Awesome Pocket Book Guide - Great for those in Dietetics 5 out of 5 stars.

I'm currently a Dietetic Intern. This book has been, and still is, a useful pocket book guide that I use everyday for my internship. The book has almost all the medications that I currently deal with in my clinical rotation. The type of information that this book gives are as follows:

1. Alternative Name(s)
2. The drug's affect
3. Diet (with our without food), what foods to avoid with the med (ie. grapefruit)
4. Oral/GI affects
5. S/Conds
6. Affects on Pregnancy
7. Blood/Serum affects
8. Urinary affects
9. What to monitor
10. Ways to be adminstered (the drug)
11. and more

Additionally, the book provides (what I find to be very useful) are Lab Values, their normal ranges, and reasons why they might be elevated or below normal limits.

There is more within this pocket guide.

The only thing I don't like is that it says "Pocket Guide"; it's not really that small, it's quite big. Don't expect it to fit in your pant pocket. It will fit in your lab coat pocket, but it's quite still big. I suggest to carry it with your binder. Just don't misplace it; I've done it many times already on the different hospital floors.

I highly recommend this food and drug medication guide -- especially those in the dietetics profession.

I am a bit surprised at some of the negative comments on this book, as I love it most thoroughly. But then again, it is not the right choice for someone who wants to rush through a care plan and give it a loose going over. This book is thorough, comprehensive, and it is dedicated to producing high quality results. These are the reasons that I rely heavily on this book on the floor as the nurse who has to update and revise all the care plans, bringing them into compliance and improving them. This book is for all nursing students and practicing nurses who believe that the care plan carries a significant amount of weight in the nursing process. If you are serious about good results, upgrade from the "less is more" books that shield you from the data to the Granddaddy of Nursing Diagnosis Books.

This book is very concise and covers all of the necessary information for a Pulmonary Disease course. Also worthy of mention is the fact that is is the top selling book in the field in it's category. I find it perfect for a Respiratory Therapist, Medical Student, or Physician's Assistant due to the easy to learn format and clear writing style of the author. Also, rumor has it that West is coming out with a combined Pathophysiology and Physiology for Pulmonary that should be well done as well.

I was so surprised when I got the package... I was expected quick and easy ways to remember the material, but what I got was a book cut in half. Yes, it has the information I need, but I just thought it would be a whole LOT smaller....

I liked the review cards. Of course they aren't your typical flash cards, that would have been nice, but they do contain a lot of useful information. I am taking my ASCP certification next month, and have mainly been studying these cards. Most of everything that I studied in class is contained in these cards. I suggest breaking them up into categories and then keeping them together that way. It doesn't seem like so much when you do that. Overall, they are very helpful and I recommend getting them to help study for you registry exam. I guess I'll find out how useful after I take mine.

Very detailed and precise, yet easy to understand information. Highly recommend it to anyone preparing to take the CMA or RMA exams. I passed my RMA exam with a high score. If you want to pass those exams, get this book! I commend the authors, they know what MA students need to know to pass those tests.

Just Get the BOOK!!! Yes That Good!!! It helps you think about every aspect of a concept. Example, path & Physio of what's going on with the patient. It brings important concepts in medicine in extremely valid cases which are written "like" the NBME questions. I would rec this book 100% worth every penny!!!

This is not bad as another book to have for Step1 Prep. Don't overwhelm yourself with too many books because there are ALOT of books out there. Just pick a handful becuase otherwise you will have conflicting information.

I bought this book after I read all 8 UCV (Undeground Clinical Vignettes) from the same authors. I was able to compare them. Obviously it has fewer cases, most of them are identical. FA team rushed this book in production and as a result there are lots of mistakes and really inconvinient layout. My only recommendation is to buy a cheaper previous edition of UCV books (ISBN 0632045590).

I'm taking Pathophysiology in Nursing School and not having had A&P for quite some time, this book was a great place to start. It helped me visualize the disease processes (great for visual learners like me) and it condenses the key points. THEN I could open my patho text and read without feeling completely overwhelmed. I recommend this book.

I'm taking antaomy in college and needed a way to review and study the things we cover in the lab without spending every waking moment at school. This book allows me to color each area with a different color so I can study the entire organ or specific area when reviewing for a test. I got an "A" on the first test I took after getting this book!!!

The pictures are printed on the front of each page, and nothing is printed on the backs. This is an important characteristic for a coloring book. The only thing I'd like to see is a movable page-sized piece of imprint-resistant paper or plastic inside the book. It would help eliminate the imprints that occur on the page following the one you've just colored. Other than that, it is a great book.
