People... feelings.... can't be tied up 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

Poor Kyo Sohma. Not only is he an outcast, doomed to life in a prison, and pitied by his family... but he's also got a tragic secret connecting him to the girl he loves.

And he and Tohru have even rougher problems in the twenty-first volume of "Fruits Basket," where Natsuki Takaya starts wrapping up some of the more personal storylines all at once. There's a little romance, a little comedy, and lots of sorrow and self-discovery in this manga, especially for the much-abused Kyo and his half-suppressed feelings for Tohru.

Kyo blurts out his tragic connection to Tohru's late mother, expecting Tohru to utterly reject him. Instead, Tohru reveals her own feelings for him. But after he leaves, she's confronted by an enraged Akito, who accuses her, "You've made ME the outsider, and everyone loves you." But as Tohru suddenly realizes what Akito's problem is, she makes the desperate Sohma an offer...

... just in time for the ground to literally crumble under her feet. Her accident throws the already-fragile Akito into a tailspin, and causes the entire Sohma zodiac to be thrown into turmoil. Already blaming himself, Kyo has a nasty confrontation with Yuki in which the two boys reveal what they really think about one another. Well, we knew from early in the series, but it's nice that they're telling each other.

If the manga "Fruits Basket" can be said to have a climax, then the twenty-first volume might actually be it. A whole bunch of storylines -- Akito's nutty loneliness, Kyo's hidden guilt, Tohru and Kyo's love for each other, and Kyo and Yuki's mutual envy -- are all addressed in these chapters, although it's clear that some of these plots aren't yet over.

And Takaya takes the chance to show how much Tohru has come to mean to all of the zodiac members, as well as how much stronger they have grown because of her. Even Akito begins to realize that she doesn't have to be alone even without the curse.

But after a few volumes of angst and sorrow, Takaya also weaves in some lighter stuff, including some truly exquisite romantic moments (including a cute little kiss). And Yuki unexpectedly provides some comic relief ("Are you trying to lighten the mood, brag, or just start in on sexual harrassment?" "Can't it be all three?"), particularly with Kakeru ("You wanna cry in my manly bosom?" "I'm going to punch you into the sun").

Tohru is the center of this volume, although she spends little time actually onscreen -- her goodness and love are what the rest of the plot runs on. Kyo begins painfully creeping out of his shell as Tohru's feelings become clear, and Akito is shown as a desperate, lonely creature who desperately wants just one friend. Yes, even after she starts swinging that knife around, you feel sorry for her.

The twenty-first volume of "Fruits Basket" has the bittersweet feeling of a story that is approaching its end, with plenty of tragedy, romance and comedy along the way.

Editorial Review:

Kyo finishes telling Tohru about his role in her mother's death and how the reason he disappeared for so long was that he felt so guilty about it. He explains that he overcame his guilt by blaming everything on Yuki, but he realizes he was only running away from his own feelings. But how will he react when Tohru says that she still loves him?

Wow, I'm surprised this is still in print! 5 out of 5 stars.

I got this book what must have been ten years ago now (Dang, I was six! Time flies) and I absolutely adored it!

The illustrations, from what I can remember, were very good and in some cases very funny. In the humorous sort of way.

Each page was challenging for me, but not so hard that I'd throw a fit.

I think my old copy is somewhere in my attic, I've been meaning to pull it out for my younger brother, but now I don't have to. =)

Note, though, that this book was made before any newer Pokemon were created, before the release of the Gold/Silver versions of the Pokemon games. Only the original 151 Pokemon are in this one, some of which I don't think are even in the newer games.

My 10 year old son loves this book 5 out of 5 stars.

I purchased this book as a present for my son's 10th birthday. He loves it. We took it on a family trip and found the Pokemon together. It really made the trip go faster. He was especially happy because this book had some additional pages than his friend's edition of the book.

Interesting 4 out of 5 stars.
6 of 7 people found this review helpful.

This was a fairly good book, revealing much about Sasha's origins and Tigerstar's time in ShadowClan. Sasha is much more meek than how she is portrayed in the TNP series, and her feelings for Tigerstar and her reasonings for wanting to be with him are explained. The story is told from her vantage point, up to the end where we are left waiting for the next book. It is admittedly overshadowed by the great Eclipse, (properly named) which has brought back Warriors fans everywhere, but the art is good, and I am left anticipating the next book, which promises even more. The book is slightly overpriced for one of it's size, and the fact that it is not an actual novel, but I do recommend that you read this one.

Editorial Review:

Sasha has everything she wants: kind housefolk who take care of her during the day and the freedom to explore the woods beyond Twolegplace at night. But when Sasha is forced to leave her home, she must forge a solitary new life in the forest. Life on her own is exciting at first but quickly gets lonely. When Sasha meets Tigerstar, leader of ShadowClan, she wonders whether she would be better off joining the ranks of his forest Clan. But Tigerstar has many secrets, and Sasha must decide whether she can trust him.

Warriors: The Rise of Scourge 5 out of 5 stars.

Awesome - anything about Warriors is awesome. Really makes you see another side to Scourge

A Cats History reveals a possible secret 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Ok, this might be nothing, but in this Managa Scourge's mother Quince says that his father was a ginger cat. I am guessing that the cat in question is Red Tail. It can't be Rusty (aka Firestar) because the way the book reads, Rusty would have been either not born yet or younger than Scourge. Unless of course Red Tail is the father of both Rusty and Scourge. But again, this is just a theory.

Overall this was a carefully thought out story and it gives you an insight on how Tiny became Scourge.

The Rise of Scourge (Warriors) 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I really like this book. It is very descriptive. Now I understand how Scourge became Scourge.

Editorial Review:

When kittypet Tiny crosses paths with some wild forest cats defending their territory, he is left with scars—and a bitter, deep-seated grudge. As his reputation grows among the strays and loners that live in the dirty brick alleyways of Twolegplace, he changes his name to Scourge and puts everything about his old life behind him—except his deadly desire for revenge.

Warriors Return
By
Erin Hunter
This was an awesome book! The two cats Graystripe and Millie are back in Graystripes trilogy in the book Warriors Return!!!
I would first recommend reading the first two books in the trilogy first. I enjoyed the adventures, the characters and the humor! Graystripe and Millie are finally returning to Thunder Clan, and on the way meet some old friends from the other books, and some new friends too!
They experience many adventures. Graystripe and Millie have their humorous times and their challenges along the way. I really like the way the author brings these cats to life! It's almost like you are there sharing in the adventure and excitement! An example of the humor is when they surprise a cat who has just caught a mouse, and the other cat says, "OK! Take the mouse!", because he knew he was outnumbered!
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes cats!

Graystripe and Millie have finally found ThunderClan's old territory, but Twoleg monsters have devastated the forest and Graystripe fears that all of his Clanmates have been killed or captured by Twolegs. Millie insists that they keep looking, and an old friend helps point the two cats on the path that the Clans followed many moons ago.

But danger still lurks around every turn, and Graystripe worries that he and Millie are lost on an impossible journey.

Graystripe+Manga= .... 3 out of 5 stars.
3 of 4 people found this review helpful.

Everyone loves the Warriors series ( at least, they should ). When I saw the preview for this comic book, I wasn't really that excited. I wasn't in to manga, so who cares?
One of my friends lent me the book ( if he's reading this now, I thank him )one morning in school, and I finished it within half-an-hour.
Let me get down to the basics:
On the cover of this comic book, and I'm sure many other Warriors fans agree, there is a picture of Graystripe. What's with him? He looks evil almost, half of him hidden in the shadows, these sharp, cold eyes, and this pointy hairdo which looks like it popped off of a rock star and jumped on Grayytripe's head. I thought Graystripe to be kind looking and gentle- not this guy.
Secondly, Brightheart in the books got one whole half of her head ripped off. In this comic, her eye is just closed. WHAT????
Thirdly, who ever illistrated- James Barry, I think - made Millie have this really odd M on her head, like he was labeling her even though we already knew her.
Graystripe and Millie fell in love way too fast, too. why does he abandon Silverstream for this dumb she-cat? In the actual books, Millie is tough and smart, but in the comics she's afraid of everything and stupid.
The plot is okay, but not great. It all happens to fast.
And Feathertail looks very queer in this comic- she has a sort of flip of hair on her head. Very weird. Not to mention the thick eyelashes on every she-cat.
Anyways, it's good to borrow the book from a good friend, then give it back after half an hour.
I hope this helped,
Moonwhsiker

The forest is calling him, and he never stops longing to go home. When he makes friends with a feisty kittypet named Millie, she encourages him to go in search of his lost friends. But will Graystripe ever find his way back to the Clan?

Well Done 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I remember being introduced to the Japanese edition of this manga at the early part of this decade, and at that time fans all over the world wondered if it would be released elsewhere. Nearly ten years later, that speculation finally proved to be true.

"The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Volume 1" is a charming take on the story that took place within the award-winning videogame by Nintendo. It covers the first half of the story, ending shortly after the completion of the Fire Temple; the rest, obviously, will be covered in the next volume. There are some liberties taken with the story -- it's not exactly a straight-on translation of the game -- but I feel the additions are refreshing, and enhance the storyline already established by the game, making it a worthwhile read that stands on its own, even for those who are already intimate with the game's storyline.

Those who like heavy action and lots of blood will probably be a little disappointed, but that isn't to say there isn't any at all in the book. There's enough to make things interesting, without making it unsuitable for children -- I wouldn't be shy about letting my kids read it. There are a few pages where cropping issues make it difficult to read some of the speech bubbles, but those pages are few, and don't detract very much from one's overall enjoyment of the book.

It is, of course, a book that is supposed to be read from right to left (or back to front), to preserve the original orientation of the art, which can be confusing at first. But one gets used to it fairly quickly. The art, by the way, is beautiful and expressive; the two misses who make up Akira Himekawa are definitely skilled in their craft. And, while I'm relying on third-party translations of the Japanese edition to make the comparison (since I can't read Japanese, myself), the translation of dialogue seems pretty faithful to the original dialogue of the Japanese manga.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of the game, or the Zelda franchise in general, who isn't a slave to pure, 100% translation of the elements of the game. Children and young adults who like a good sword-and-armor tale, with moderate fantasy elements, might like this manga, too. The printing does have its flaws, but everything else, I feel, more than outweighs them.

My boys love this!!! 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

My boys love "mangas" and we are also big cat fans, so when we found these....it was love at first sight! We have just started the "Warriors" first series of books and they are really enjoying them. Although they are excellent readers, I think they love the mangas because they are less intimidating than all the chapters they see in most books. We are a home school, so the mangas are for fun, the book series are for assighned reading.

Warriors: The Lost Warrior 3 out of 5 stars.

My granddaughter absolutly loves these books. She has the first two and I just received the third which I'm sure she will enjoy just as much. Then I
have the fourth one on preorder. I really like the larger series of Warriors. I highly recommend these manga books for kids to read to help get started on the larger series. Thanks for your service also. Very pleased with it.

Editorial Review:

Graystripe and Millie's journey to find ThunderClan has only just begun when the pair is faced with a series of obstacles that seem insurmountable. Getting out of Twolegplace alive isn't nearly as simple as expected, and Millie's unfamiliarity with life in the wild makes it a challenge for Graystripe to keep them both moving forward. But just when a temporary refuge is in sight, conflict with a tribe of barn cats threatens to break the travelers apart for good!

Pokemon 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Although it's a manga series targeted for kids around 9 to 12, I actually enjoyed the panels and dialogue. Not to mention all the amazingly funny scenes there were. (Hareta biting the grunt's butt) This first volume definitely had me wanting more from this author. I can't wait for the third volume to come out!

Pokemon Adventure is at it again! 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

For those of you who don't know, Pokemon Adventure follows a less childish plot. Still childish, but THE ATTACKING MAKES SENSE!

In the novels, characters will use their surroundings, and rapid switching of pokemon, along with attacks in cunning ways not presented by the show. Moves are often used in new ways. For example, in this manga, Mars, a leader of the evil forces, uses scratch from a pokemon to turn off the power, and then uses Zubat's supersonic so he's the only one who can see.

Comedy is also better. There's a piplup joke that's pretty much the team rocket "Blasting off" joke, only funnier. The rival also falls in love with any girl he meets, much like brock from the anime, if brock fell in love with enemy girls and Misty/May.

Overall, it's WAAAAAY better than the Anime. Things actually make sense. So if you're a pokemon fan that's too cool for the child's anime, this is good. There's nothing bad, really, so it'll amuse the little fans too.

Editorial Review:

Set in the country Sinnoh, the story follows the adventures of Hareta, a young boy raised in the wild with Pokemon. Recruited by Prof.Rowan, he decides to become a Pokemon trainer after catching his first tame one, Piplup. He and the Professor's assistant, Mitsumi, set off on a quest to find Dialga, one of the three "Legendary" Pokemon, which is rumored to be able to control time. But Team Galactic, lead by villainous Cyrus, is hunting for Dialga too.
