Nothing compares to AAMT Book of Style 5 out of 5 stars.

This book is an absolute must have. I don't think I have run across a question in my transcription that the BOS wasn't able to answer. I'm new to the field and this book is ALWAYS by my side. :) It is definitely money well spent.

Excellent 5 out of 5 stars.

This book is a required text for my Medical Transcription 1 class. I was a bit surprised at the format of this book at first. But this is definitely a book I plan to keep once I start my internship/job in medical transcription. This book is incredibly easy to use and covers a ton of things that you need to know for medical transcription. I would recommend this book to anyone who is a beginning medical transcriptionist.

Simply the Best Drug Manual on the Market! 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

As a dentist, I need to keep current on many drugs, drug interactions, drug properties, how drugs are dispensed, side-effects, mechanisms of action, and dosing instructions. Before I found this manual, I used the PDR (Physician's Desk Reference), and at about 8 pounds a copy, I found it cumbersome, hard to use, and the print was too small. The Nursing Drug Handbook is lightweight, can be tucked into a large coat pocket, or desk drawer, is easy to use, has all the vital information I need, and is relatively inexpensive.

The book is arranged by drug class, (antibiotics, anti-virals, anti-hypertensives, etc). I like this arrangement because it allows me to compare similar drugs in the same class. I also like the index in the back of the book that lists individual drugs alphabetically, so I can have instant access to a particular drug without paging through an entire section.

There is no other drug manual that has the complete information that this book has. There are cheaper manuals, but if you want more than just surface information on a drug, then this is the volume to purchase.

Most highly recommended.

Jim "Konedog" Koenig

This reference provides complete monographs for more than 900 generic and 3,000 trade drugs. Strengths: The leader in nursing drug handbooks. Thoroughly and methodically reviewed for accuracy and currency. Therapeutic organization offers the user more information than merely an A-Z presentation; drugs used for similar indications are found in the same chapter. Alerts, I.V. administration, off-label indications, and rapid-onset interactions give readers all the information needed right at their fingertips.

better, but could still use improvement 3 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

Several chapters, such as the one on the spine, lower extremities, skin, and pulmonary system are, indeed, quite well-written and fairly easy to follow.

The chapter on upper extremities, however, is simply in deplorable shape.

Moreover, the AMA guides did not do a good job of explaining when it is appropriate to use a certain method and when it is not. in many cases, the evaluator is not sure which method to use, even after a careful reading of the guides.

The overarching philosophy of the Guides is not explained as well as it should be.

All in all, however, a vast improvement over the much more difficult to use fourth edition.

needless to say, a physician using this book needs both an instructor and an appropriate patient population to refine his/her skills as a disability evaluator.

Editorial Review:

This is a standard in quality evaluations, and is the approved uniform way to evaluate, measure and report impairment. The material in the fifth edition is scientifically and consensus based, and is prepared by society experts. All body systems are covered with significant improvements in major chapters including cardiology, respiratory, muscular-skeletal, and skin. Also covers new conditions including HIV and latex allergy. Mandated or recommended in over 40 states of the US, and in Canada and Australia.

Great images loose value when miniaturized. 1 out of 5 stars.
3 of 5 people found this review helpful.

It is frustrating and sad to see Dr. Netter's art being miniaturized.
The book should be sold together with a microscope.

Great for Physical therapists 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

This is a great, small book that can be used for quick reference when working with orthopedic patients. The pictures are small but it is not meant as a true anatomical atlas. It includes some nice x-rays, plenty of common pathological conditions and a few quick tests.

Editorial Review:

Introducing the new and definitive orthopedic anatomy atlas for students and clinicians! This concise, easy-to-use atlas of orthopedic anatomy uses Dr. Frank Netter images from both the Atlas of Human Anatomy and the 13-volume Netter Collection of Medical Illustrations.

  • Tables listing key information on bones, joints, muscles, and nerves highlight each Netter image.
  • Each chapter contains useful clinical information on disorders, trauma, history and physical exam, radiology, surgical approaches, and minor procedures.
  • Information is presented in tabular format for easy reference.
  • Key material is highlighted in different colors depending on its content.
  • 450 Netter images in a portable 6" x 9" format.
  • Four-color design throughout.

Wonderful guide to fibro 5 out of 5 stars.
26 of 26 people found this review helpful.

I'm only halfway through, but so far, this book is an incredible resource. I've only had fibro for two years, but as a health care professional and patient, this book has helped me to understand my condition better and has helped me to explain it to others better. I work in a position where I teach patients all day, and I have found resources in this book that has allowed me to explain to fibro patients why they feel the way they do. I would reccommend this book to anyone with fibro. But I do feel that some of the language is geared toward the medical community or someone who is familiar with medical jargon.

Editorial Review:

Fibromyalgia is a severe musculoskeletal pain and fatigue syndrome that afflicts approximately 3 to 6 million Americans. Fibromyalgia: The Complete Guide from Medical Experts and Patients is a compilation of a diverse group of health care practitioners and a comprehensive guide for patients and families. The book provides authoritative, practical advice and answers to common questions about this condition to help patients and families achieve a greater understanding of all aspects of dealing with fibromyalgia. Physicians incorporate newest research on fibromyalgia. This resource offers material never presented in any other fibromyalgia book.
