Love Can Survive! 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I could hardly wait to read this last book of the series -- but I hated for the whole thing to end. But actually the book ending does allow you to keep their story going. I find myself looking around me for "love" in the couples in the Mall, and imagining Hiro and Miki near by to be sure love never is extinguished!

There are so many twists and turns in this book -- friends that turn out not to be -- paths that mislead. All of the previous three books are brought together -- even the "fortune teller" returns!

The scenery is so real, you feel the cold and snow.

Editorial Review:

Can love survive?

With the help of an unlikely ally, Miki and Hiro endure a daring journey, battling freezing conditions and frightening forces just to be together. Miki is certain they can make it, hoping that love really does conquer all.

good follow up. 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 3 people found this review helpful.

As I continue my reviews on this series I have come to Vol. 2. Nausicaa has left the Valley of the Wind to go to war with Princess Kushana of Tormekia, but on their way to the front their attack group is attacked by Asbel of Pejite. Asbel is shot down and Nausicaa goes to save him, only to be stuck under the Sea of Corruption. As the first book ends Nausicaa and Asbel are seen trying to fly out of the bottom of the Sea and get out.

This book, for those who've seen the movie, covers closely the events that take place in the second half of the movie. Here's the difference. One of the Doroke tribes, mentioned in the first book, has been driven from their lands by the Tormekia invasion and has been sent to conquer and settle the lands of the Periphery, where the Valley of the Wind lies. To do that they must first destroy Kushana's army by luring the insects out of the Sea to attack. Of course Nausicaa finds out about this and manages to not quite foil the plot, but she does save the baby Ohm larva. Much of the Tormekian army is destroyed but the Dorokes are forced to retreat. By the end of the story Kushana takes what is left of her army south to join up with the rest of her men already engaging in battle, and she takes Nausicaa with her to find the stone that controls the God Worrier.

halfway through this book it goes in a completely different direction than the movie, Nausicaa goes off to war, Asbel and Yupa foil a Doroke plan to conquer the Valley, and we are introduced to knew characters such as the Doroke Priest, who is known as the Holy One, and Ketcha, a Doroke girl who serves him. The part where the Ohm attack the Tormekian army is one of the highlights of the series, but the ending was a little odd and might feel rushed. Not the best in the series, but it is a good follow up to the first.

If you have seen the movie then there isn't anything new in the first half of this book for you. But don't just skip this book to save money, there are enough differences to make buying it worth wild.

Editorial Review:

Princess Nausicaä has left the Valley of the Wind to join Princess Kushana's forces. However, Nausicaä gets separated from the Torumekian fleet and finds herself face to face with the mysterious Ohmu, who open their hearts to her. But will Nausicaä be able to interpret their urgent warning about the southern forest? And what of the war which rages all around her?

A mystery...solved 5 out of 5 stars.
23 of 23 people found this review helpful.

This volume of Fruits Basket starts off with a wrap-up of one of it's earliest subplots, as outgoing YFC president Minagawa parts on good terms with Yuki as she lets go of her obsession with him in preparation for graduation, at the same time that Yuki learns a key part of Machi's past. After that, as a sign of the beginning of the end, the series starts to wrap up the fates of the main cast as almost all the rest of the volume is dedicated to completing the long, strange journey we've walked with Hatsuharu Sohma, as the Haru/Rin and Haru/Black storylines end in one shot.

The Sohmas finally get the best of happy news for a change with the arrival of Hiro's new baby sibling safe and sound - an event which affects Hiro deeply. His joy is muted, however, by his worry and fear over the disappearance of Rin. Finally unable to take the burden of his knowledge anymore and not knowing what else to do, he desperately spills everything he knows - including his eyewitness account of what Akito did to Rin - to Haru. After comforting the boy and leaving him with Kisa, Haru makes a beeline for Akito - with murder in his eyes...

Will Haru's better nature win out, or will he finally do something he'll regret for the rest of his life under Black's influence?

The answer is a very satisfying ending for Haru of which the majority of fans will approve. Also including some critical scenes with Kureno further confirming that he's a very good person who happens to be making one tremendous mistake, and ending with an aching reminder that time is running out for Kyo, this volume sets a high bar for the remaining five volumes which will follow.

Editorial Review:

As rumors swirl about Machi trying to kill her little brother, Kakeru figures that the only person who can get the truth out of her is Yuki. But when the two of them visit her, they learn a shocking secret. Later, Motoko wants to tell Yuki her feelings before she graduates and leaves the school--and him--forever. But will their parting be such sweet sorrow?

A quick wrap-up. 3 out of 5 stars.
3 of 5 people found this review helpful.

The first two novels really built...and this one was like the end of a Scooby Doo Mystery. The rip the monster's mask off, go "OMIGOSH!" everyone has a good laugh, all loose ends are tied up conveniently and you're left wondering "Why did I bother reading this trilogy?"
Art's amazing. But it feels like Richard A. Knaak was writing a sextet instead of a trilogy. Book # 3 should've continued building...and then books 4-6 are the dramatic conclusion.
If only.
I suppose if you're a WoW clone who never played WC1,2,3, or any expansions this book will be fine because it's probably new and exciting. But hey, WoW is awesome, right? So anything with the same logo = spend money!

Knaak, the New York Times best-selling author, bring you back to the world of Warcraft for the gripping conclusion to The Sunwell Trilogy!"A well-told, exciting story. Warcraft: Legend series has a decent start in manga. 3 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

This is a collection of several short stories taking place in Blizzard Entertainments (Now Activision Blizzards) warcraft series of games. Here is how I would rate each story, with a brief summary, and why I gave it that score:

Fallen: 4/5- This is actually a continuation of the story in the "Sunwell Trilogy" manga. It follows one of the past characters on his journey of spiritual and physical cleansing. A good story and very well drawn. It only loses points due to the fact that it dosen't really feel like "Warcraft", mostly due to the writer Richard Knaak. This is just my own opinion, he may be a good fantasy writer, but his warcraft story's feel like they take place in another realm to me.

The Journey: 3/5- A farmer joins a band of soldiers who plan to cleanse the town of Adorhal, the source of the plaque that decimated the kingdom of lordaeron years ago (Warcraft III). Again, a well drawn and well written story. My main gripe is the lack of non-human characters and that the males look to effeminate.

How to Win Friends: 1/5- A gnome moves to Kharanos and wishes to open a buisness of his own. This story is my least favorite story of any of the warcraft tales, starcraft included. The animation, characters, and story are far too childish for the target audience, namely warcraft players in the teen-young adult age group.

An Honest Trade: 4/5- A dwarf tells the tail of his past to a captive orc. The art is equal in quality to "The Journey" and the story is good, but predictable. A personal gripe (one that I have with many of the warcraft stories taking place post-Warcraft III) is that creatures of the Horde are shown as nothing more then heartless, cut-throught beasts. Some humans do make the "baddie" list and of coarse the main villian is rightfully on the list too, but throughout my experiences with the warcraft games the beings of the Alliance are just as capable of evil as those of the Horde. I have my own problem with the ending, I do not want to spoil it but I just felt that it ended what could have been a good story chain throughout the Lengeds collections.

Overall score: 3/5- If your a fan, it would be best for you to check it out BEFORE you buy. I am hopeful that future mangas of this new series will improve upon the first product in the line. One thing that is good about a series like Warcraft is that there is infinite room to weave new tales into its mythology.

sweet and captivating. 5 out of 5 stars.

Kisa Sohma is spending more and more time at Shigure's house to see Tohru, much to another's dismay. On a chance encounter Tohru meets Hiro Sohma, a conceited young boy who delights in ordering her about. His personality is well suited for his animal sign, the ram or sheep. Hiro Sohma begins to hang about the Sohma house as well and is constantly nagging Tohru about letting people walk all over her...by walking all over her. A bit of this young tyrant's past is revealed with a decisive moment between him and Akito that leaves Kisa hospitalized.

After a trip to the local pool Uo and Hana decide to buy Tohru a bathing suit to replace the middle school one she still wears. They recruit the Sohma boys to help them choose one. A bit of Uo's past is revealed surrounding Tohru's mother. Uo's past is gone into, her developing friendship with Tohru and her mother, Kiyoko, and her gang member days.

The Prince Yuki fan club rears it's ugly head again. This time President Motoko is concerned about Yuki's student council presidency...because she doesn't want any women serving on the council with him. The opportunity to speak to him presents itself a few times, and she exploits these chances to the utmost.

This is a down volume from the last amazing one, but it's still a great read. I'm beginning to appreciate Tohru's mother more and more as it goes on, and definitely began to see the glory that is Arisa in this one. I'll keep reading, they are all so good.

Another 5-star Rating! 5 out of 5 stars.
7 of 7 people found this review helpful.

Fruits Basket volume 11 is probably among the darkest volumes in the series. When you read this one, I can assure you that you will easily be moved to tears - and also part of what makes it dark is our finding out about the zodiacs' futures, particularly Kyo's.

It's obvious that this family holds lots of betrayal and backstabbing, and this volume makes that a big part of its aura. Parts of the book are rather surprising and catch you off-guard while you're reading it. I remember sitting on my bed while reading it, turning to the next page and going "WTF KYO KNEW KYOKO" because basically, this is the volume where we find out about that.

Akito finally confronts Tohru with her real attitude towards outsiders, and gives her a small wound in her anger (poor Tohru!). However, Momiji fans will love this volume, as we see his courageous and protective side towards loved ones.

And LAST but not least, the "love triangle" Between Tohru, Yuki and Kyo is certainly getting more complex. You'll know that in the previous volume, Yuki confessed to himself his love for Tohru. In this volume, the same happens with Kyo. I know who she ends up with in the end at this point (and also by reading spoilers! Haha), but I won't tell you for the sake of my poor head before getting hit by an iron skillet. VERY worthy of five stars, although my favorite volumes are still 1, 4, 6, and 13.

Editorial Review:

The world's most popular shojo manga continues! While at the Sohma vacation home, Tohru is caught in a whirlwind of familial strife. Can she relax and put the "fun" in dysfunctional? None of the Sohmas are going to make it easy, including an angry horse that attacks Tohru. Could this be a new member of the Zodiac? Meanwhile, in a fierce argument with Akito, Kyo reveals his true feelings for Tohru. Will Akito tell Tohru about Kyo's secret crush? And speaking of secrets, Akito makes a major announcement--one that will reveal his true identity and change the Sohma family forever!
