Editorial Review:

Cancer can now be cured, not just treated! We are not accustomed to thinking about a cure for cancer. We think of remission as the only possibility. But this book is not about remission. It is about a cure. This is possible because in 1990 Dr. Clark discovered the true cause of cancer. The cause is a certain parasite, for which I have found evidence in every cancer case regardless of the type of cancer. So lung cancer is not caused by smoking, colon cancer is not caused by a low roughage diet, breast cancer is not caused by a fatty diet, retinal blastoma is not caused b y a rare gene, and pancreatic cancer is not caused by alcohol consumption. Although these are all contributing factors, they are not THE cause. Once the true cause was found the cure became obvious. but would it work? I set a goal of 100 cases to be cured of cancer before publishing my findings. That mark was passed in December 1992. The discovery of the cause and cure of all cancers has stood the test of time and here it is!

This book is incredible! 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Thank goodness for this book...I have read it since the day I got it and it keeps me on track for rethinking my ideas of the birthing process....I want a calm and natural birth and for the hundreds of women who shared their stories of childbirth, this gives me hope that you can indeed survive childbirth with your attitude intact. It also gave me even more belief that my midwife is a better option for me and that I can count on her for the support I will need to deliver my baby without medical intervention unless it is necessary.

Editorial Review:

Here is the 4th edition of the classic book on home birth that introduced a whole generation of women to the concept of natural childbirth. Back again are even more amazing birthing tales, including those from women who were babies in earlier editions and stories about Old Order Amish women attended by the Farm midwives.

Also new is information about the safety of techniques routinely used in hospitals during and after birth, information on postpartum depression and maternal death, and recent statistics on births managed by The Farm Midwives.

From the amazing birthing tales to care of the newborn, Spiritual Midwifery is still one of the best books an expectant mother could own. Includes resources for doulas, childbirth educators, birth centers, and other organizations and alliances dedicated to improving maternity care at home and in hospitals.

Hard to reference 3 out of 5 stars.
9 of 10 people found this review helpful.

Although full of usefull info; it is Very hard to find that info when you need it most. I am an ER PA and would find this pocket reference more useful if it had a better index. As of Jan 2007 I would recommend PEPID ER suite over the Tarascons for those that are handier with PDA's.

A very good pocket reference 4 out of 5 stars.

Excellent Review of Neuroanatomy 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

For doctors looking to improve their clinical skills in neurology, this is the book. Infact, this is the book that I wish I had in medical school. I like the clinical orientation. The neuro exam is related to anatomic structures multiple times, from different angles. For instance, when reviewing neuroanatomy, the anatomy is presented and then a comment about resulting deficits from damage to this area and a brief comment on the aproach to testing. Then during the neuro exam the test is illucidated and comments refer back to anatomic structures and deficits. During clinical exams you get to refine and practice what you have learned elsewhere. In the world of MRI and CT I have enjoyed relating what I learn in each section to my patients. While certainly not necessary to fulfill my job, I feel more confident as we move into the age of stroke tPA and embolectomy that I will be ready when one of my patients suffers a bleed while in house.

Editorial Review:

Neuroanatomy is, by nature, an incredibly complex subject. Too often, overwhelmed by anatomical detail, students miss out on the functional beauty of the nervous system and its relevance to clinical practice. "Neuroanatomy through Clinical Cases" resolves this dilemma, using over 100 actual clinical cases and high quality radiologic images in an interactive format to bring neuroanatomy to life. With this approach, structural details take on immediate relevance as they are being learned, and students are able to integrate knowledge of disparate functional systems, since a single lesion may affect several different neural structures and pathways.

Editorial Review:

For decades indispensable, the AMA Manual of Style continues to provide editorial support to the medical and scientific publishing community. Since the 1998 publication of the 9th edition, however, the world of medical publishing has rapidly modernized, and the intersection of research and publishing has become ever more complex. The 10th edition of the AMA Manual of Style, published in early 2007, brings this definitive manual into the 21st century with a broadened international perspective.
In doing so, the 10th edition has expanded its electronic guidelines, with the understanding that authors now routinely submit articles through online systems and often cite Web-only content. Ethical and legal issues receive increased attention, with detailed guidelines on authorship, conflicts of interest, scientific misconduct, intellectual property, and the protection of individuals' rights in scientific research and publication. The new edition examines research ethics and editorial independence and features new material on indexing and searching as well as medical nomenclature.
JAMA and the Archives Journals, one of the most groups of medical publications in the world, have lent members of their expert staff of professional journal editors to the committee that has produced this edition. Extensively peer-reviewed, the 10th edition provides a welcome and improved standard for the growing international medical community. More than a style manual, this 10th edition offers invaluable guidance on how to navigate the dilemmas that authors and researchers and their institutions, medical editors and publishers, and members of the news media who cover scientific research confront in a society that has thrust these issues center stage.

High Yield, Yet dense 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

This book offers a Q&A style review for Step2
It is very targeted/concise questions with pithy answers.

I find it to be good review, but it is not a good source to learn material. In other words, I would start with a blue prints then review with this text.

good review source 4 out of 5 stars.

This is a good review book that gives you pertinent information straight and to the point. I recommend it for your last phase of preparation once you are getting ready to take the CK

four to five stars 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Excellent book for step 2 review. It looks small, but it actually covers a large amount of material in a reader-friendly format. Well written and well-edited. I would strongly suggest anyone taking step2 to consider this book before purchasing boards/wards, first aid, crush, or step up.

And Adjunct Book; Not Comprehensive in the slightest 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

The format of the book involves several high yield questions or scenarios in each subject as opposed to a comprehensive review of each subject. Therefore, you should not use this book alone or even consider it a main source of information. It should be view as an adjunct source to a more comprehensive source such as "First Aid for the USMLE Step 2" or "Step Up to the USMLE Step 2."

That being said, there are some nice features to this book. I did USMLEWORLD before reading this book and several of the questions I missed could have been answered had I read this book. It is very high yield and worth purchasing. However, I caution anyone who thinks this book is the Bible for Step 2 study or even if they think this book offers some "secrets". Most of the material in this book is fairly well known and obvious stuff but there are some useful tidbits in each chapter that is tested on that isn't obvious.

Editorial Review:

This valuable book contains 750 review questions and answers (primarily brief clinical vignette followed by multiple choice questions, with answers and explanations) for preparation for the USMLE Step 2 exam.

Very Detailed 4 out of 5 stars.

It is a very good book very well detailed and specific. However, it is a bit overwhelming if there are other thick books assigned in the course. Since this is one of 2 other books we have to read for Psychopathology (course for Social Work Graduate students) it is big read!
