Junie B. Jones: First Ever Junie B-Shirt (A Stepping Stone Book(TM))

The product description says "A Stepping Stone Book" - I mistakenly thought it was an actual book. Not what I expected at all.

cute but big 3 out of 5 stars.

This is a really cute shirt but my six year old (she is small for her age, but...) "swims" in it. It's really big on her. I wish it came in different sizes!

cute 4 out of 5 stars.

the shirt is good quality and my daughter was so excited to receive it. She wears it to bed as it is a little big for her to wear as a normal shirt. I would say it is around a size 10.

Junie B Shirt 5 out of 5 stars.

What a cute little shirt. My daughter needed something to wear as her class was going to see Junie B Jones 1st grader and what a surprise it was for her to be able to wear this cute tee. Great Price. Nice quality shirt. Fits sort of small.

Duped! 1 out of 5 stars.

I was duped. I expected this to be a book. My daughter loves Junie B., so it is fine, but I did notice that it is a size 10/12! Sigh. I guess she can sleep in it. Just wanted to give a heads up. I am laughing about it....now.

JUNIE B. JONES IS NOT A CROOK, #9:

When Junie B. isn't picked as a flower girl in her Aunt Flo's wedding, she can still find some way to get some attention!

I love Junie B. Jones books 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I like this book because it is very funny. Especially the part when Junie B. practices for the carnival. She practices and practices and the day of the carnival she loses all the games except she won one prize and that was a stupid, dumb comb. That was the worst night of her life.

What is the appeal of this crap? 1 out of 5 stars.
2 of 7 people found this review helpful.

My wife and I started reading to our daughter before she was born, and continue to read to her every day. She's four now, and her language skills are excellent. I am hopeful that continuing to read to her will help her grow. But it won't be with this crap. I cannot understand how child-like grammar, which is worse than the actual grammar used by my four year old daughter, can possibly be a positive influence. Moreover, the behavior of this character is exactly the behavior we are trying to help our daughter grow out of, so why would I encourage it by reading this? There are plenty of silly and fun books to be had, but the Junie B. Jones line is a disservice to children.

Editorial Review:

"I'm the bestest winner in the world!"

It's Carnival Night, and Lucille has already won a box of fluffy cupcakes with sprinkles on them. But when Junie B. wins the Cake Walk, she chooses the bestest cake of all -- the one wrapped in sparkly aluminum foil. How was she to know it was a lethal weapon?

Daughter loves these stories! 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

My 6 year old daughter just loves the Junie B. Jones stories, and as the person that reads them to her, so do I. The stories are entertaining, easy to read a chapter or 2 a night and the themes are something that a 5 or 6 year old girl can identify with.

Junie B. Jones should not be taken as Shakespeare! 4 out of 5 stars.
2 of 3 people found this review helpful.

Both of my children have grown up with Junie B. Jones. I am a certified elementary school teacher, and I get as much joy from Junie B. Jones as my kids do. We all laugh at her, and we all talk about how much trouble they would get into if they did the things that Junie B. Jones does. Children understand that Junie B. Jones is a character in a story. Children understand that the things she does are wrong. We should all be happy that Barbara Park has created a character who has inspired so many children to want to read! Afterall, isn't that the goal? We should get down off of our pedastools and realize that this is not Shakespeare or rocket science, and we are not going to create any criminals from reading about Junie B. Jones. What we will create are READERS.

Editorial Review:

Junie B. is a very grown-up little lady. So how come everyone treats her like a baby? It's not fair. But Junie B. knows just how to fix the situation. Her aunt Flo is getting married. What a perfect chance for Junie B. to show everyone how grown-up she is! Too bad she wasn't picked to be the flower girl in the wedding so she could really show off. But surely Junie B. can still find some way to get everyone's attention.

Junie B., a young 6 year old girl, acts like a brat. One day when she takes her precious mittens to school... "Oh no! Somebody stole my mittens!!" she screams.

At first she thinks just taking a teddy bear backpack from the lost and found in the princilpal's office is a good idea. But when the principal figures out what she is doing he says, "No teddy bear backpack."

So if you are the kind of reader that likes characters who have to solve tough problems, this is the book for you. This book is great for second graders. Most kids think it is funny. Check out other books in the series like Junie B. Jones and A Little Monkey Business.

Junie B. Is Not a Crook by Barbara Park is just the book for you if you are sneaky. The lesson is that you can't just be sneaky. Something bad might happen to you.

The problem is that Junie B. keeps finding things and not putting them in the lost and found. Read the book to find out how she fixes her problem.

Do like characters that make thier ideas work? Do you like clever characters? If you do then this is the book for you.

Cute story 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

The title and the cover illustration told me it would be a quick read but I had the feeling I wouldn't enjoy it. It just seemed too cute. I decided to give it a read when I was stuck on a much harder book and needed a little fluff for my brain. By the bottom of the first page, I was in love with the book: "A 'nouncement is the school word for listen to me... and I MEAN it."

Barbara Park clearly understands how kids that age (four to six) think. So many of things that Junie B. says and thinks are things that could have come out of Sean's mouth or the mouths of his friends. I was laughing on almost every page.

As a parent of a child who is almost ready for kindergarten, I found this book about a Valentine's Day party very funny. Junie B's narration with all of the types of mistakes I've heard my son and his friends make made me laugh. The teacher's exasperation at some of the children's antics rings true too.

Editorial Review:

It's a mushy gushy mystery!

Hurray! February 14—Valentime's Day, as June B. calls it—is just around the corner. Junie B. can't wait to see all the valentimes she'll get. But she never expected a big, mushy card from a secret admirer! Who is this secret mystery guy, anyway? Junie B. is determined to find out!

Junie B Jones has trouble being a beauty shop person 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I read this book and I thought I'll never do that ever. But, other wise the book was funny, cute and had lots of advice. Here is some advice if you are older than thirteen. You can cut your own hair. I gave this book five stars because, it's like the book of the year! Junie B. Jones thinks with her springs in her hair that she is going to be like a total doofuss. But, the lady at the beaty shop helps her with her springs. She gets a whole new look! I love the book! IT'S THE BEST BOOK I HAD EVER READ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bad and Badder 1 out of 5 stars.
0 of 4 people found this review helpful.

Okay, I'll start with the good points.

1. good for little kids who know a lot of weird humor

2. sort of funny, even when you look back on it

3. nice, if you have a small kid, buy it.

now, the bad parts.

1. Junie B. Jones is retarded.

2. bad grammar

3. story is usually very boring unless you're small

Some people may think it's stupid, but this is a book for kids who have just learned to read chapter books. I DO NOT recommend it for kids over 7, but children under 7 will learn a lot from it. (including how not to cut their hair)

Editorial Review:

Junie B. Jones knows what she wants to be when she grows up -- a beauty

shop guy! All she needs is a little practice. Okay, a lot of practice. And a

few volunteers. Like her bunny slippers. And her dog. And maybe even...herself?

Funny, Sweet, and Slightly Naughty 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

There seems to be a debate whether these books are appropriate for young children. This is my first Junie B. book (I had been reluctant to try them due to the debate). While I see both sides, I come down squarely in favor of them, if they are read with a parent or teacher. First, they are very 'real' -- Junie B. talks and thinks like a real six-year-old. Second, they are very, very funny -- for children and adults. Third, they provide teaching moments for the adult to discuss Junie's conduct and feelings -- and by extension the child's feelings. (I used this story as a vehicle to discuss my four-year-old's frustration with her two-year-old brother's conduct.) But there are some downsides. First, the grammar is too 'real' -- it is how real six-year-olds talk. Since I am reading to my four-year-old, I edit the text as I read to clean up some of the grammar. Even if I did not, my daughter's grammar is not going to be harmed by Junie B. Second, Junie B. is not a model six-year-old -- and who is? Nevertheless, an adult should discuss with the child times when Junie B. acts inappropriately. My daughter and I also read Magic TreehouseMagic Tree House Series Books: Night of the Ninjas / Dolphins At Daybreak / Polar Bears Past Bedtime / Tonight on the Titanic / Magic Tree House Research Guide: Rain Forests (Unboxed Set of MARY POPE OSBORNE Magic TreeHouse Books, # 5, 9, 12, 17 + 1 Research Guide) and Geronimo Stilton The Curse of the Cheese Pyramid (Geronimo Stilton, No. 2)books. My daughter likes all three series. I am bored to tears with the Magic Treehouse (and frankly dislike the messages in some of the books). My favorite is Geronimo Stilton -- I love the high quality paper, pictures, and text; the stories are funny and engaging.

Editorial Review:

It's pooey on B-A-B-I-E-S until Junie B. finds out that her new dumb old baby brother is a big fat deal. Her two bestest friends are giving her everything they own just to see him. And guess what else? Maybe she can bring him to school on Pet Day.

Chasing Drunks and Fake Disneyland 1 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I don't even know where to begin. These books are so horrible, and not just for the fact that the character of Junie B is a mean, bratty, ignorant, pathetic excuse of a kid. I fully realize that the grammatical errors and misspelled words are put in there on purpose for so-called humorous effect, but when you have 1st and 2nd graders reading this and you have to keep explaining that it is not correct to say "bestest" or "funnest" or "I runned to her house..." well, it gets highly annoying.

Also, this particular book states that if you want to be a police officer when you grow up that you will spend your time arresting drunks. That's a GREAT topic to have to explain to your 2nd grader!

Then there is the part about how Mickey Mouse is just a guy in a costume. Even the character Junie B. get s a sick feeling in her stomach thinking about how Disneyland is fake! Did the pathetic excuse for an author think about how young readers would feel? I would not recommend these books to anyone.

Editorial Review:

Junie's having a rough week. First she got punishment for shooting off her mouth in kindergarten. And now she's in big trouble again! 'Cause Monday is Job Day, and Junie B. told her class that she's got the "bestest" job of all. Only, what the heck is it?

This book is so funny it's about a boy name Alex. He wants to be the class clouwn.Alex isn't what you'd call a teacher's pet. That's where a boy name TJ comes in. He is a baseball player and he's very good. You should read this book because it is so good as you read it, you can imagine what is happening in your head.

A Kid's Book Review 4 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

This is a really good book and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Also, if you like comedy books this would be a fine book to read. One part that made me laugh is when Alex lies about the kitty fritters. Alex is the main character in the book. He is known for lying. So if you like books with people lying in it, this is a good book for you.

Editorial Review:

To celebrate the 15th anniversary of the first publication of Skinnybones, bestselling author Barbara Park has updated the text of this award-winning novel and made it even more hilarious. A whole new generation of kids will meet Alex "Skinnybones" Frankovich, the smallest player on his baseball team, who is famous for his big mouth. Alex knows he's gone too far when he brags his way into a battle of skills with T.J. Stoner, a cocky Little League legend with a perfect hitting record. Can blabbermouth Alex talk his way out of this mess?
