Really enjoyed this author's telling of the Camelot story. 4 out of 5 stars.

Author Courtway Jones gives us an unusual look at the King Arthur and Camelot story. Told using Mordred, bastard son of Arthur, we seen a very different perspective of Arthurian England. The author pulls you in to the story from the first page and keeps up the pace very well. In most other books about the Camelot legend, Mordred is not portrayed very simpathetically. Jones gives us a much more believable Mordred. While perhaps not historically accurate, I enjoyed this trip to Camelot.

A great conclusion 5 out of 5 stars.

This is the third book in Courtway Jones' reworking of the Arthurian legend, following Witch of the North and In the Shadow of the Oak King. This book tells the tale of Dylan the Orphan, who learns that his real name is Mordred, and he is the illegitimate son of King Arthur. Successful on the hurley field, he sets out to prove himself to Arthur and the world, and finds that there are many obstacles that must be overcome, some insurmountable.

Like the other two books, this book can be read as a stand-alone book, but a much deeper understanding would be gained by reading the whole series. Magic completely disappeared in this book, as did the inclusion of actual Dark Age customs. However, this book has a gripping storyline, which draws the reader through the finale of the saga. It is an excellent conclusion to the series, and well worth reading.

Editorial Review:

Growing up in a remote land, Dylan the Orphan, whose real name is Mordred, listens to his foster mother's tales about his royal ties to King Arthur and prepares to meet his destiny in the land of Camelot.

What a book! 5 out of 5 stars.

Author Courtway Jones takes you into the magic of Camelot with characters who are seen with all of their human foibles. Rather than the hocus pocus of Merlin, and the heroic Arthur, Jones gives us more reasonable characterizations of these mythical figures. You are drawn in because first and foremost, these are flesh and blood men and women, who do ordinary things, have reasonable explainations for the actions they take, and act like you would expect could really have been the way things were in medieval Britain. The reader, rather than feeling like they are reading a fantasy novel, feel like they are reading about real peoples lives. This made this reader feel much more involved in the storyline and characters. This is a fabulous book. I, for one, will be reading the next books in this fabulous series.

You have no choice, you must read this book. 5 out of 5 stars.

This is how the Arthurian legend should have gone. The story fills in the gaps that a typical King Arthur story fails to address. By the end of this epic tail you will have come to love these characters through crying, laughing and cheering for them.

Editorial Review:

A recreation of the Arthurian legend. A first novel. Reprint. PW. K.

Jones does it again! 4 out of 5 stars.

Author Courtway Jones takes us once again to the Kingdom of Camelot. This second installment is this time told from the prospective of Morgan, daughter of Igraine and her first husband. Morgan becomes half sister to Arthur when King Uther takes the Lady Igraine for himself. Morgan's story of being trained by the Lady of the Lake, going off to raise the sons of a widower, and then returning to the intrigues at Camelot keeps the reader riveted. Jones develops his characters so well that you can see them in your minds eye and you find yourself swept up in the intrigue as though you are there. This book leaves the reader with a true sense of what the characters of legend might really have been experiencing. They are very realistically portaited. There are simple reasons for the way the story plays out, rather than the mystical stories usually spun around Camelot. This reader hopes that the next book is as good as the last two.

Editorial Review:

In an original treatment of the Arthurian legends and the sequel to In the Shadow of the Oak King, Morgan Le Fay blames Arthur's bloodline for killing her precious father and retaliates by placing a curse on Guenevere, rendering the queen childless.
