We're on to something here.. 5 out of 5 stars.

My daughter has fallen in love with chapter books and its all because of Junie B! She is hilarious! Young kids can identify with her and gasp in shock at just how bossy she can be! This book is great for kids starting kindergarten, but I would recommend it to any child, because its so funny!

JUNIE B. JONES AND THE STUPID SMELLY BUS by and illustrated by K.P.

The story is about Junie B. Jones going on the bus and she didn't want to go on the bus. It's about her getting in big, big, huge trouble. She got in trouble because she was hiding from the class and was doing what she was not supposed to do. She even called 911. She did that because she didn't want to go on the stupid, smelly bus. She doesn't like to go on buses. She only likes going in cars to school. At the end she decides to go on the bus because she has a new friend on the bus and in her classroom too.
I feel excited about this book because it is a funny book. I like to read this book a lot of times. My favorite part of this book is when she falls down and hits her head on the table. I think my family should read this book. I think my sister and my three brothers should read Junie B. Jones and The Stupid Smelly Bus. They should read it because the book is really, really funny.

Editorial Review:

Remember when it was scary to go to school? 'Cause it was your first day and you didn't know anything. Meet Junie B. Jones, kindergartner. She's so scared of the school bus and the meanies on it that when it's time to go home, she doesn't.

First Pualie Allen Puffer told everyone that they have a monstre under their bed. So now junie b can't go to sleep. The next day Grace said that she should not had lissened to him.now her mom and dadies telling her that monster aren't real. She said that if she goes to sleep then the monster will bite her head off. What I liked most about this book is Junie B. keep getting out of bed it was so funny. What I liked least about this book is Junie B. is all ways screaming over everthing like if she don't get her way she will just start screaming

Editorial Review:

There's no such thing as monsters. Mother and Daddy even said so. But then why is there monster drool on Junie B.'s pillow? Oh, no! What if Paulie Allen Puffer is right -- what if she really does have a monster under her bed? If Junie B. goes to sleep, the monster might see her feet hanging down. And he might think her piggy toes are yummy little wiener sausages!

Junk food for the brain 1 out of 5 stars.
2 of 4 people found this review helpful.

I may be in the minority, but I think these books are absolutely horrible. My twin's teacher reads them to the kids at school, and my daughter loves them. She brought one home to read to me, and I was appalled. I think they are tasteless and have no redeeming value to them at all. The grammar is horrible (this is how Junie talks), and although I know it is suppose to be funny, I just don't get it. The subject matter is even worse. I think kids are too young to worry about boys, and I do not believe I want my kids reading books that are so mean spirited. With all the wonderful choices in children's literature, why choose this?

Not Ideal Models for Kids to Emulate 1 out of 5 stars.
0 of 4 people found this review helpful.

The Junie B. Jones series represents thoughtful storytelling replete with the sorts of syntactic and semantic errors that all thoughtful parents try to stamp out of their children's discourse conventions. For example, my multilingual daughter, a second grader in an international school in Japan, incessantly mixes Korean, Japanese and English grammars and meanings, not to mention reproducing the very colloquial forms of casual spoken English I'm always encouraging her to readjust in agreement with more standardized forms.

The typical difficulties that young native speakers of English have in moving, say, from the comparative to the superlative or in adjusting tense forms in regular and irregular verbs are codified throughout this series. Those who might object to this critique would also have to defend why errors such as those referenced here occur not only in the dialogues among the characters, but also in the expository portions of the stories. The author makes no effort to encourage her young readers to see the differences between colloquial forms and the more widely accepted standardized forms.

Thanks to Ms. Park's efforts, young children honing their language skills now have an opportunity to model the varieties that society generally deplores. Though her stories are delightfully cute, her methods do not further the kinds of knowledge that the larger society will come to expect from informed citizens. If her editor hasn't yet been dismissed, I would encourage Ms. Park to reflect a bit more on her approach to educational texts.

My daughter loves these stories 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I have purchased nearly all the books from the Junie B. Jones collection. My daughter enjoys listening to me read them to her. We originally got one book through scholastic book club through the school and I literally read that book to her over and over again. Having a good amount of the collection just makes it more diversified for me ~ and keeps me interested too.

The books are well written. A girl can identify with the subjects of the book and even though the books are long, they are not so long that 2 or 3 chapters a night doesn't complete the story in 3 nights.

I highly recommend the collection to anyone with a girl in the lower grades at school.

Editorial Review:

The world's funniest kindergartner is back, in her 15th book!

It's almost the end of the school year, and Room Nine is taking a field trip to a farm! There's lots of fun farm stuff there. Like a real actual barn. And a real actual farmer. There's even real alive animals you can pet! Only, where's the gift shop? That's what Junie B. Jones would like to know. Surely no one would want Junie B. to go home empty-handed. . . .

My daughter and I are such big fans of the Barbara Park series, Junie B. Jones. These are light, humerous books and I love listening to my daughter's giggles everytime Junie B. does something in character. We have read all the books in the series and are craving more! The books are a special bedtime treat for everyone. Barbara Park, please write more books!

Pack your bags and get ready for big laughs as our favorite Junie B. Jones heads off to a sleepover at the home of a friend, who seems to be used to a lifestyle quite a bit different than Junie's.

No matter how thoroughly her parents set down the rules of behavior, somehow things are spilled, broken, and Junie is... well, Junie!

Ultimately, Junie B. Jones Is A Party Animal is a book that will show young readers that there's no place like home! What a wizard idea!

bad message 2 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I generally dislike the Junie B. Jones books because of the terrible grammar and Junie B's bad behavior. However, the books are funny, and my daughter loves to read them, so I don't make a big issue of it. We correct the grammar as we read along.

This book contained a passage that really bothered me. Junie B. gets in trouble, and her mother asks her to apologize. Junie B. says: "A 'pology is the words I'm sorry. Except for you don't actually have to mean it. 'Cause nobody can even tell the difference." What kind of thing is that to tell a child?! I'm glad we were reading this together so we could discuss that idea.

Editorial Review:

Junie B. is the bestest spier in the whole world. That's 'cause she has sneaky feet. And her nose doesn't whistle when she breathes. But guess what? Junie B. might be real sneaky and real peeky, but when she spies on her teacher, she could get into real trouble!

Mick Harte Was Here 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

Mick Harte is the protagonist's brother, who died from a bike accident. Phoebe was the sister of Mick Harte, which is the protagonist. Phoebe and Mick got into fights all the time. They fought over a tattoo of pirates from a cereal box one day. Mick made up a story because Phoebe and Mick wrote F-A-R-T in a wet cemented driveway. Mick said a monkey wrote it and he already chased it back to Africa.
Then a terrible thing happened when Phoebe was at soccer practice. She was running and she heard sirens coming her way. She doesn't like sirens at all, they mean bad things happened. Instead she stops running and looks up at the ambulance. The ambulance pulls into the school road and Mick's bike was on the ground and Phoebe realized that Mick probably got hurt. She was hoping it was one of Mick's friends. Then later she found out it was Mick and he died from a head injury. If you like Funny but sad books, here is a great book for those emotions.

Editorial Review:

How could someone like Phoebe’s brother die? Mick Harte was one of the coolest kids you’d ever want to meet. Mick was also the kid who would still be alive now—if he’d only worn his bicycle helmet. . . .

Afternoon kindergarten is having a field day, and Junie B. Jones is team captain! Only, here's the problem. Room Eight keeps on winning too many events. And so how will Room Nine ever become the kindergarten champions? As Captain Field Day, will Junie B. find a way to lead her team to victory? Or will it be up to someone else to save the day?

Boy on the Search 3 out of 5 stars.
3 of 4 people found this review helpful.

"Big Move" is what the main character of this book is going through. "The Kid in the Red Jacket," is mostly about a little boy that is moving to a brand new life. A young man named Howard learns what it is like to be the new kid. After going for a long ride he gets out the car only to find himself living next to a little annoying girl name Molly. Molly parents died, and she would do anything to find some friends to play with in her neighborhood, and after she saw Howard, that is what she did, anything. Molly followed Howard wherever he went: school, home, restaurant, everywhere. The conflict of this story is that Howard moved to a new house and tries his best to find friends other than Molly.
The words I would use to explain this book would be: horrible, weird, and stupid. This was the worst book I ever read in my life. The reason why I would say that is because it is a book that is not meant in to be published or even in stores. I would like to tell the author of this book that it was not so bad but it needs a better ending, and it also needs to have more excitement. I recommend it to children under eight years old. I would also recommend it to my little cousin.

Editorial Review:

"Ten-year-old Howard Jeeter's life is temporarily destroyed by a cross-country move. His first contact in Massachusetts is Molly, an intrusive first-grader, whose attempts to be friendly drive Howard to distraction. Park writes in a witty and bittersweet style about the awkward, super-sensitive age of early adolescence; her humor reflects and sharpens the sensibilities of her readers in the areas of family and friend relationships. Another first-rate addition to the middle-grade popular reading shelf."--(starred) School Library Journal. Reading level: 4.5.
