the best yet 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I feel that vol 15 is really the best that has come out of Arakawa yet. We know everybody so well by now that the story really packs a major punch. And I'm excited for the next one (hurry up with it!).

Genius 5 out of 5 stars.

Volume 15 goes into a lot of detail about what happend in Ishbal which is a much better story then the one in the anime.

The Hero of Ishbal 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I've been reading this manga since volume one and it continues to not disappoint in both art and story. Volume 15 is for the most part a flashback to the civil war in Ishbal, which was the turning point in the lives of many of the main characters. A great volume overall, with a large Omake section as well.

Flashback. 4 out of 5 stars.

Hiromu Arakawa, Fullmetal Alchemist vol. 15 (ViZ, 2006)

An entire volume told in flashback, as we see a number of the cast members during the War of Ishbal. It seems that some of the characters we'd previously thought of as good have dark sides to them, and vice versa. A lot of character development, a decent amount of action, and a lot of fun. Series continues to be strong. ****

Editorial Review:

The horrors of the Ishbalan extermination campaign had serious repercussions, which set the tone for the complicated dealings of present-day state politics. Lieutenant Hawkeye reluctantly tells Ed all the dreaded details of the role Colonel Mustang and the other state alchemists played in this tragic event.

Editorial Review:

The real Ieyasu is revealed to be Hanzo Hattori, the leader of the Iga ninja, who promptly kills his imposter for being useless. Ieyasu (Hanzo) has his ninja attack Kyo as the palace crumbles in flames. Kyo emerges victorious, but Ieyasu also emerges unscathed. Ieyasu tells Yukimura he may kill the Sanada clan out of whim someday, unless Yukimura becomes a Tokugawa servant like his brother. Ieyasu lets Kyo and Yukimura's groups live however as he leaves, an action Yukimura swears he will someday regret. Ieyasu gone without being killed, Yukimura offers Kyo another opportunity to learn the location of his body...defeating Yukimura. Kyo and Yukimura fight, ending with Yukimura acknowledging he is one step behind Kyo. A defeated Yukimura reveals Kyo's body is hidden in an icy cave deep within the Aokigahara Sea of Trees (Jukai) at the base of Mt. Fuji. Kyo prepares to head there, determined to get his body back, defeat Kyoshiro, and regain his name as the strongest. Before they begin the journey to the Sea of Trees, Yukimura tells Kyo that he is exactly the man 'Sakuya-san' said he was and also that Sakuya is pained over the thought that Kyo and Kyoshiro may fight again. The relationship between Sakuya, Kyo, and Kyoshiro is still a mystery to the reader. Meanwhile, Mahiro on order of Ieyasu confronts Benitora alone, who is revealed to be Hidetada Tokugawa, Ieyasu's son. Benitora refuses to become a slave to his father, however, and says he'll continue traveling with his love, Yuya, and Kyo. The next day, Yukimura parts paths with the group, telling Kyo not to die before he kills Kyo. Not long afterwards, Okuni finds Kyo, knowing he would be in Edo looking for Sakuya. Okuni brings the information that 'That Man' and the 12 God Generals that serve him are also after Kyo's body. The first three Generals are shown meeting up, the young girl Antera, the huge bald-headed Bikara, and the long black-haired Shindara, who seems superior to the others. Okuni in the meantime discusses things with Kyo. Yuya's resemblance to Sakuya and the fact that a former member of the Four Sacred Heavens (Shiseiten) with Kyo, the 'Twin Headed Dragon' Akira is now a 12 God General under the codename Ajira. In the meanwhile, Yuya meets a blind man who claims to be a friend of Kyo's. Benitora shows up before Kyo, and sensing the blind man's killing intent tells Yuya to run away. As Kyo shows up, it is revealed the blind man is Akira, who asks why Kyo back-stabbed the Four Sacred Heavens four years earlier. Just after Akira asks the question, however, Benitora picks a fight with Akira, but is hopelessly outclassed. Benitora manages a cut on Akira, but their fight is interrupted as Shindara, Antera, and Bikara arrive. The 12 God Generals leave, telling Kyo to come to the Sea of Trees, where Akira says he'll ask Kyo again. Before going, however, Akira tells Yuya he and Kyo know who the man that killed her brother is. As the group reaches the Sea of Trees, Yuya refuses to be left behind at the entrance by Kyo. Going in to the deadly forest on her own, she is attacked by some of the forest's inhabitants, but is rescued by Kyo. Much to Yuya's surprise however, visible through a hole in the back of Kyo's shirt is a Red Cross on Kyo's back...the same as on her brother's killer. The cross disappears as Kyo finishes fighting, but Yuya points her gun at Kyo, asking whether Kyo or Kyoshiro killed her brother and saying she'll kill him if it's one of them.

Poorly translated 2 out of 5 stars.
19 of 21 people found this review helpful.

This is probably one of the worst translating errors I've seen in a while. Whether is was an accident or intentional, I'm not sure.

Two of the reoccuring characters are switched to the other gender. Sugino, the white tengu, is very male, however ADV made Sugino female. Muu is generally considered to be female, most of the characters refer to her as such, but ADV made Muu male.

I'm incredibly disappointed and will more than likely buy the original rather than giving ADV my money for a piece of work that doesn't deserve it. I'm very fond of this series and these characters, and am greatly appalled at this massacre of it.

BEST MANGA I'VE EVER READ 5 out of 5 stars.
7 of 8 people found this review helpful.

Eyeshield 21 isn't the best sports manga out there--it's the best manga that I've ever, ever, read in my three or four year career as a manga fan. Everything about Eyeshield is so darned perfect--the characters, the art, the story...I can't believe it. I can't see it deserving anything less than 5 stars. I can't imagine how ANYONE can hate Eyeshield 21, for Eyeshield 21 has got something for everyone.

Story: The story for Eyeshield 21 is a little stereotypical; it's basically the same sports manga formula of underdog-team-strives-to-be-the-best--but it's carried out in a serviceable way that doesn't get too annoying. However, Eyeshield has got one thing going for it--it's about FOOTBALL. Not the black-and-white ball, but AMERICAN FOOTBALL. I'm surprised it's even so popular in Japan where American football isn't that popular. A neat thing about Eyeshield 21 is that you don't have to know squat about football to enjoy it.

Characters: This is where Eyeshield 21 REALLY shines--the characters. Seriously, Riichiro Inagaki is a genius. All of the characters have distinct personalities while not being too stereotypical and cliched--Sena's the shy kid who can run really fast because he's spent most of his life running from bullies, Hiruma's the demonic quarterback for the Devil Bats, Kurita's the nice fat guy with a chestnut-shaped head, Monta is like a monkey, etc. etc. Even the "bad guys" are well-thought-out, funny, and original. Honestly, even if you hate football, just read Eyeshield 21 for the characters. What can I say? They're awesome.

Art: Ah, more genius. Yusuke Murata is a genius artist and brings Inagaki's writing to life. I really love how Murata depicts things using visual metaphors--such as Sena visualizing the path he's going to take. The character designs, too, are all unique and distinct and you'd never mistake one character for the other. Eyeshield 21's art is detailed; perhaps a little too detailed, but it's still excellent.

Overall: Like I said before, Eyeshield 21 has something for everyone. Don't like football? Read for the characters. Don't like manga? Read for the football. It's not sugary-sweet and "BELIEVE IN YOURSELF" like so many other sports manga nor is it chock full of bishounen *coughPrinceofTenniscough*, but Eyeshield 21 is still the de facto best sports manga, perhaps even best manga, I have ever read.

Editorial Review:

What does a wimpy kid who's been bullied all his life got to depend on but his own two feet? Sena Kobayakawa is about to start his first year in high school and he's vowed not to get picked on anymore. Unfortunately, the sadistic captain of the football team already has his eye on Sena and his lightning-fast speed. With a wacky cast of characters that includes team captain Hiruma, who has an uncanny resemblance to a demon, and a good-natured front linesman who inexplicably has a head shaped like a chestnut, enjoy all the bone-crushing action and slapstick comedy that manga has to offer. And who knows, maybe you'll get a bit of a heart-warming coming of age story thrown in to boot!

I Love this series! 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I absolutly love this series. While at first it may seen strange you just can't help falling in love with the characters (<3 kyo) and their whole story. Before you know it you end up rooting along with the characters on their journies. While they are aimed at a teenage audience my mom aunt and 12 year old brother even enjoy them! This series was the first Manga I had ever read and its what actually got me started on reading manga and enjoying it. I Absolutly cannot wait until the 14th book comes out...
I highly recommend this series to everyone of all ages.

Absolutely Wonderful! 5 out of 5 stars.

This volume was definately one of the best so far. It was so good, it surprised me! No part of this volume is boring. I loved the parts with Kureno (he's one of my favorite characters), and the class trip was the best! This volume raises LOTS of questions, those of which you'll have to find out for yourself. But trust me, this volume is so worthy of the $10 you'll have to spend, that I'll read it again after just reading it yesterday! Take my advice, you will love this volume. Fruits Basket really does put all else to shame!

But along the way she will discover a tragic secret about Momiji's sister Momo...

One of My Favorite Shoujos 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

Marmalade Boy is one of my most favorite shoujos of all time! Miki Koishikawa WAS a normal high school girl until her life got turned upside-down. One day, while Miki was drinking tea (with the special tea set!), they (her parents) announced to Miki that they were going to divorce. What's weird is that her parents still love each other, just not in a romantic way. What's even more weird was that they had met another couple that felt the same way, on a trip to Hawaii (Miki was not on the trip). The two couples decide to divorce their current spouse, then remarry the other couple's spouse.

So, the Koishikawas and the Matsuuras (the other couple) divorce and of course, remarry, as I had mentioned. Now, the Koishikawas had a daughter, Miki (our heroine here), and the Matsuuras had a son, Yuu, who was the same age as Miki. At first glance, Miki had thought Yuu would be a great step-brother, until she realized that he enjoyed playing quick 'pranks' on her. Soon afterward, Yuu transfers into Miki's school.

*SOME CHARACTERS YOU WILL ENCOUNTER IN THE FIRST VOLUME*
Meiko Akizuki...she is Miki's best friend
Ginta Soui...he is in the tennis club with Miki; he and Miki have some sort of relationship (maybe)...
Na-chan...Mr. Namura; teacher at Miki's school

What I think of this manga series...Yoshizumi-sensei has done a great job with this manga. The story has an interesting plot, and difficult to understand romances (not really, I just wanted to say that^_^). This series is 8 volumes long. If you enjoy shoujo manga as much as I do, I suggest that you get yourself a copy and start reading!

*OTHER POPULAR WORKS OF YOSHIZUMI-SENSEI*
-Handsome Girlfriend...not yet released in the U.S. (sorry)
-Mint na Bokura...?
-Random Walk...not yet released in the U.S. (sorry)
-Ultra Maniac...published by VIZ
I know of 2 other titles, but they aren't released.

Thank you for reading this review!! ^_^

*by the way, I refer to myself as 'Manga-Addict'*

Editorial Review:

Talk about dysfunctional! Miki is horrified to learn that her parents have swapped with another couple, and that all four now plan to live under one roof. But when her new stepbrother, Yuu, shows up, he appears to be just the one to ease her mental anguish... that is, until she sees the bitterness beneath his cool exterior. The strange romance that follows would make any love triangle seem ordinary by comparison.

satisfied 3 out of 5 stars.

The book is good 5 out of 5 stars.

The book came in good condition and came earlier then expected. The comic is good and I recommend this to any one who likes the video game seris.

Good, but not great 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I've just finished all four volumes of the first Kingdom Hearts. It's very good, but not great. It doesn't live up to the video games, and many scenes do feel rushed and choppy. Plus, Sora's appearance does look a bit childish compared to all the other characters (but then, of course, this happens in almost every adaptation of famous video games). And finally, I was very disappointed that they Chernobog (from the original "Fantasia") didn't appear. It would've been an interesting battle for Sora.

But on the bright side, this is good for those who do not have a Playstation 2 (like me) and desperately want to see what Kingdom Hearts is all about. And many scenes are indeed very touching, such as . . . well, I don't want to spoil it for you. I recommend this for anyone who embraces the mixture of Squaresoft and Disney.

Editorial Review:

Sora, Donald and Goofy are forced to choose between duty and friendship. Our heroes must follow their heart if they are to succeed and defeat the growing Heartless menace. But in the world of Kingdom Hearts, choices are never easy!

Comparatively weaker art but good story 4 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

The good: Story is interesting fast paced and makes you wonder what will happen next You can't put it down.

The bad:The artist has probably excelled at drawing female portraits and posing females. The male characters look like children's drawing e.g. all character faces in this book look like females be it men or boys, which will take some time for you to get used to. Even the monsters look like females ... You will immediately see the quality of work between a male drawing and a female drawing in this series, one is professional the you other looks relatively amateurish. The other weak point is that the artist is strong in poses but in battle scenes most drawings look like rigid poses which seem awkward and don't convey the fast action. The artwork leaves you wanting.

Conclusion: Despite the flaws and anatomical errors in art the story is interesting and you easily overlook the other issues and accept it as series' trademark. I started with vol.1 last week and already bought vol.5 . I hope the artist will get better and give everyone a distinct face and improve the action scenes but even if he doesn't I'll finish this series anyway.

Update: Well I finished 10 and wrote a review but Amazon decided to censor it. So I'll add it here. After 10 volumes, all you have is endless battles and a minor progress in the story. It gets too repetitive and monotonous to look at pictures which only has sound effects.... and then you read 5-10 pages of actual story to conclude each book. I can read a book that has sword wielding claymores hitting some enemy with thud! crash! etc kind of effects for a while, but to actually create entire 10 volumes out of this material is not right.
Consequently my new vote is a 2 because of the artists exaggerated focus on drawing endless battles in each volume and his inexplicable refusal to put a little more emphasis on the story. The whole story up to volume 10 could be condensed into one book- the remaining 9 volumes is just fighting.

Editorial Review:

A Claymore - a female warrior named for the sword she carries - travels from medieval village to village to destroy Yoma, monsters who disguise themselves as humans and who are almost impossible to kill. Claymores are half-humans, half-demons who willingly transformed themselves by mixing their blood with monster's blood. Claire, nicknamed silver-eyed killer, is such a powerful Claymore, she can slay a Yoma using only one hand. But she must constantly struggle to keep from becoming a monster herself.
