An excellent and entertaining read 5 out of 5 stars.

I actually bought this book over two years ago and just recently got around to reading it. I was glad I did as I found it to be an exhilirating adventure that kept me turning the pages until the climactic ending. This is a martial arts-oriented epoch that even includes a glossary of terms in the back so as to educate the reader as the story unfolds. La Plante is a martial artist and his understanding shows in the many fight sequences throughout the book. The author writes vividly and makes you feel like you are 'there' with the characters, experiencing the situation at hand. As a fantasy/ science fiction reader, I appreciated that La Plante could stick to the point of each scenario, without trailing off into endless details that only detract the reader from the point the story. He offers enough detail to prime your imagination and delivers the story succinctly and satisfiably. I would thus highly recommend this book to anyone into fantasy, martial arts and fictional works.

Editorial Review:

When a seductive and dangerous woman betrays him, young Tegne+a7 is left powerless just when he needs his courage the most--when the Warlord and his assassins take up arms against him. Reprint.

Weird, but grows on you... 4 out of 5 stars.

I read Tegne some time ago. My interest in Martial arts and all things Eastern had drawn me to it. I really enjoyed it and hoped that La Plante would write a sequel (it was really set up for one). Finally I found it. It had only been published in Europe so it was not easy to find. It has a totally different feel from the first novel and frankly really stretches one's ability to suspend disbelief. However, having said that, that book really grew on my...it took two readings, but I really enjoyed the action sequences and the interesting twists that La Plante used in the novel.

If you enjoyed the first, take the time to read the second. You won't be dissappointed.

Editorial Review:

This second part of the "Tegne" trilogy and sequel to "Warlord of Zendow" stands completely on its own right and describes the rule of Tegne over his kingdom and his struggle against Neeka, an enchantress. Set in the future when the polar ice cap has melted and toppled the weight of the earth.

Twenty times better than Mantis 5 out of 5 stars.

Mantis was formulaic and quite boring. This book is the exact opposite, and the Leopard was one of the most original/interesting villians that I have read about in a long, long time. Read this book ASAP if you love thrillers.

Editorial Review:

In the sequel to Mantis, medical examiner Josef Tanaka returns to Japan to find his brother's murderer, training himself in Japanese ritual in order to stop The Leopard, a stealthy killer. Reprint. K. PW.
