extremely tiny print 2 out of 5 stars.
1 of 3 people found this review helpful.

I was required to buy this for a class. The print is so small I have trouble reading it. I would not buy it again because of that. What good is current info if you can't see it.

Not convenient to use 2 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

The book had all the information I wanted but the print was totally unreadable due to size...I opted for the more expensive spiral bound version.

Great, but type is microscopic! 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This is an invaluable resource in terms of content. It is the pocket size, which is convenient. Understand that the small size means that the type is incredibly small. You might need a microscope to read this!

This is by far the finest, most comprehensive text book on pharmaceutical calculations available. This is the text by which all others are judged. It is great for the student who is unfamiliar with this topic as well as for the pharmacist who could use a refresher course. It makes a great reference text for the pharmacy.

Med. student 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I used this book to prepare for my Pharmacology exam in university,it's a great book, my pharmacology course based on this book so it was very helpful.Afcourse it's not enough, for a med.student who is looking for pharmokinetic's,that's why i bought 2 books in one time: Lippincott's "Pharmacology 3th" and Katzung "Clinical pharmacology".

Editorial Review:

Lippincott's Illustrated Reviews: Pharmacology, Fourth Edition enables rapid review and assimilation of large amounts of complex information about the essentials of medical pharmacology. Clear, sequential pictures of mechanisms of action actually show students how drugs work, instead of just telling them. As in previous editions, the book features an outline format, over 500 full-color illustrations, cross-references to other volumes in the series, and over 125 review questions. Content has been thoroughly updated, and a new chapter covers toxicology. New to this edition will be a companion Website containing all of the illustrations, fully searchable text, and an interactive question bank. Get the 10th edition. 2 out of 5 stars.
20 of 24 people found this review helpful.

I can't say that I'm pleased with the new edition. The information is grossly disorganized, there are no introductory chapters, and important information has been omitted or dumbed down, e.g. the section on fat-soluble vitamins, specifically vitamin A.
If you're buying, get the 10th ed. The new edition is definitely a step down for Goodman & Gilman.

Didn't meet the expectation 3 out of 5 stars.

I have bougth an earlier edition and had great expectation for an update. In my field of interest, psychiatry, it was a disappointment. Could be a good book for students.

Editorial Review:

The undisputed leader in medical pharmacology, without equal. Updated to reflect all critical new developments in drug action and drug-disease interaction. This is the “desert island” book of all medical pharmacology—if you can own just one pharmacology book, this is it.

Editorial Review:

The 29th edition of the best-selling, original drug handbook for nurses has been revamped expressly to appeal to the education market as well as the practice market. This comprehensive reference provides complete monographs for more than 900 generic and 3,000 trade drugs. The monographs are consistently formatted for ease of use, and they focus on the practical information that practicing nurses need. Each monograph consists of generic and trade names, pregnancy risk category, controlled substance schedule (if applicable), available forms, indications and dosages (including dosage adjustments) administration for all routes (plus I.V. drug incompatibilities (for I.V. drugs), drug action (including tables showing route, onset, peak, and duration), adverse reactions, interactions, effects on lab test results, contraindications, nursing considerations, and patient teaching. A new chapter on drug classes is being added to the front of the book. The back-of-book CD is being ported to a Web toolkit with videos about medication administration, a color-photo pill guide, dosage calculators, interactions algorithms, and much more. NDHnow.com keeps the book up to date with partial monographs for new drugs.

No organic chemistry! 3 out of 5 stars.
10 of 10 people found this review helpful.

The book's fine as one in a set of books to use as reference as you prepare for the PCAT. But beware, it *IGNORES* organic chemistry, which is at least 50% or the chemistry test. Otherwise the book is OK.

Great Book 4 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

By far the best PCAT book on the market. In depth review in all subjects except for verbal ability (wimpy little section). Lots of sample questions and a handy diagnostic test to help you figure out what to study.

Pretty good review but with lots of errors 3 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

The review chapters are comprehensive and for the most part, well explained. However, there are LOTS of typos and errors that are starting to get very annoying especially mixing up subscripts and superscripts. Also lacks a periodic table which surprised me but those are easy to find. Question explanations are pretty good.

Great Study Material 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This book was the basis of the my studying for the PCAT and it was extremely helpful. I read the book cover to cover and scored in the 89th percentile on the test. There were a few typos, but this book really prepared me for the test. I would recommend it to anyone taking the test. It was especially useful in areas I needed extra help with, such as biology and chemistry. The math was the only area I felt ill prepared for when I took the actual test. There was a lot of calculus on the test that was not in the book. Other than that I would say this is the best book on the market to prepare yourself for the PCAT.

Editorial Review:

Features include:

*The first guide to provide updated information for June 2007 test change

*Full-length practice test with detailed answer explanations

*Diagnostic test

*Complete content review

*Effective strategies for the PCAT
