Solid Tips to Help You Get More Out of the Internet 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

This book was definitely a whole lot more than I bargained for.

If you're new to the internet, and you're looking for a way to learn how to use all of these really cool tools on the internet, like bookmarking, or Google Docs, then you'll definitely love this book. If you're an online business owner who wants to increase your productivity, then you'll love this book even more.

It is, of course, a book of tips, and it does contain 500 different tips. It's broken down into chapters, and the tips in each chapter cover either a specific site or application on the internet: Firefox, Blogger, Flickr, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Gmail, MySpace, Skype, meebo, Google Calendar and Doc, and Stikkitt. The final chapter covers websites that will pay you to write for them, making this the perfect book for anyone who is looking for a way to make a little extra money on the internet.

Within each chapter, the author then breaks each site or application down into bite size chunks. He shows you how to take each site and get a whole lot more out out of it without any extra work.

The chapter I especially loved is the chapter on Firefox (I just made the switch because I was having so many problems with Internet Explorer.) You'll learn how to quickly tweak Firefox and customize it to make it do exactly what you need it to do.You'll also learn how to avoid phishing scams, as well as manage everything from bookmarks to addons. You'll become a Firefox expert in no time.

There's also plenty in here for business owners with the information on all of the sites where you may now market: Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, etc. These tips will definitely help you with those sites. The chapter on getting organized will help you get your business organized online and help you avoid the hassles of losing your documents. You'll also be able to make your business more mobile.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking to get more out of the internet regardless of why you are logged on. It won't make you an expert, but it will definitely make your experience a whole lot more pleasant.

Good Blueprint for Success 5 out of 5 stars.
13 of 15 people found this review helpful.

This book is very hands-on and covers all the aspects of selling on eBay if you're a business as opposed to a hobbyist. The 'launch, test, and refine' model is key along with the tips on researching other sellers and their pricing strategies. This book plus another title like Unleashing the Power of eBay gives a good jump on the competition.

Grab this, and the Powerseller Secrets 5 out of 5 stars.

My 2 fav guides to eBay business sales are this book and the Powerseller Secrets. This one is best for transitioning your business from 'brick to click'. Ive seen some eBay guides which are too simple, they're oriented for the folks who are cleaning out their attics and this isn't one of them.

Editorial Review:

Did you know there's a way you can reach nearly 95 million potential new customers? Follow the advice of authors Janelle Elms, Michael Bellomo, and Joel Elad and you just might be able to buy that island and retire sooner than you think. Evaluate your business, and discover all the ways it can benefit from eBay. Create an eBay identity and integrate eBay into your existing infrastructure, making it a natural extension of your business. Track and evaluate sales, create new markets, and test new products. You’ll never look at online auctions the same way again.

See dreams come true 4 out of 5 stars.

Reviewed by Susan Pettrone for Reader Views (5/07)

With four separate stories in this book, the reader soon finds that each of these stories has one thing in common with the others -- God's love in their lives, which helps each characters find true happiness and love.

In the first story, we learn that Laurel is burdened with the memory of her father killed while robbing a bank. In the same town, as she tries to make her way in the world alone, we see what true strength of character can be. Laurel faces daily the disdain of her employer's wife, yet she continues to hold fast her strong faith in God. Somewhere within all of this, she believes, there must be happiness for her. And there is happiness. Though we see Laurel is not ready for love, so she pushes it aside as if to punish herself with lonely moments and a life alone, finding solace in her piano playing and the music she finds bit by bit. The ending of this story is both heartwarming and strong. To tell the ending would not be fair for this reviewer to reveal, but I will share that Laurel finds the happiness she thought was elusive and she finds it in a place she never dreamed possible.

In the second story, the reader meets Prudie, a headstrong woman of the 50's, who is bound and determined to gain equality within the strict society of the 1950's. Convinced that the only way he can gain Prudie's attention is Alex who dreams up a fantastical idea to place within fortune cookies special notes to win her to him and thus arrange a life for them together. At first Prudie seems to stand in her own way to happiness, but the reader sees how through miscommunication and separation the couple comes to an understanding that their love was meant to be from the beginning. The surprise that Alex arranges for Trudie is truly one that will make readers smile and soften the hardest heart. It is a surprise that is brilliant in both its symbolism and its love. And it is a surprise that must be left unsaid here for the reader to truly experience Trudie and her life and how love and God work in mysterious ways.

We meet Bethany in the third story in this book and we find out early on about her difficult life. Thrust into the position of taking care of her mother, the strain of such a job takes its toll of Bethany's young heart. To soothe her soul and perhaps help heal the wounds of being placed in a position so far above her years, she begins to leave little notes, poems, quotes and even thoughts on post it notes anonymously throughout town. One individual is intrigued with the notes to the point of wanting to help this young woman and more. The ending here is again one that must be read to be appreciated, but this reviewer can honestly say that it fits the story quite well and is an uplifting experience all its own.

The fourth and final story in this book is that of Jonica who finds herself becoming an EBAY buyer to help fill her store with wares. Her antique store is her love and she searches EBAY closely as she finds bit after bit to add to her eclectic, antique collection. But she gathers more than mere antiques. She also gathers a friendship in another EBAY buyer who shows her the ropes on EBAY and offers advice as to how to get what she wants. Another story that must be fully read to appreciate, this one became my favorite of the four in this book. And that is simply because I saw in Jonica, so many women in this world, antique store owner or not, who need someone to befriend them and show them the ropes.

"Love Letters," with its four separate stories, is not only entertaining but insightful as well. These stories show how belief in God and His word can truly change ones life for the better, though sometimes in ways we might not imagine. I recommend this book for readers who wish a bit of spirituality within their stories and who like to see dreams come true as well. For this book has both of those aspects, as well as many more within its pages.

Editorial Review:

Historical Romance: Suddenly fatherless, seventeen-year-old Laurel Rivers falls in love with the author of an anonymous song. Prudie Burke is a headstrong twenty-year-old who is wooed by a Chinese/American restaurant heir with fortune cookies. Eighteen-year-old Bethany Prescott must provide for her ailing mother and finds her only outlet to express herself is anonymous notes she posts around town. Jonica Granger is an inexperienced eBay buyer opening an antique store that rivals analready-established storeowner in town. The two begin heated e-mail correspondence that turns into something else. Can these four women find true love through the written word?

The essential book to read before bidding, buying, or selling.

Buying or selling a vehicle on an eBay® auction can be complicated. The buyer must know what to look for and what to watch out for. The seller must know about providing accurate descriptions and photos, shipping the car, and many overlooked details. Both buyer and seller can bid and sell with confidence after pocketing this book.

• More than 70 percent of all vehicles sold on eBay Motors are interstate— and, therefore, complicated—transactions
• Essential reading for anyone buying or selling a vehicle on eBay

Little valuable information, lacking vital elements 1 out of 5 stars.
18 of 19 people found this review helpful.

I was looking for some guidance on building and application using the eBay API. This book was a disappointment because it talks about the eBay API in general terms at high level only. The book also has a shortage of examples.

Editorial Review:

Designed to help you master the many powerful capabilities of eBay Web Services API, Mining eBay Web Services is the most complete book on the topic. Focused exclusively on development features, it teaches you how to build practical, real-world applications with the eBay API. You'll learn how to: define a customized search, work with web service data, write eBay applications in nine popular programming languages, write applications for mobile devices, craft applications that target user needs. If you are an eBay entrepreneur, a third-party application developer, or an eBay power user, this book will transform you into an eBay whiz and give you that competitive edge.
