Useful aid 4 out of 5 stars.
4 of 6 people found this review helpful.

I found this book to be useful to me as an intern doing the hospital admissions. However, it does not cover all different conditions that we are admitting for. Also, some suggestions for tests and treatments don't agree with my hospital's standard of care.

useful 1 out of 5 stars.

I'm a 2nd year med student and have found this book useful for writing admit orders in my clinical medicine class. It details the process for you and for many different situations.

Editorial Review:

This essential manual brings together important management guidelines for Medicine, Pediatrics, Obstetrics, and Gynecology in one compact book. It is a concise and complete overview of Family Practice.

4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

This book rocks! It covers the most common ailments seen in family medicine and concisely describes the pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, differential diagnoses, diagnostic evaluation, and treatment for each one. Studying from this book helps you put everything together before the family medicine shelf exam by giving you all the essential information with 50 sample questions at the end. It's an excellent review and a great reference to have for the clinical years.

Breeze to Read 5 out of 5 stars.
10 of 10 people found this review helpful.

This book is a breeze to read and help you get the whole jist in order to make a generalized diagnosis when one sees a patient. It also includes the Examination techniques. But, you will still require a textbook in order to write the answers to difficult theory questions. I STRONGLY recommend this book as the BEST PRIMER to your approach to Opthalmology as it is quick reading, helps you become familiar and understand the meanings of all the words used in opthalmology(and good glossary, too), has a very systematic/organized approach, and the information just sinks in. After breezing through this book(3 days), you can run through your Opthalmology textbooks much, much faster.

Editorial Review:

Text focuses on material most vital for the non-ophthalmologist. Gives strong emphasis to common disorders, their diagnosis and management, up to the point of referral. Only minimal emphasis is given to the technical diagnostic and therapeutic measures exclusive to the ophthalmologist. For primary care physicians. Softcover.

Nice but not very useful 3 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

This little book is nice but I don't think it's very useful for residents. It has formats on how to write orders for certain diagnoses but it doesn't cover everything.

Great product 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I found this book very useful as it has all the current treatment strategies for common diseases and conditions, also has ACLS, EKG basic information, laboratory values, clinical history writing recommendations and guide, and other useful data. It's so hard to find correct and summarized treatments in books, but this books puts all of this together and you just have to look for the disease and the treatment guidelines are displayed there. I recommend it for medicine students and doctors.

Medicine,2007 3 out of 5 stars.

Easy Access to most encountered medical problems encountered in the ER, oriented in base of admission and managment plans.

Pocket size easy to carry around.

Editorial Review:

This invaluable handbook has been useful to countless numbers of students, residents, and physicians. This book reviews medical therapeutics and management for all medical problems. Treatment and laboratory tests for each disease are listed in a well-organized manner.

Strong content, weak binding 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

This is a true pocket guide with lots of great and useful information. I like that the authors give precise information on treatment. Unfortunately, the only drawback that I have found so far is that the binding is very weak and easy to break by just opening the book fully. It will not hold up very long without treating it with TLC.

PAGES KEEP FALLING OUT. VERY POORLY PUT TOGETHER. ALMOST EVERY TIME I OPEN THE BOOK OR CAHANGE PAGES THE PAGES COME LOOSE. 1 out of 5 stars.

AT BEST A ONE BECAUSE OF THE WAY IT IS PUT TOGETHER. PAGES FALL OUT.

Clinical Strategy review book 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

This book is extremely useful in practice. It has screening issues readily available. Easy to find problems as well. Would recommend for clinic work. Just the right size and organized really well. MDs and NPs, as well as PA's would find this book really helpful

Great book, but very weak binding 4 out of 5 stars.

Content: 5 stars
Binding: 0 stars
This book is excellent in content, covering most systems. Very handy for the clinical area of primary care with its pocket size. Great for students! My only reason for not giving this handy pocket guide five stars is due to the weak binding. The pages fall out very easily, which is disappointing. Other than that, I would highly recommend this book.

Editorial Review:

This concise handbook outlines current management strategies for ambulatory patients with common disorders. It includes current guidelines for cardiology, gastroenterology, and gynecology.

Anatomy and Pathology: The World's Best Anatomical Charts 5 out of 5 stars.
6 of 9 people found this review helpful.

The charts are excellent... photos are colorful and labeled nicely. The print is a little small on the charts but the color and diagrams are very clear and excellently done.

Great for the Classroom! 5 out of 5 stars.

Editorial Review:

All parents, regardless of age, income, or marital status, have the same goal—to do the best possible for their child. But despite one's good intentions, the life-enhancing abundance heaped on our children often becomes more than they need or can handle, and the line is crossed into overindulgence. In How Much is Enough?, best-selling parenting and family experts Clarke, Dawson, and Bredehoft offer an in-depth look at how damaging overindulgence is to children, affecting their ability to learn many of the important life skills they need to thrive as adults. In warm and empathetic language, the authors reveal the three different ways children are overindulged (giving too much, being over-nurturing, and providing soft structure), guide parents in determining whether they're doing something overindulgent, and show them how to do things differently. The truth is that overindulgence is not the badge of a bad parent; in fact, it comes directly from having a good and generous heart. Based on solid, groundbreaking research involving 1,200 parents and their children, How Much is Enough? gives parents the insight and advice they need to parent in an effective and loving way and put their children on track for a happy and successful life.

a must for internal medicine and primary care rotation 5 out of 5 stars.
6 of 6 people found this review helpful.

this is an easy to carry pocketsize guide to current guidelines in the treatment, screening and prevention of different diseases. this has helped me in structuring my management during my clinical rotation. it is easy to read, and very organized.

Snore 1 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Nothing at all exciting in this one. Nothing. It is boring material, and things you practicing primary care physicians probably already know. I would get Conn's 2008 for a better current text.

Is it really current? 3 out of 5 stars.
0 of 1 people found this review helpful.

The book is laid out in a not so interesting manner and consists mostly of tables. The guidelines proclaim they are current and as of 2008 but there are a few mistakes here and there which are glaring. For example, the book mentions that Impaired Fasting Glucose is between 110 to 125, when it has been years since this guideline was revised and values between 100 to 125 is considered Impaired Fasting Glucose. Not excusable, by any count, since you need to be aware of these facts to effectively monitor your patients and prevent the onset of a disease.

Editorial Review:

"Current Practice Guidelines in Primary Care 2008" draws information from many sources and presents them in an easy-to-use, comprehensive package for use by any primary care clinician. It offers quick access to the latest guidelines for the most appropriate preventive services, screening methods, and treatment approaches for commonly encountered conditions in the outpatient setting.
