I am a medical transcriptionist and I can HIGHLY recommend this book. It paid for itself within the first week. If you are specializing in cardiology, this is the book to get.

I recently took a job in cardiovascular biomarker research and found that this book was an excellent resource -- not just for the cardiovascular terms, but also the genetic terminology! I use it frequently, since spellcheck doesn't recognize any of these specialized terms.

As an experienced critical care RN, I have owned and read many cc books. This is by far the most practical and useful book out there. It is written in a question/answer format that makes it easy to read cover to cover as well as easy to refer to for quick reference. It gives excellent concise yet detailed rationale. It uses language and terms that are used at the bedside. All answers are written for practical bedside use rather than vague theoretical answers. K. Puntillo is one of the leading cc nurses in her field. She, as well as most of the contributors, are nursing faculty, researchers, and clinical nurses at UCSF, the #1 nursing school and nursing research facility in the US.

This book is way overpriced @ $7.50. It lacks any detail whatsoever and is written at 1st year medical student level....really. Save your money and get the Tarascon critical care pocket guide, that will give you more bang for your buck.

I am a senior nursing student and I am appalled at this book. Our instructor loves it and has been using it. I brought to her attention that in the pediatric module, some of the pretest answers are WRONG!!! I know they are wrong- or I would not be a senior nursing student!!!! Out of all the majors and careers and textbooks that need to give accurate information- ACUTE CARE NURSING IS THE ONE!!!!! This is sooo extremely important! I am very disappointed.
