Nice try, but it falls short. 2 out of 5 stars.

Let me start by saying Im a huge fan of the Cyberpunk RPG, and the entire genre in general. I really wanted to like this book, but it wasnt that great. It was shallow, seemed poorly thought out, and the majority of the characters were utterly disposable.

Welcome to Night City 2 out of 5 stars.

I have played Cyberpunk RPG since 91'. This is the first book I have read from the series and it sucks. It captured the attitude of your average gangers pretty well and I can't complain about the description of the enviroment. The only problem is that it still sucked.

Editorial Review:

What used to be Manhattan is now Night City, a cyberpunk urban hell. Here the Ravengers, a gang composed of rejects, roam the streets. Paid by a group called the Digital Librarians, they retrieve artefacts from the burnt-out museums and begin to comprehend the lack of beauty in their own world.

Good cyberpunk.... 5 out of 5 stars.

I gave this a five placed in the context that for the type of book this is it is a very good read. No, this is not a classic like Melissa Scott's Trouble and her Friends, nor is it as good as Gibson's Neuromancer, but it is a very good light cyberpunk read.

I would say the reading level of this book is teen. Which isn't to say that adults cannot enjoy it, as I found the book fascinating and the action flew by very quickly. This is more of a summer book, a book to pleasantly pass a few hours.

Enjoy. I know I did...

Not bad 3 out of 5 stars.

If you are into the Cyberpunk theme than this book is not a bad read. Not as good as the classic Gibson books "Neuromancer","Count Zero" but still a good read

Explains game well, rather stiff. 4 out of 5 stars.

If you need to see a story set in the Cyberpunk 2.0.2.0 setting then this book seems to fit the bill rather well. While the politics in this book is dated we need freedom of expression and maybe the author is a left explotiationalist. I can see the teens now getting involved in left wing politics only to find the TV is their legislature much as I do as an adult. As far as computer fiction it fares well but remember it goes with a game. As the other reviewer I rate this book based on it's fitting into the context of the game cyberpunk 2.0.2.0 and not on literary standards. It is a cheap read yet at that it is a quick read too. BTW it is low on romance content and a little too full of violence content.

Editorial Review:

Overcoming his burnout existence by developing a super identity in the virtual reality world, computer junkie Josh enlists the help of a band of cyber renegades in order to stop Kilo-Mega, an electronic Hitler who wants to rule the Net.

One man can't do it alone, and there still is magic. 4 out of 5 stars.

One man can decide that he wants to change the world. He finds it hard to do it alone, but soon there are others to join his cause and with the combined might of the group they are able to acompish things to change the world.
This is a good read. I really enjoy his writing style. Give this one or American Book of the Dead a try.
