Editorial Review:

As an accomplished doctor of veterinary medicine, Martin Goldstein is well respected for his 25 years worth of experience in the field--experience he effectively utilizes in conjunction with his expertise in holistic medicine in his new book, The Nature of Animal Healing: The Path to Your Pet's Health, Happiness, and Longevity. Goldstein begins with a broad explanation of the origins of diseases in pets, then moves on to taking action against those diseases, not only offering thorough discussions of specific ailments--including cancer, allergies, and arthritis--and the holistic medicines available to help in the healing process, but also speaking to the "dubious legacy of vaccines" as well as the questionable quality of pet food. Finally, Goldstein turns his attention to the spiritual realm, addressing both the bonds that we have with our pets--and how those bonds aid in preventing and fighting our pets' health problems--as well as dealing with the death of a beloved pet. Goldstein's expert advice, inclusion of inspiring real-life cases, and thorough resource "compendium of holistic books, newsletters, Web sites, veterinarians, and associations" make this book a valuable addition to any pet owner's library. --Julia King

This title deserves more than 5 stars! The Pasquini couple did a great job! the book is a must for every vet. student as well as for bovine practitioners.
The information is outlined in table form profusely illustrated. The text is written right to the point in a short and practical manner.

I have been trying to get a hold of this book for some time now, its not available to buy in-store in Ireland and has to be bought over the internet, and amazon had a great offer ! This book is amazing...such an amount of information that is actually extremely useful and to the point...in such a small book, small enough to fit into a lab coat pocket...well maybe not for lab coat....if you're on the farm...but you know what I mean. The information is very concise and to the point, telling you what you need to know instantly. I love the little animations- very clever. The chapter by chapter listing of each system makes it easy to locate what you're looking for. And the differential diagnosis chapter will be a godsend this year when I start rotations. All in all- very very worth the money.
Have to love all the pasquini does !

A must have for all sheep owners 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

This book is my bible for raising my sheep. It covers every problem I have so far encountered and has saved many a ewe and lambs over the years. Even my vet has read through it when he has had a question, I think that says alot right there! It is easy to read and understand, and the charts in the back help alot to find the problems. I definantly recomend this book, over all others I have found.

Great book to answer questions 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This book was a lamb and ewe saver. My very first lambing season I had the lambing chapter practically memorized before hand. And my first ewe had problems. But by reading the hints, encouragement from my husband and gritting my teeth - I got the lamb pulled out. Saved both the lamb and ewe - second lamb born with no problems. Lambs are now six weeks old and growing like weeds.

Great Help 5 out of 5 stars.

Have found this to be a most helpful means of identifying and treating several problems I encountered this year with newborns. So nice to have a ready access, which immediately pointed me to a possible solution or solutions to try when I was at a loss. I highly recommend this book!

Turner's Surgery 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This is basically the same book as Turners surgery book. Same excellent and concise explanations on how to perform sugeries, anaesthetics for surgery and how to avoid post operative complications. The newer edition has updated the original book for more modern antibiotics and anaesthetic techniques as well as some newer procedures, but is in essence the same book as before.
It is an excellent book for college and the new graduate, as the pictures also allow you to visualise the procedure more easily. The only downfall is the anaesthesia from an equine point of view, but then again its not an anaesthesia book!

Editorial Review:

The Third Edition of this classic surgery text is the ideal resource for veterinary students and equine and mixed large animal practitioners. The book can be used both as an introduction to the fundamental techniques of large animal surgery and as an easy-to-use guide for quick reference in the field. The step-by-step technique sections have been restructured to allow faster access to information, including objectives and lists of equipment needed for each procedure. In addition to general updates throughout, this edition features new sections on minimally invasive surgery, laser surgery, and laparotomy. Coverage includes surgical techniques for horses, cows, pigs, goats, and select exotic species. Most techniques presented can be performed without the advantages of a fully equipped large animal hospital or teaching institution.

Great Reference and learning Tool 5 out of 5 stars.
16 of 16 people found this review helpful.

Goat Medicine is a MUST for folks who have goats and want to understand and learn about goat health and diseases. Don't run your veterinarian off! but this book can help the owner/manager recognize symptons, understand prevention and work out reasonable treatments...treatments that work into an already too busy day. Yes, there is theory.... Great if you like to understand and run ideas through your own head. skip that part, if it doesn't make sense, and go onto more basics-- prevention, control, treatment.

If my 75 animals aren't 100%, this is the first book I open. And the book stays on my truck seat, kitchen table, bedside until some questions are answered. There are many books with basic goat care. If that is what you want, fine. If you want to dig a little deeper, understand goat health and learn more about your animals, then THIS IS THE BOOK FOR YOU!! Well worth the money..just by saving/helping one animal.
P.S. Exceptional for international goat health..if that's your thing.

Editorial Review:

Ideal for any practitioner concerned with promoting the health and productivity of commercial herds, this book constitutes a single complete source for current information on medical and behavioral problems, presenting signs, relevant diseases, drug therapies with precise dosages, management "pearls" and alternative approaches to care.

Helpful, but not user friendly 3 out of 5 stars.
9 of 9 people found this review helpful.

This book is useful as a self test, but the way the book is designed makes it difficult and tedious to follow. One spends far to much time leafing through the book to look up corresponding symptoms and lab results for each case. A change of format would make this book much easier to use and less frustrating.
