Confusing listing! 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I'm not sure why Amazon lists "(Library of Veterinary Practice)" in the title, as this seems to imply this is a veterinary resource...other than that, this book is as useful as ever, although the index has taken out the helpful letters to indicate bottom, middle or top of page where drug is located.

Editorial Review:

Updated fully for 2009, the 23rd Edition of the Tarascon Pocket Pharmacopoeia Classic Shirt-Pocket Edition continues the high-quality tradition of a convenient, organized, and concise pocket manual packed with vital drug information meticulously peer-reviewed by experts and clinicians of multiple specialties. It details typical drug dosing (both FDA approved and off-label uses), available trade and generic formulations, metabolism, safety in pregnancy, and lactation, relative drug pricing information, Canadian trade names, and an herbal & alternative therapies section. Multiple tables supplement the drug content, including opioid equivalency, emergency drug infusions, cardiac dysrhythmis protocols, pediatric drug dosing, and much more!

Editorial Review:

The New York Times’s intrepid health reporter investigates the truth about sex, eating, exercise, and other health conundrums

For more than two years, the New York Times’s science and health columnist Anahad O’Connor has tracked down the facts, fictions, and occasional fuzziness of old wives’ tales, conventional-wisdom cures, and other medical mysteries. Now in this lively and fun book, he opens up his case files to disclose the experts’ answers on everything, from which of your bad habits you can indulge (yo-yo dieting does not mess up your metabolism and sitting too close to the television does not hurt your eyes) to what foods actually pack the punch advertised (you can lay off the beet juice!).

A compendium of answers to the curious and nagging questions of how to keep healthy, Never Shower in a Thunderstorm will provide guidance and amusement to anyone who has ever wondered if the mosquitoes really are attacking her more than everyone else. (Yes, they are.)

Horrendous delivery time from amazon.com 1 out of 5 stars.
2 of 5 people found this review helpful.

The WHO classification - is what it is, the definitive text.

What I am annoyed about is that my peers who ordered this book through the actual WHO website, have received their WHO books a month before me, while I have still been standing on one foot waiting for my prerelease order on Nov 19 2008. (Originally this was to have come out Sept 1.)

When I ordered the older version of this text two years ago via the WHO website I had to wait no less then 8 weeks. That is why I chose amazon.com this time.

I would recommend ordering from the WHO website for this, my colleagues have their copies long before me this time. this is important especially if one needs this for an upcoming rotation.

Terrific 5 out of 5 stars.

I've tried Dale Dubin on three different occasions and always gave up midway. This book is easy to read, keeps up your interest, doesn't clog you with unnecessary information, has a good summary at the end of every chapter, good clinical examples are provided and the best part is that it is quite funny. I actually laughed out aloud where he says wolff-parkinson-white and lown-ganong-levine aren't the names of lawfirms!
I managed to finish it in two weeks and it is refreshing to come across an ekg book that doesn't make you want to take extended break times!
Only thing is I wish the author had used more arrows to point out the specific abnormalities and that the last section of practice EKGS was a little more comprehensive.
But I think it is a good resource for residents and students. And I would pick it over Dale Dubin anyday.

Editorial Review:

This popular and practical text presents all the information needed to be able to read EKGs efficiently and accurately. It is designed for medical students in ICM courses or anyone directly involved in patient care in the modern hospital, whether student, teacher, or practitioner. This edition includes more case studies, and each EKG is discussed in its proper clinical context.

This book is a must for nursing students!!! I got 100% on my care plan

Wow! This book is great! 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This book has been so helpful! I am a nursing student and this is very helpful on my case study assignments and also in writing care plans. Everyone always wants to use this book when we break up into groups. It gives a nursing diagnosis, goals & interventions. It also has standard nursing Dx that apply to medical Dx. It's pretty small (maybe 10" x 8") and fits easily in a tote bag when I go to my clinical sites. Overall great book!

Nurses pocket guide. 4 out of 5 stars.

Very Detailed 4 out of 5 stars.

It is a very good book very well detailed and specific. However, it is a bit overwhelming if there are other thick books assigned in the course. Since this is one of 2 other books we have to read for Psychopathology (course for Social Work Graduate students) it is big read!

Editorial Review:

Cancer can now be cured, not just treated! We are not accustomed to thinking about a cure for cancer. We think of remission as the only possibility. But this book is not about remission. It is about a cure. This is possible because in 1990 Dr. Clark discovered the true cause of cancer. The cause is a certain parasite, for which I have found evidence in every cancer case regardless of the type of cancer. So lung cancer is not caused by smoking, colon cancer is not caused by a low roughage diet, breast cancer is not caused by a fatty diet, retinal blastoma is not caused b y a rare gene, and pancreatic cancer is not caused by alcohol consumption. Although these are all contributing factors, they are not THE cause. Once the true cause was found the cure became obvious. but would it work? I set a goal of 100 cases to be cured of cancer before publishing my findings. That mark was passed in December 1992. The discovery of the cause and cure of all cancers has stood the test of time and here it is!
