Where's the Ending 4 out of 5 stars.

The book itself was a decent finally to the trilogy. The entire series is one of my favorites(so much in fact that I have read all three several times) However... I really would either have liked closure to the Gillian thing, or a continuation in perhaps another book

Absolutely Wonderful 4 out of 5 stars.

This book is a great conclusion to the saga. The only problem is how rare it is. Even the paperback version is hard to find for a decent price. The saga is my favorite sci-fi saga, and The Paratwa really sums up everything. Liege-Killer was like a small puzzle within a larger one. Ash Ock and Paratwa allow the other pieces to slowly fall into place. When you're done reading the saga, you understand everything..yet at the same time, your head is still spinning from everything.

Editorial Review:

The human race is forced to band together when it is revealed that the dreaded Paratwa, bio-assassins who once gutted the Earth, are returning with a new technology to enslave all of humankind, and the planet's only hope is a rogue Paratwa. Reprint. PW. K.

More of What You Liked in Liege-Killer 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Most of the reviews have explained some of the plot, so I won't rehash that. What I will try to do is explain why you should or shouldn't buy this, whether you'll like this or not.

First, you probably shouldn't buy or read this until you have read the first book in the series, Liege-Killer. The series is definitely in the genre of science fiction thrillers, where the action flows through quick and strong, the events really have major consequences, and major conspiracies are revealed. It's a great read.

If you like Liege-Killer, then will you like Ash Ock. It gives you more of what makes Liege-Killer a great read. If you thought the Paratwa and the Irryan Council had conspiracies up their sleave, there are more hidden agendas and conspiracies that are revealed and more struggles to fight, with even bigger stakes for the characters involved. If you didn't like Liege-Killer, then you'll probably not like Ash Ock either, since it's more of what's in Liege-Killer.

One word of warning. If you're going to buy and read Ash Ock, you'd better buy the third book in the series, Paratwa. Even though Liege-Killer was a book that can stand on its own, and the story has a satisfying ending, the Ash Ock book is the 1st part of a 2 part story that ends in Paratwa. Ash Ock ends abruptly in the middle of a story and Paratwa continues right where Ash Ock ends and ends the 2 part story in a nice conclusion. So get both, or you'll be kicking yourself after you finish Ash Ock and you'll be wondering what happens in the next hour in the story.

I haven't had this much fun reading a science fiction thriller in a long time. Enjoy the ride.

One of my favorite sci-fi novels! 5 out of 5 stars.
6 of 6 people found this review helpful.

My friend bought this book for me as a joke because I found the cover art to be amusing. I had read the synopsis on the back of the book, but never seriously thought about reading it until my friend bought it for me. Boy am I glad she did! The book was an genuine page-turner with twists and surprises around every bend. It follows a paratwa - an assassin that is composed of two bodies but one mind - and the paratawa's hunters and victims. In a relatively peaceful existence where everything (including the weather) is controlled by technology, the citizens are literally sheep for the taking as the paratwa reaks havoc. Two paratwa hunters are unfrozen from stasis and sent on the hunt... with technolgoy enabling anybody to alter their identity and the Ash Ock able to fill any position of power, everybody becomes a suspect!

Not only is the book a fascinating and well-crafted story, it brings the eery question to mind of how much technology is too much? And when, not if, will humanity become its own worse enemy?

Editorial Review:

Two hundred years after Earth is devastated by nuclear war and genetically engineered Paratwa assassins, the humans of orbiting Earth colonies are at peace, until a series of murders reveal the reemergence of the Paratwa. Reprint. K. PW.

A refreshing change.. 5 out of 5 stars.

Anachronisms
by Christopher Hinz

This book caught me off guard. A sleeper hit!

I was particularly impressed by the concept of software sentinels. As an engineer, I can appreciate Christopher Hinz' foresight into the requirement of stringent levels of software security - something very likely to develop in the way he envisioned it in his book.

Christopher Hinz style is very technical and precise. Perhaps he was experimenting with it in this novel, as his others books are different.

A rather refreshing change.

The book's treatment of psychic phenomena was a treat. A more thoughtful approach that made the story intriguing, and not a re-hash of old ideas.

If you like a different book, of similar genre to Gene Roddenberry's ideas with a more techno-psi-twist to it, you'll probably want to read it.

And then wonder.. when the next book in the series will be coming out..?

The starship Alchermon is several months out from Earth, on a simple mission of planetary exploration, when Captain Ericho Brad encounters a strange alien on the planet Sycamore. Against advice, he brings the alien on board. The author also wrote "Liege-Killer".
