Editorial Review:

A memorable passage from The Art of the Dragonlance Saga explains the saga's birth in 1984: "The god who began to envision the possibility of this world in his mind was the God of Marketing. This god ascended from his mighty throne one day in early 1983 and announced that he had done a survey. And, according to the survey, people who played the DUNGEONS & DRAGONSĀ® game wanted more dragons."

And more dragons they got. The prolific and extraordinarily popular writing duo of Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman produced a veritable treasure trove of books telling of the heroic exploits and dastardly deeds of the denizens of their fantasy world. The Art of the Dragonlance Saga, long out of print, collects all the art from the novels, calendars, and game products that the God of Marketing created. This is an extremely rich collection, with sketches, paintings, drawings, and studies of beloved characters and settings. It is also full of artist's notes, character development, and explanations of the ways in which the books and the art coevolved. A must-have for Dragonlance fans, The Art of the Dragonlance Saga is also wonderful eye candy for all swords and sorcery fans. --Therese Littleton

AMAZING BOOK 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

This book is awesome. You should read the whole series. One thing bad about this is that this is the last book of the series.=(

Overall Great Series 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 4 people found this review helpful.

One small complaint however. With the end result being the "balance" of the gods and so forth, the end of the story didn't leave me with a feeling of balance or resolution. To have had a satisfying balance, I think for every main character fighting for "good" that died in battle, a main character fighting for "evil" should have also died. Particularly, a certain human woman who is the evil mastermind behind many of the troubles the companions endure. The death of an evil dragon highlord we barely get to know hardly compensates for the death of one of the faithful companions. Books are very sensual. Parents use caution.

Editorial Review:

The third Dragonlance novel in the trilogy that launched the entire Dragonlance novel line, Dragons of Spring Dawning, has been adapted to a format specifically targeted at young readers. The novel has been divided into two volumes, Hope's Flame and A Dawn of Dragons, that are sized and edited to fit the young reader market. The One and Only 5 out of 5 stars.
7 of 8 people found this review helpful.

Dragonlance Adventures (DLA), by Tracy Hickman and Margaret Weis, is "the AD&D game source book for continuing adventures in the world of Krynn." It was published in hardcover in 1987 (later followed by Darksword Adventures, Greyhawk Adventures, Forgotten Realms Adventures, and others) and has not been revised or reprinted since. While it does have its own errors (the timeline, in particular, is considered erroneous), many fans feel it captured the essence and flavor of Dragonlance. DLA is a great resource, so if you find a copy, snatch it up quickly.

Margaret Weis writes: "DL Adventures expressed the DL team's vision of the world, a vision we want to try to recreate with our work at Sovereign Press. I will state here, without apology, that DL Adventures will be taken as the foundation for all things Dragonlance with certain exceptions where applicable (such as the flawed time line)."

DLA provides an overview of the world of Krynn and its history, with a focus on how to run an AD&D campaign in Ansalon set after the War of the Lance. These are some of the main sections in DLA:

"Lot in Life" -- Classes specific to Dragonlance: Knights of Solamnia, Tinkers, Wizards of High Sorcery, and Holy Orders of the Stars (includes information on the 21 gods);

"The Races of Krynn" -- Information on the Krynn-specific PC races and subraces: Kender, Gnomes, Elves, Dwarves (and Gully Dwarves), Irda, and Minotaurs.

"Creatures of Krynn" -- Monsters unique to Dragonlance, including Draconians and Krynn Dragons.

"The World that Was" -- Information on Krynn Pre-Cataclius, including a Map of Ansalon, a timeline, NPCs, and ancient magical items: Dragonlance, Device of Time Journeying, Staff of Magius, Hammer of Kharas, Bloodstone of Fistandantilus, Orb of Dragonkind, etc.

"War of the Lance" -- Information on Krynn Alt-Cataclius, including a Map of Ansalon, a timeline, political conditions, climate, NPCs and PCs of the Legends Trilogy (post-War of the Lance).

Excellent! 5 out of 5 stars.

Why don't ppl write books like this anymore and actually end their series (take a hint Jordan)? Will Zohra end up with matthew? Will matthew make it home? Will Khardan free his brother from the dog faced general? A must READ!

More than 5 stars... I'd give it a 100 stars 5 out of 5 stars.

This is the best series of Margaret Weiss. The characters sizzles. I love PUKAH. This series has adventure ,romance, funny moments all wrapped into one. Done very very simultaneously. Unlike other fantasy books, Margaret Weiss style is light , touching, deep n most of all easy to understand n easy to realte to. It will carry you to another world.

The best of the trilogy 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This final book of the Rose of the Prophet trilogy really did it for me. All of the loose ends were wrapped up and the mysteries revealed. While some people seem to think that the ending wasn't satisfactory, I disagree. The book ends with a pretty clear picture of what the future holds for the characters and the resolution of the plot was complete. This was my favorite book of the trilogy because of the fast pace and intense action. While the first two books seemed a bit drawn out and slow due to the neccesities of character and plot development, this book was right to the point and brought the whole trilogy to an exciting climax.

In my opinion, this final volume makes the whole trilogy really worth reading. While not Weis and Hickman's best story that I've read, I still enjoyed it very much.

Editorial Review:

/Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman The Great War of the Gods comes to a close in the last volume of this series. The epic fantasy saga finds Khardin, Zohra, and the wizard Mathew faced with crossing a vast desert. If they survive, the nomads must combat the fiercest of warriors--.

Getting to Know the Dragons 4 out of 5 stars.
5 of 6 people found this review helpful.

Here's a collection of Dragon stories. Some very good, some just so-so. Interesting pieces include "The Final Touch", "The Best", "Kaz and the Dragon's Children", "Dragon Breath", "The Middle of Nowhere." "The First Dragonarmy Bridge..." introduces us to the pitiful draconian brigade whom one will meet in greater detail in "The Doom Brigade". Some of the stories end abruptly ("Into the Light" is one) while I find "Honor..." a bit tiresome to read. The rest of the stories are worth reading. All in all, this is a good book to get acquainted with the most popular and most awesome creatures in Krynn - dragons.

Editorial Review:

The Dragons of Krynn

In this one-of-a-kind collection, you'll find:

* An elite corps of bridge-building draconians.
* A solamni stalking a dangerous spectre.
* A minotaur captured by a dark wizard and put to a cruel and unusual test.
* Kender who pilfer magic, gully dwarves who cook a delicious rat sstew, and gnomes who invent whatchamacallits that wreak spectacular havoc.
* Plus, all manner and hue of dragons, good, evil, and just plain mischievous.

These exciting and other-worldy short stories are by authors of the Dragonlance saga, one of the world's best-selling fantasy series. Authors include Nancy Varian Berberick, Jeff Grubb, Richard A. Knaak, Roger E. Moore, Douglas Niles, Nick O'Donohoe, Michael and Teri Williams, and Margaret Weis.

Great...but 4 out of 5 stars.

I thought that this was a very good book, but it was missing something that I can't quite put my finger on. There were some very good stories in it, the development was great, but there was something...missing. But this should not discourage you from buying the book, it is still one of the best DL books that I own. And that's saying something

Good times 5 out of 5 stars.
12 of 15 people found this review helpful.

This book is a great blast from the past. It contains some DL history during the Time of Troubles. Updates important characters to D20. Has new spells, and items. Many artifacts from the War of the Lance. Some PRCs. Talks about the lack of divine magic during the time. Has great art. Talks about what's going on with the nations at the time. This is a favorite time for fans in the DL setting. If you like DL, you must get this book.

Must for War of the Lance Lovers. 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

Anything that you want to know about the War of the Lance is in this book. From the way the armies moved, the size of the dragonarmies, to who controlled what land during what portion of the war. So not only is this a great must for gamers, but is also a must for those who loved the Chronicles.

Dragonlance at its best! 5 out of 5 stars.

Most stories good, a couple disappointing 4 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

As I am not a huge fan of short stories, I was surprised to find most of these excellent. 'Colors of Belief' was an further insight as to how the Games of Istar worked after Caramon's experiences in the Legends. 'Kender Stew' was very funny and a nice little story. 'The Goblin's Wish' was my favourite, a saddening tale of how different races banded together to fight Istar. 'The Three Lives of Horgan Oxthrall' was not so good. The scribe's narration is just silly, I think Douglas Niles could've just told the story and got on with it. Far and away the worst story was 'Filling the Empty Places'. I find myself being more and more disappointed by Nancy Berberick's work. Stormblade was okay, but her writing style has definitely gone downhill since. 'Off Day' was hilarious. And finally, 'The Silken Threads' again showcased Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman's wonderful talent which puts them at the forefront of the DL world.
Those disappointed by the other Tales books will find this a better one, with more information into a neglected part of Krynn's history.

Editorial Review:

A recover of The New York Times best-selling Tales series. This collection of tales is edited by the creators of the Dragonlance mythology. The Reign of Istar contains a number of short stories by popular Dragonlance authors as well as a novella by Weis and Hickman.

Dragonlance short stories are as good as the novels 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 5 people found this review helpful.

This was the first Dragonlance book with short stories I ever read. I was not dissapointed. The reason I chose this book out of all the others that are availible was, of course, "Raistlin's Daughter". Any one who is a devouted Raistlin fan MUST read that story. It is, by far, the best in the book. If you want to read more about the companians there is also "Hide And Go Seek", which has the original group. "A Painter's Vision" is also good and so is "By The Measure". I recomend this book to anyone. And if you want to find out if the story about Raistlin's daughter is true, read Dragons Of Summer Flame.

Editorial Review:

The legend of Raistlin's daughter!

A strange story that cannot be confirmed, yet it is whispered among the elves of Silvanesti, gossiped about by the kender of Krynn, and told here for the first time by Caramon, the enigmatic mage's surviving twin.

A wondrous new novella journeying into secrets of the heart and rumors about the past that have bearing on the future of Krynn.

Plus ten exciting short stories -- untold tales of chivalry and affection, heroic quests and foul villainy, magic in battle and transcendent defeat -- featuring all the beloved companions and fantastical creatures of the best-selling Dragonlance Saga.

The story that has entrhalled over three million readers worldwide, as created by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman.
