott Cunningham; I'm just not a big fan of his writing style--I got through three of his books in just under twenty minutes; there was nothing to hold my attention or call for deeper reading. I liked this one mch better--well enough, in fact, to loan it to friends. The writing is clear, concise, and informative; this is the best beginners' book I've picked up on the Craft thus far.

Editorial Review:

Due to the sheer number of Wicca 101 books on the market, many newcomers to the Craft find themselves piecing together their Wiccan education by reading a chapter from one book, a few pages from another. Rather than depending on snippets of wisdom to build a new faith, "Wicca for Beginners" provides a solid foundation to Wicca without limiting the reader to one tradition or path. Embracing both the spiritual and the practical, "Wicca for Beginners "is a primer on the philosophies, culture, and beliefs behind the religion, without losing the mystery that draws many students to want to learn. Detailing practices such as grounding, raising energy, visualization, and meditation, this book offers exercises for core techniques before launching into more complicated rituals and spellwork.

Recommending Buckland's Big Blue 5 out of 5 stars.

This book is not as complete as the title states, but the new expanded edition is much better than the original. Even though this may not be the one and only book you will ever need, it is an essential read, and will compliment any Wiccan or Pagan library.

Gotta tell ya..Best!! 5 out of 5 stars.

This book is one of , if not , the best beginner's book I have ever gotten for my library. It not only gives you Witchcraft knowledge , it gives herbology and much more. Please add this to your personal collection , as you will never regret it!!!

A classic but... 3 out of 5 stars.

Not to much to my taste. None the less, it has a lot of basic information. I would rip out the chapter on demons before giving it to a new witch or impressionable one. I find the chapter on calling up demons disturbing and dangerous. The rest of the book is filled with important information. Buckland is just not my cup of tea. I have his candle magic book and I do adapt some of his rituals. Over all, I would not recommend this except to someone with some time on the path and a good dose of common sense and well grounded.

Editorial Review:

This volume is a complete resource to the study and practice of modern, non-denominational Wicca. The book is an illustrated, self-study course for the solitary or group. Included are rituals; exercises for developing psychic talents; information on all major "sects" of the craft; and sections on tools, beliefs, dreams, meditations, divination, herbal lore, healing and ritual clothing.

Editorial Review:

Do you work magic with herbs? Do you use them in spells, for talismans or simply use their innate powers? If you don't have Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs, you need to get it right away. This book has become a classic in its field. Paul Beyerl, a respected author on herbs calls it "…an essential reference book by students of herbalism and magick alike … Scott's personable charm touches every page… I highly recommend this book." And Jeanne Rose, famous author of books on herbs and developer of an herbal course says "I love books like this … It is accessible, easy to read, and with its encompassing index (all too often neglected), simple to use as well." Over 200,000 people already have this book and use it frequently.
In this edition of the book (it's expanded and revised on the 15th anniversary of original publication) you will find the magical properties and folklore of over 400 herbs! You'll also find lists of herbs based on their magical powers, their genders, their planetary rulers, and more. Perhaps the most important list is the folk name cross-reference. With that information, when a recipe calls for "bramble, " you'll know it needs blackberry. Or if the magic calls for "enebro," you'll know you that is juniper.
The main part of this book is the listings of the herbs. Each one includes names, associations, and magical attributions. Violets can be used for protection, luck, love, and more. Primrose is for protection and love. Garlic is for protection, healing, exorcism, lust, and prevention of theft.
This book is considered a classic. It is probably consulted more than any other book on this subject. If you want to learn the secrets of magical herbs, this book is a must!

A straightforward account of horrific child abuse... 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 1 people found this review helpful.

As in her other books, special ed teacher Torey Hayden charts a year in the life of her students...this time focusing upon Jadie Ekdahl, an electively mute little girl.

Being warned about all the past teachers who have tried to get Jadie to speak but failed, Hayden is surprised when she succeeds in getting the child to answer her questions within hours of her arrival.

Once Jadie does begin to speak, she hints of horrible abuse she and her younger sisters have suffered, abuse which is either pornographic or Satanic in nature. Although Hayden does help Jadie significantly, she never does learn the full story behind the abuse, as the child cannot understand everything she's been through, her parents vehemently deny it...and the community as a whole refuses to believe anything at all's happened. It's a bit of a letdown for readers, getting into the details of an abused child's life, yet never learning what really happened in the end.

Although this book -- like all of Hayden's others -- crosses into the realm of potential sap, preachiness or self-admiration, it never goes there. While Heyden's quest to help the children -- and resulting success with them -- puts her well ahead of other educators, she never takes on the air of patting herself on the back for it. Rather, she is a mere human; one who often becomes frustrated, as anyone else might be; and far from perfect. Often, as she becomes fixated on the children, Heyden forgets to balance the other areas of her life, which become problematic as a result.

This is a fascinating look at the life of a child suffering incredibly bizarre abuse, and how one caring individual tried to help.

Editorial Review:

Jadie never spoke. She never laughed, or cried, or uttered any sound. Despite efforts to reach her, Jadie remained locked in her own troubled world––until one remarkable teacher persuaded her to break her self–imposed silence. Nothing in all of Torey Hayden's experience could have prepared her for the shock of what Jadie told her––a story too horrendous for Torey's professional colleagues to acknowledge. Yet a little girl was living in a nightmare, and Torey Hayden responded in the only way she knew how––with courage, compassion, and dedication––demonstrating once again the tremendous power of love and the relilience of the human spirit.

not as good as "Earth Power" but still good 4 out of 5 stars.
4 of 5 people found this review helpful.

while I consider myself a christian and not pagan, some would argue that I practice some so-called pagan arts. For centuries my ancestors have practiced a sort of combination, if you will, of Catholic and native traditions. anyway, long story short ~ I like this book and while it doesn't really have any traditions my family would have practiced and mostly focuses on Old World (European) rites/traditions, I still find it interesting. it's not nearly as good as "Earth power" but a good read anyway. take it from me, Scott Cunningham is the perfect author for non-wiccans/pagans looking for good books on invoking the earth: nothing that offends unlike many others on the genre.

Connect with the Elements ! 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I adore Scott Cunningham's work, and EAF&W is no exception. Although I love EARTH POWER as well, I like that EAF&W has more techniques and really helps the reader to understand how natural things are affected, and in turn, affect the elements. I love Cunningham's ability to show the reader that magic doesn't really need 50 candles and some expensive oil to be magic - all we have to do is remember our Earth and work with her - directly...that's what real magic is about.

Editorial Review:

This is a continuation of Cunningham's wildly successful Earth Power with more rites, spells, and simple rituals that can be done with a minimum of equipment. Discover the wonders of star magic; the uses of candles, ice, snow, and magnets; even the fine art of using wishing wells.

Review of To Ride A Silver Broomstick 5 out of 5 stars.

This is an awsome book! Sliver Ravenwolf keeps it real! I must read for someone who is just learning about witchcraft.

Do not read until you have read... 2 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

To understand many of the negative critisims this book you must read a few other books first: Witchcraft Today, An ABC of Witchcraft Past and Present, Fire Child: The life & Magic of Maxine Sanders 'Witch Queen', A Witches' Bible: The Complete Witches Handbook, and Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner (Includes Author's Book of Shadows).

Not Recommended for Beginners 1 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

There will be no fancy introductions here, so I'm going to cut right to the chase...

The reasons that Ms. Silverwolf is not a good resource are many, starting with the fact that she is quite bigoted. She says that she promotes peace and tolerance of all religions, but I don't see any tolerance anywhere in this entire book -- all I see are constant put-downs about those who do not follow the Pagan path, her main target being those who choose to practice Christianity.

Her advice for teenagers looking into practicing the craft is just as disturbing as the incessant Christian bashing. The fact that she advocates that young people should LIE to their parents is something that I find repugnant. She also advocate the use of mind games and lying to other people as well...

From reading this book it's obvious that she lacks rudimentary understanding Wicca/Witchcraft, as well as the different practices within Witchcraft and/or Wicca, especially dealing with the definitions of different kinds of practices within the Craft.

I won't even go into the historical inaccuracies that are found in her book, as there is too much to mention...

Regardless, Ms. Ravenwolf is definitely not a good resource for anyone studying the Craft.

If you honestly feel the need to read this book, I suggest that you get it at a discount, or borrow it from somebody so you don't feel so ripped off after reading it.

Editorial Review:

Selling more than 300,000 copies, this popular guide to the Craft has been helping a new generation of Witches-those practicing or wishing to practice the Craft on their own-for over a decade. Filled with Silver RavenWolf's warmth, humor, and personal anecdotes, To Ride a Silver Broomstick introduces the science and religion of the craft.
