Fun for the kids and the parents! 5 out of 5 stars.

You can't help but love reading this book aloud to your little one! The rhymes, illustrations, and humor can't be beat. And there's something irresistible about "Fix it Duck!" My two year old always reaches for this book and when we get to a job for "Fix it Duck", he pumps his fist emphatically while singing "Fix it Duck!". I highly recommend this book, as well as Duck's other board book - Duck in a Truck.

Great book for parents and children! 5 out of 5 stars.

This book is hysterical, my husband absolutely loves reading this book to our 3 year old daughter. Fix it Duck is passionate and believes there is a leak in his roof and goes to sheep for help. Hilarity ensues as Fix It Duck just ruins everything as he goes along but believes he is helping. The fun is at the end of the book when you realize that the leak started because Duck left the faucet on and he causes havoc as a result. We got a kick out of going through the book again afterwards and watching the frog try to track Duck down. Recommended very highly for the preschool set.

Editorial Review:

A leaking roof?
A window stuck?
These are jobs for FIX-IT DUCK!
He s got his tools,
he s keen he s strong,
what can possibly go wrong?
Duck is up to his old tricks,
now who will end up in a fix?

A few words, and a search 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This book is about a mother duck that cannot find one of her ducklings. She goes around asking the other denizens of the pond if they have seen it. The fun thing is that, if you look, you will find where the duckling is.

There are few words in this book, so be aware of the reading level (baby-preschool). However, the artwork is very well done, and the fun of having the little reader find the missing duckling on each page makes the whole thing worthwhile.

Great for kids that love animals 5 out of 5 stars.

My boys LOVE animals, especially ducks, so this is a big hit. If you like "Silly Little Goose" by the same author, this one's sure to be popular in your house.

A GREAT "CRITTER" SEARCH BOOK FOR THE WEE ONES. 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

What a delightful work for the very young. A Mom Duck is searching for her one "lost" duckling and searches the pond, asking the other creatures "have you seen my duckling?" Of course the duckling is not actually lost, and if you and your child look close, the duckling can be found here and there, hidden (as little ducks should be) in various locations. The kids get quite a kick out of this one as it is interactive an they must search for the little "lost" duck. The art work in this one is great and quite appearling. The simple text is repetitive and fun for the child. This is simply a fun read for the small child and a fun read for the adult reader as they help the child find the duckling. Highly recommend.

a very "real" story 5 out of 5 stars.
6 of 6 people found this review helpful.

My 5-year-old daughter and I read this with a great deal of delight. The story is exciting, and what makes it very special is its authenticity. Daisy isn't a human-like character, she does only real hen things; Mei Mei isn't a super-clever, cutesy ethnic character, she's a young Chinese girl who loves her hens. Together, they overcome the scary, vulnerable situations they find themselves in just by doing hen and little girl things. All of this with fascinating, rich illustrations of the Li River region of southern China that are also very true to life. A tale for the heart and a treat for the eyes.

Editorial Review:

Mei Mei has the six happiest hens in China. She gives them treats and fresh hay baths, and when she calls to them-gu gu gu gu gu!-they all run to her as fast as they can. But one of the hens, Daisy, is not always so happy. The other hens pick on Daisy and push her off the perch every night, knowing that she is too small to stand up to them. Then one day Daisy accidentally drifts out onto the river in a basket and must quickly learn how to survive. When Daisy finds her way home, this plucky little hen is no longer afraid.
Jan Brett and her husband, Joe, traveled with their daughter-in-law, Yun, and her husband, Sean, to China, the land where Yun was born. During this trip, Jan found the inspiration for Daisy's story.

Super Fun! 5 out of 5 stars.

I am a storytime leader for preschoolers, and this book is the favorite so far this year. After listening to it, several of the children had to get copies of their own. I highly recommend it!

Very cute - be sure to ham it up! 4 out of 5 stars.

There's not that much to this story. It's very short (and so very appropriate for little-little ones or squeezed-in storytimes!), detailing the misadventures of a farm family all week, and their rescues by the chickens.

The illustrations are hysterical, with the chickens frantically holding up yield signs to stop duck from stealing the truck, with them putting out a trampoline to save cow, with them scolding the dog for eating Jeffrey's homework.

Eventually, they sleep right through a rescue - but they've earned it.

It's very funny, especially if you're sure to yell every time you get to the tagline - CHICKENS! TO! THE RESCUUUUUUUUUUUE!

Editorial Review:

Meet the most heroic chickens in town! On Monday, Farmer Greenstalk dropped his watch down the well. . . .
On Tuesday, Mrs. Greenstalk was too tired to make dinner. . . .
Who will help the poor Greenstalk family? Chickens to the rescue! The amazing chickens on the Greenstalk farm race to help various family members and farm animals every day of the week. Every day until Sunday, that is, when Emily Greenstalk has a little trouble . . .  John Himmelman’s expressive illustrations are filled with the kind of hilarious details that will delight young readers.

Silly & Fun! 4 out of 5 stars.
8 of 8 people found this review helpful.

If you're looking for a serious book about Thanksgiving, then 10 Fat Turkeys is not the book for you. This book is about ten fat turkeys walking along a fence, when one by one they fall, break the fence, and perch on a tree instead. It's funny, and intended to appeal to the very young, or young at heart. The illustrations are bright, and bold, and will appeal to young children say 1 to 5-years. My son laughs when I read this book, and now at five he's starting to read it to himself.

10 Fat Turkey's mimics the pattern in Melanie Gerth's, Ten Little Ladybugs, although Gerth's book is sweet, this work is just plain silly.

10 fat turkeys fooling on a fence.
"Looky!" says a silly turkey, swinging from a vine.
GOBBLE GOBBLE WIBBLE WOBBLE whoops! Now there are...9.

It's a lesson in simple subtraction, and one we enjoy reading after Halloween. It's not a Thanksgiving book per se, there is no mention of the holiday, or even the season. It just a fun, nonsense book for little tykes.

Editorial Review:

"Looky!" says a silly turkey swinging from a vine. Gobble gobble wibble wobble.Whoops! Now there are nine.Girls and boys will gobble up this hilarious story about ten goofy turkeys and their silly antics: swinging from a vine, strutting on a boar, doing a noodle dance, and more. Veteran author Tony Johnston has written a joyful text, which first-time illustrator Richard Deas brings to life as wild and wacky fun!

wrong country 1 out of 5 stars.
2 of 3 people found this review helpful.

Lovely book. A major problem is that the author is confused about the pysanka and the country she is writing about. The pysanka is a UKRAINIAN Easter egg. Russians do not have pysanky (pl.). Surely by now people should know the difference between Ukraine and Russia (you wouldn't confuse Ireland and England). The pysanka is a most special Ukrainian ritual object. The author should have done her homework.

an egg story 5 out of 5 stars.

Hey. do you like eggs for breakfast? Do you know what you can do with them instead of throwing them away? Well, then you NEED to read this book. It isabout a woman named Babushka. Each day Babushka would take an egg from her basket and paint it. Will Babushka win the egg contest? Will the bird she rescued stop her from winning the contest? Find out by reading this book.

Ho! Ho! Ho! Here comes Santa Duck! 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Ho! Ho! Ho! It's Christmas time and Nicholas Duck is worried! Christmas is just one day away, but Nicholas forgot to tell Santa what gifts he wants. If Santa doesn't get Nicholas' list, then this adorable duck might just find socks and underwear under his tree this year. Thus starts the charming adventure of Santa Duck.

When Nicholas Duck leaves his house to search for Santa, he finds a wrapped box on his doorstep. The happy duck is thrilled when he opens his gift and finds a Santa suit. Quickly putting the outfit on, Nicholas continues on his journey. Soon, however, Nicholas is accosted by all sorts of animals who think that he is the real Santa Claus. One after the other they tell Nicholas what they want for Christmas. In despair, Nicholas finally runs as fast as he can away from all the other animals. In his rush to escape, the flustered duck runs smack into Santa Claus. Nicholas quickly tells Santa what all the other animals want and then he heads home to wait for Christmas. But as he walks home, the poor duck realizes he'd forgotten to give Santa his own wish list. Arriving at home, Nicholas finds a note from Santa thanking the duck for his help. It is then that Nicholas realizes that helping Santa "was the best gift he could ever get."

This is a very sweet story that will have kids reading and re-reading it every day until December 25th. The pictures are simplistic in a way that kids will love, bright, cheery, and Nicholas' beak is stuck in a permanent smile - sure to bring a smile to every child's face.

Quill says: A fun book that teaches children that giving is more fun than receiving.

Editorial Review:

Nicholas Duck loves Christmas as much as the next animal, and he is happy to try on the new Santa hat that’s mysteriously delivered to his house. But when his friends see him and immediately launch into their Christmas lists, he doesn’t know what to do . . . until he runs into Santa himself.

David Milgrim’s bright, bold art is instantly appealing and readers will embrace a brand-new Christmas story with a truly original twist.

"You can do it! I know you can!" 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

With characters named Widdle, Waddle, Piddle Puddle and Little Quack you know that your pre-schooler is bound to love this book. It's a cute little story about the ducks leaving the nest for their first big swim, and how Quack builds up the courage to leave the nest with lots of love and encouragement.

There are wonderful lessons here for little readers, but the best and most amazing part of this book are the fabulous expressions on the faces of all these little ducks! I didn't think it was possible to make ducks look all that different and show real emotion, but it's all here in this wonderful, entertaining book that will win raves from the kids and parents.

Editorial Review:

Little Quack is a duck out of water. As his brothers and sisters splish, splash, and splosh their way into the pond behind their mama, he is left all alone on the shore. Little Quack wants to join his family. Can he find the courage to be a very small duck in a very big pond?

Count along and find out! The QUACK-U-LATOR keeps score, adding a splash of math to all the fun!

Sorry, I couldn't get into it... 2 out of 5 stars.
2 of 7 people found this review helpful.

Max the duck stays behind when his flock migrates away, and winds up living in a big house full of other animals. There, he learns how to watch TV and cook gourmet meals. This book might be okay for very young readers, but we couldn't get into it. One big problem was with the major emphasis on television as the central event in the house Max the duck lives in: no one does anything in this book except eat and watch tv. They don't read, they don't play games, they don't draw pictures, they don't go outside -- they just fight over what to watch and get angry with Max because he hogs the remote and cooks fancy food.

No wonder Max finally decided to fly South after all. (ReadThatAgain!)

Editorial Review:

One winter night, a cozy house full of animals is awakened by a knock at the front door. They have no idea what they'll find on the other side, and Max the duck is the last thing they expect. Soon this larger-than-life houseguest is making himself at home—and forcing his way into the hearts of his reluctant hosts.
