Eat Right for Your Blood Type 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

A must read book for everyone who is serious about health - as a pharmacist for almost 30 years, I have been wondering why certain medications would work for some people and why it doesn't work for others - I found the answers, finally. It is very important for some people to eat what is best for their blood type in order to get well. 1 of my pharmacy students lost over 20 lbs in just a few months and she has been keeping her weight down thru eating accordingly!

Editorial Review:

Dr. Peter J. D'Adamo has established himself as the world's most popular and respected authority on the connection between blood type and eating, cooking and living. Eat Right 4 Your Type, Cook Right 4 Your Type, and Live Right 4 Your Type have created an international phenomenon.

Now comes the essential reference book to answer all your questions about conditions, herbs, supplements, medication and food. From asthma to sore throat, from cancer to thrombosis, this guide recommends treatment for hundreds of conditions, citing rigorous studies that detail the frequency and severity of the conditions for each blood type.

wait, there's more 5 out of 5 stars.

Lexi-Comp's Drug Information Handbook is the bomb. No nagging adds like the PDR; just the facts, ma'am. More eye friendly than previous editions, and still packed with about a gillion tables in the appendix. Drug names are now in red. This is the cat's meow; I probably use it once a day in patient care. Shipping and price are much better through Amazon than through the publisher.

drg information handbook 5 out of 5 stars.

A great quick guide on drug information, perhaps, the best one. Full monographs of almost all of the drugs, including interactions. Much necessary to the pharmacists and other health professionals.

good pharmacy reference 4 out of 5 stars.

just that, a good pharmacy reference. It's a good addition to my other resources and is easy to use.

Great classic pharmacy reference! 5 out of 5 stars.

This book is great. It's too large to carry in your white coat, but as a desktop reference it's unbeatable. I am a student pharmacist on rotations and it has already helped me immensely. I don't have a PDA, so this book is great for looking up quick details. The new features (drug names in red, larger size, reference charts in the back) make this much better than previous editions. Usually I just buy books "to have" and never really use them, but I've used this countless times in the first month I've had it.

Editorial Review:

....quick access to all medications found in the Drug Information Handbook in a concise, abridged format...with a modified Adverse Reactions field that includes only those reactions >1%, unless significant or life-threatening.

Very good, if used correctly 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 5 people found this review helpful.

I'm a surgical intern about to take the ABSITE for the first time in a few short weeks. I have been carrying the 2nd edition of Fiser with me everywhere I go for the last 2 months or so. It is great for those 5 minute downtimes while waiting for room turnover or while the MVC is in the scanner. The new edition is easier on the eyes with the color images (yay pictures!). While there may still be small errors, for the most part this book gives you great, concise, important information on the major areas of Gen. Surgery. One good strategy is to read a chapter in your main text, then read the corresponding chapter in Fiser during downtime the next day or two, then do questions on the subject.

Editorial Review:

This is a short, thorough study guide for the American Board of Surgery In-Training Examination (ABSITE), which residents in general surgery must take each year and residents going into surgical subspecialties must take during the year of their general surgery training. Information is presented in outline format to facilitate quick look-up. Every component of the exam is covered--basic science and clinical knowledge in all areas tested. The book covers the latest diagnostic and therapeutic material to be incorporated into the exam--as determined by residents who have just taken it.

The Best Book on the Disney Approach...Period 5 out of 5 stars.
10 of 10 people found this review helpful.

"But I'm not in the hospital business." Neither am I. But I am a Disney Institute alumnus and an avid practitioner of the Disney Approach to People Management, Quality Service, and Loyalty; and I've found "If Disney Ran Your Hospital" more helpful than anything else in print. I think you will, too. Here's why. A number of books explain the principles and practices that drive Disney. Most are helpful, and one, "Be Our Guest" by the Disney Institute, is indispensable. But Fred Lee does one thing better than anyone else: he models how to transfer those principles to another industry. That's what he did at the Disney Institute and that's what he will help you do in your business. Granted, his applications come from healthcare. But along the way Fred Lee demonstrates how to translate and apply the Disney Approach outside of the Disney setting, and that's what's so helpful--he provides an example that the rest of us can follow. If you're interested in benchmarking the Disney Approach, you need this book. One more thing: Fred Lee can write. "If Disney Ran Your Hospital" is the best book on the Disney Approach...period.

Editorial Review:

A captivating book, filled with stories and examples, will leave its readers inspired with fresh insights and new hope. A must for every hospital manager's library and required reading in every health care curriculum.

fantastic resource 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

As a pharmacist, this is absolutely the first book I turn to for any question about medication and breastfeeding. It's very readable, and has both the quick, "bottom-line" recommendation and an explanation of the quality and quantity of research that led to that conclusion. I recommend it to anyone in the medical field who might encounter a breastfeeding patient as well as any woman who is currently breastfeeding or plans to in the near future. The author's website ([...]) is also useful.

If the answers you're looking for aren't here, or if you're looking for detailed recommendations about medications in pregnancy, try your local teratology information service (www.otispregnancy.org). Most of them accept calls from both the public and health care professionals, many of them handle both lactation and pregnancy questions, and it's free to call and get information. I'm not affiliated with them in any way, but I've found them a very useful resource that doesn't seem to be very well publicized.

Priceless for students, great for researchers and excellent for literature lovers. 4 out of 5 stars.

This review is for the book, not the CD ROM or any other Bartlett's related electronic media.
If you consider yourself well read, it will not take you long to find out where "Bartlett's Familiar Quotations" fails and be somewhat disappointed. If you don't read a lot, and need the book for school or reference, it will probably be adequate.
Certainly no book of quotations can be exhaustive and Bartlett's never claims to be, their are; however, some vital literary idioms that are noticeably missing.
Having covered the book's shortcomings, I cannot point out that as a resource and reference this book can be not only helpful, but indispensable for college students.
"Bartlett's Familiar Quotations" is like the King of the Cliff's Notes research, and just like Cliff's Notes, His Majesty should never be used to replace the material it summarizes. A basic understanding of the context of the book's quotations is far more valuable then the quotes themselves.
REVIEW EVERY BOOK YOU READ! OR AT LEAST REFERENCE REGULARLY.

Editorial Review:

Thoroughly revised and updated, the new edition of the classic reference encompasses more than twenty thousand quotations, arranged chronologically and featuring the wit and wisdom of such newcomers as Russell Baker, Mel Brooks, and Salman Rushdie. 75,000 first printing. $150,000 ad/promo.
