This book was recommended by my cardiologist as the best way to help me read 12 leads better. It works. It is easy to read and the knowledge builds page by page. Highly recommended.

If you are serious about combating cardiovascular disease (not for the faint hearted) and willing to take drastic steps in your battle for health and take responsibility for your own health, this book is an excellent resource. Has recipes to help you get you started.

We've all got our idiosyncrasies when it comes to writing--a special chair we have to sit in, a certain kind of yellow paper we absolutely must use. To create this tremendously affecting memoir, Jean-Dominique Bauby used the only tool available to him--his left eye--with which he blinked out its short chapters, letter by letter. Two years ago, Bauby, then the 43-year-old editor-in-chief of Elle France, suffered a rare stroke to the brain stem; only his left eye and brain escaped damage. Rather than accept his "locked in" situation as a kind of death, Bauby ignited a fire of the imagination under himself and lived his last days--he died two days after the French publication of this slim volume--spiritually unfettered. In these pages Bauby journeys to exotic places he has and has not been, serving himself delectable gourmet meals along the way (surprise: everything's ripe and nothing burns). I've tried Dale Dubin on three different occasions and always gave up midway. This book is easy to read, keeps up your interest, doesn't clog you with unnecessary information, has a good summary at the end of every chapter, good clinical examples are provided and the best part is that it is quite funny. I actually laughed out aloud where he says wolff-parkinson-white and lown-ganong-levine aren't the names of lawfirms!
I managed to finish it in two weeks and it is refreshing to come across an ekg book that doesn't make you want to take extended break times!
Only thing is I wish the author had used more arrows to point out the specific abnormalities and that the last section of practice EKGS was a little more comprehensive.
But I think it is a good resource for residents and students. And I would pick it over Dale Dubin anyday.

I really didn't like this book, and I'm not sure if it is just the topic that I struggled with or if it was the text. I had a tough time reading the book...I didn't like the blank lines to fill in the answers, it seemed distracting to me trying to learn the information and having to stop and fill in the blank as I go along.
As far as the information, it was really very compelete and there were A LOT of practice strips in the text. That part I did find useful. It does take a lot of practice in class, in the field and in clinical settings to learn the cardiolody and ekg intrepretaion. If you can get passed the fill in the blanks part, or if that doesn't bother you than it seems to be a very good book. It just didn't seem to suit my learning style.

This book gives much background information, in great detail. I do not recommend it for people who want to gain basic undstanding of cardiopulmonary therapy, unless you are really trying to become perfect at it.Good book but very detailed; almost too much information.

This book is really helpful if you're just starting out in Respiratory Therapy, the illusrations are great. The book is easy to read and understand. Great reference book. There are charts and quick references you can either cut out of the book or photo copy and have as a handy pocket guide.

This is not a very expensive text book for it's category. All the same it is a well written book by a reputable author and staff. The book demands that you pay full attention to every word in it's text. I mean that the text is written in a concise manner by a professional for the novice. Attention to detail is of utmost importance when you are studying. A solid basic knowledge of first year anatomy and physiology is essential. It wouldn't hurt to have your A&P text beside you. The author assumes that the student knows the basics and does not go into basic discussions but builds on each topic. Understand that this is a challenging text book pulling together all facets of A&P with full emphasis on Respiratory Care.
I personally find this text book a pleasant challenge. Keep in mind that the ultimate goal here is to be capable of keeping someone breathing. After all if you can't breath nothing else matters!
