This book will easily get anyone who really understands it a 5 on the exam, especially if you can score well on the practice tests in the back. It's better for review, rather than learning. If you want an AP book that you can learn from, I suggest using 5 Steps to a 5. I never really understood electromagnetic induction or nuclear physics from my textbook, and this book was even worse for that, but 5 Steps to a 5 cleared up all my issues with those topics in about an hour. I think that this book is way better for review, though, mostly because the questions they ask at the end of each chapter are better and help your understanding of the concepts.

Don't be discouraged if you don't score well on the practice tests in the back, because the actual AP exam is much more conceptual and less calculation-based. But if you can do the Princeton Review tests, you'll have no problem with the real one. It's not overly difficult though, so don't let that discourage you from buying it.

Overall, this definitely gets a 5/5 for its explanations and for being so concise and on target regarding information the exam will test you on.

This has got to be one of the most useless textbooks I've ever encountered in any subject. Moreso than any other math or science text I've seen, the authors commit the cardinal sin of solving only the simplest possible problems in in their "explanations", leaving you to fit together the pieces on the other (often rather difficult) problems at the end of the chapters. And if you thought the solutions manual would save you, SURPRISE! It won't - it only solves every 6th problem or so and generally delivers strange and convoluted solutions to simple problems. As far as the text goes, its explanations are so watered down you'd think you were looking through a text intended for junior high school (or younger) students. It constantly touts some bogus web service called "WileyPlus", which seems to exist purely to make the lives of teachers easier at their students' cost (and which you have to pay EVEN MORE to access, even if you bought the book new!). To sum it up, this text is absolute trash and an insult to the subject matter it teaches. If some professor lists this text on his or her syllabus, pitch a fit.

I have heard of Feynman's collection of physics lectures for a long time and had intended reading them "one of these days" but never seemed to get to it. When a couple of friends and I formed a book club to discuss science and other types of expository prose, and one of them suggested this book, I decided "this is the day."

In reading Six Easy Pieces, I had a distinct sympathy with Feynman's undergraduate students. The man's mind must have run at the speed of light, ideas just firing off like gunshots. For a decade that had only reel to reel tape recorders, and big ones at that, the only resort for the student taking notes would have to have been a strong skill at shorthand.

I had expected a more difficult and thorough book, but the author presents a very simple, almost too brief, analysis of basic physics in this volume, which is a section of a larger text based on his lectures. In it he illustrates the close association, even a basic underpinning, of other sciences by physics. He notes relationships with earth sciences, particularly geology, with astronomy/cosmology, biology, and chemistry in particular. What he doesn't do is go into very great detail on how these areas relate to one another, his discussion of chemistry being the most thorough of them.

The book is very short, and the author spends much of it on the history and relationships of physics as a science. It is more like a general introduction written to preface material presented later in the course. He does a nice job of explaining the issue of particle/wave duality in electromagnetic and other waves in the final chapter of the book, which also suggests that the bulk of the book is "introductory" in nature and that more is to come later.

Athough the author presents some equations and graphs, those who are math-shy needn't be daunted; they are straight forward and helpful in understanding the points the author makes. Furthermore, Feynman's narative style goes very rapidly. He jumps from topic to topic, intercalating brief stories and amusing comments to put his message across in an entertaining manner, rather than in a ponderous discussion or chalk boards full of formulae.

Although the reader who has no physics background may enjoy learning something of the field through this book, I suspect those with a science background may find one of the more recent books on the subject more informative.

I didn't really learn vector calculus until this book came along. It does in a few paragraphs that takes a whole section in a calc book to do and makes more sense.

This book was a part of my favorite physics course ever, Electricity and Magnetism. The excersises are of great value to anyone taking entrance exams or the GRE subject test. Explanations may take a few tries to grasp fully but if you do the proper math reviews and take the time to become intimate with the material you will be rewarded with a superior understanding of the subject.

I used the greek translation for my undergrad electrodynamics. I would agree with some reviewers that it might not be too mathematically advanced. But you need to read it to understand the fundamentals. It gives a very clear and crisp view of the fundamental theory of electromagnetism. If you want to go beyond that and use more advanced mathematics try Electricity and Magnetism (Berkeley Physics Course - Volume 2) which is an amazing book. I think with these two you are unbeatable.

I'm not really one for science books, but this book has got to be the exception. If you have any chronic or 'incurable' disease, try to hold on - because fortunately there are at least a few doctors and researchers out there who are bright enough to think outside the box and challenge existing theories regarding the workings of the human body - in particular, the electricity of the human body and how it coincides with the universe.

The author walks the reader through his discoveries that not only is it feasible for the human body to regenerate (just like the salamander's), but most likely, this is what our bodies were designed to do from the get-go, until we surrounded ourselves with electromagnetic fields of pollution so powerful that our perfectly designed DNA, immune systems, cardiovascular systems, endocrine systems, neuromuscular systems became 'confused' by all the external commotion.

The author of this book represents what research 'should be' about, but for the most part isn't, and the reader cannot help but become a part of this researcher's emotion.

If I ever have a chance to meet the author of this book, I will be honored. Until then, I will recommend this book to anyone who values the perfectly amazing life God gave them and the perfectly synchronized universe He created to sustain that life. I only pray that there are more reseachers out there bravely willing to poke holes in the current theories that the human body is merely a collection of chemical reactions, unopposed by a higher force.

The author touches on this, and I am in agreement - I have to wonder if perhaps all the bad we see around us today - broken marriages, suicides, bombings, disease, pain, suffering, greed - is this merely a by-product of all the manmade electromagnetic distress surrounding each and every one of us on a daily basis? After reading this book, you will think twice about what we've sacrificed for the sake of 'technology' - everlasting life on earth.
