I found this guide a little more confusing than guides for the previous games, but it is a must for people who are new to the Silent Hill series. The thing I found most confusing with this guide was how items were identified on the maps. I didn't like the system the author used. It made finding some items difficult.

This guide looks great and detailed. The only thing I don't like very much is the appendix. The endings weren't detailed but a few sentences instead. Also there is no pictures that correspond to each ending.

This game is the best of this serie that i've ever seen. This one is full of surprises and tips. The strategy guide is complete for me. It is helpful for get all ends.I enjoyed a lot with this guide. I hope you too.

Content Inclusive but Use Intrusive 5 out of 5 stars.

Please note that the five stars are for the content of the strategy guide only because, regardless of what people have to say on the subject, this strategy guide isn't needed as you wander the misty realms of Silent Hill in search of Mary and that "special place" you long to return to. In fact, it is simply a way to slight yourself and the gaming experience that you've no doubt gone out of your way to acquire. This isn't to say that it isn't useful if you feel hard-pressed and left without options and it also isn't meant to imply that it doesn't include everything one needs to take a walk through James Sutherland's life. In fact, this is quite the contrary, saying that everything is here. I've compared its content to that I've found elsewhere after I used it on my third run through the Hill and it was it was quite inclusive. That, however, is the problem if your only wanting a casual playing experience, because once you've done something you've done it and you can't repeat it. Reading a "how to" isn't always the best way to find out these little tidbits of gameplay.

Instead, one needs only to take their time and look around in their first outing, remembering that something is potentially an item or a place to go and that ever scrap of paper is a clue. It also should be taken into account that searching is needed, and that all enemies are defeatable, and that there are multiple endings based on time used, difficulty, on the items found, and the number of beasts killed. Since this takes multiple tries anyhow, one can find these out without the use of a visual aid.

Hey where are the secrets in this book? How to see the UFO, the hyper blaster and the sword. This book dosen't even list them.

I got this hoping it would help with the puzzles. Now there must be at least 2 versions of the Silent Hill game. As this book only has 199 items listed as the total. and there are actually 204 + Hidden Items.

This guide helped through some basics but had bad info too. Like the turnstile puzzle it was wrong. It was NO HELP with the piano.

And did not have full item & weapon lists. Like it did not even mention the Hammer which is like the most wicked thing in the world.

The maps were totaly excelent. But alot of stuff wasent marked. Or was labeled in the wrong place. Like the steel pipe & some ammo & drinks ect.

This book is great for maps and some tips but thats it.

It only has 2 locations for the channeling stone.

All in all this book is quite dissapointing =(

I purchased silent hill, and I found it to be a great thrilling game, but I don't have much time to play games, so I soon found myself stuck very early on and I didn't have the drive to play the game after a hard day of work. I decided to buy this guide to save my will to explore this spooky town, and I found it perfect. I got as far as the elementary school on my own, and after purchasing this guide, I finished the game in three settings. Everything was right on and it made the game a breeze, even tells you how to get the different endings. Highly recommended.

Previous reviews have mentioned errors in the clues to this book, specifically the astrological room, and have referred readers to gaming magazines for the "true" clues. In my case, the reverse was true. The magazine clues for the astrological room were worthless, while this book got me through that puzzle with no problems at all!

I'd wager there are two "versions" of Silent Hill, each with slightly different puzzle solutions. For the version of Silent Hill I have, this book worked great. Unfortunately, you're not likely to figure out which "version" of the game you have until you follow either the magazine cheats or the cheats in this book. I don't know if the other Silent Hill strategy books are any better in this regard.

Another worthless [guide] from Brady Games.....I buy Strategy Guides Just for what they are called STRATEGY GUIDES..Again we have a[n] ...Incomplete walkthrough with some things completely omitted because the "author"and I use that term loosely does not want to "spoil" The game...HELLO!!!!Thats why we buy guides!!!so we know whats going on and have the upper hand...I hate Brady guides but this was all the store had.. ...
