Another winner 5 out of 5 stars.

Again another excellent and fun book by Dave Pilkey. Great for early readers to read all on their own and to read to younger children, especially those who enjoy the Captain Underpants stories. An excellent book for children to learn that reading is fun.

A Whole Bunch of Laughter and Fun 5 out of 5 stars.

If your child (or you) are a fan of Dav Pilkey and his silliness, this book will not disappoint. It's full of nonsense and fun! A great way to keep your child reading.

Kids love it. Parents hate it 3 out of 5 stars.

My kids LOVE Captain Underpants, but I've found out the hard way that they don't make for very good read-aloud, bed time books. Be warned : These books are set up in comic strip form on a lot of their pages and without showing your kids EVERY page of the book while reading it, they'll be lost in the story. They're really good books, don't get me wrong, just not very good read-aloud book unless you are sitting in a circle or prepared to do the 'finger under the word as you read' type thing. My four and six year old LOVE them though.

Diamond Dogs! Pilkey's Humor for the Toddler Set 5 out of 5 stars.
6 of 6 people found this review helpful.

Dav Pilkey departs from his wonderfully silly and scatalogically inclined "Captain Underpants" books in the Big Dog and Little Dog series, but displays his usual clever humor in this colorful book for toddlers. It's a chapter book with five brief stories (similar to the "George and Martha" books), in which a very big dog a and very small dog share adventures, many of which get them in trouble with their owner. For example, they have nothing to play with, so they devour a couch; they mistake a skunk for a cat, and arrive home, all stinky, just in time to ruin a party; they play in the mud and spray the owner with mud and water (they take a bath, and "are clean and dry. Now they want to go for another walk").

The color pictures are bright and playful, and Pilkey has interesting compositions: The focus is always on the dogs-sometimes the owner is only partially shown. There is lots of action, and Pilkey uses solid backgrounds painted with acrylics as well as accent patterns to create interest and texture. The organization is superb as well; two simple two simple stories that show the two differently-sized dogs showing canine compassion and affection for each other bracket the three mischievous stories. These are warm and touching, and perhaps a message for young siblings that shared needs and feelings can overcome differences. As others have noted, Pilkey created his own font-"Big Dog," which is fun to look at, and yet another signature Pilkey touch. Highly recommended!

Editorial Review:

Big Dog is ready for some fun. Little Dog is ready, too. Join these irresistible puppy pals on five zippy adventures, together for the first time in one cozy picture book.

SILLY BOOK ABOUT A FAMILY OF DUMB RABBITS AND KIDS LOVE IT. 4 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

This is one of those books that make adults sort of cringe, but that kids seem to love. It is the brief story of a family of truly dumb bunnies, i.e. rabbits. If something can be done wrong then the bunny family does it. Severing the porridge cold? Blow in it. If the Porridge is too hot, well stick it in the microwave for a bit. The art work catches the eye of the children and the situations are so ridiculous that it extracts giggles from all the little ones. I do have a problem, sort of, with the author though. This book being reviewed here is quite good and teaches rather good lessons. The author also, as I understand it, writes the Captain Underpants books, which are truly horrid. That being said, I don't feel the little stories here will "ruin" you children. To be quite frank, if your child wants to build a log cabin from bricks, then folks, you have a problem, and this book quite likely had nothing to do with it. Nice read, kids have fun with it. I liked it.

Editorial Review:

Meet the Dumb Bunnies. They eat lunch in a carwash. They go bowling in a library. And they ice-skate on the bottom of a lake. Everything the Dumb Bunnies do is REALLY dumb--but lots of fun.

When an intruder sneaks into their house, this spectacularly stupid family is stumped. See what happens to their unwelcome guest and laugh yourself silly!

All the Big Dog Little Dog books are wonderful!!! 5 out of 5 stars.

I don't have any kids, but I do have five dogs, and all the Big Dog Little Dog books. I love to read them because they are so joyful and I can see the antics of my "babies" in the characters. These simple stories and happy illustrations can make me feel good on the bluest of days.

A Skunk By Any Other Name... 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

I'm glad I've resumed looking board books lately, otherwise I would not have known that Dav PIlkey has a whole series of "Big Dog and Little Dog" books. Slightly older readers know Pilkey as the very, very funny, but scatologically inclined author of the "Captain Underpants" series. These intentionally juvenile forays into elementary school comedy (underwear, toilets, etc.) are more clever than they sound, but they're perhaps inapproproate for young toddlers. They have enough toilet concerns without worrying about them exploding.

"Big Dog and Little Dog Making a Mistake" has an easily understood outer message--some striped animals are skunks, NOT cats, and if you make this mistake, you might come home just as smelly as Big Dog and Little Dog do. Hopefully, when you return you won;t interrupt some hoity-toity social affair, like the tea and cake party that the two dogs spoil!

HOwever, in this 10-page board book, Pilkey conveys some valuable "inner" messages as well. He doesn't preach, but the story and bright, uncluttered pictures tell us some fairly important things, always in an entertaining style manner.

1. Big and little dogs can get along, despite their outer differences.
2. Dogs (and people) can play and explore together, noticing and talking about the same things, rather than just engage in parallel play.
3. Big dogs, just like little dogs, can make mistakes.
4. Little dogs, just like big dogs, can have bad days.
5. One can depict smelly smells by drawing green smudges on your characters, and wavy green lines emanating from them.
5. It's funny to conclude a story with dogs stinking up the joint.

The progression from innocent walk to unexpected skunk encounter, to the party people knocking over the food strewn table when they smell the smelly dogs, is smooth, logical, and funny. The book is a simple winner for infants and toddlers, and fans will want to look at other books in the series. Who knows--when they're older they might even want to read "Captain Underpants" and other small guilty pleasures by the talented Pilkey.

Editorial Review:

Big Dog and Little Dog are going for a walk. They spot a kitty. Uh-oh. . . . Looks like Big Dog and Little Dog are in for a surprise, and it doesn’t smell good! Irresistible as ever, these two canine chums romp through this welcome addition to the spirited board book series.

lovetobesilly 4 out of 5 stars.

We bought six copies of this book to give as birthday party favors...The invitation says 'They Dumb Bunnies are so dumb, they send the party favor before the party. Read this book, and be prepared for a funny bunny time!'

We love the silliness of this book. It's like Amelia Bedelia for younger kids, and it helps develop a sense of comedy. I only gave it four stars because I cannot make the case for it to be fine children's literature.

It's just fun.

Get your kid to enjoy reading 5 out of 5 stars.

I hesitated to give this book a 5 star rating, since it hardly is a work of "fine literature." However, what pushed me into the 5 star category was the sheer delight of seeing my 6 year old son laugh out loud as he read the pages. If the goal of this book was to get my son to really get into a book he was reading, then the goal was met. The Dumb Bunnies' Easter is great for the K-2 crowd - because the pictures are funny, the sentences and word selection is manageable for them, and the jokes are not over their heads. In fact -the jokes are right at their level - which is often hard to find in the "Easy Reader" literature. For these reasons, I rate it a 5 star book - It is actually more clever than dumb. But it still is pretty dumb! Also - FYI, if I had to pick one holiday to break out this book, I'd choose Christmas time - since most of the references are more about Christmas than any other holiday. It definitely has a Christmas-y sort of feel despite the Easter title.

Editorial Review:

Have a hilarious holiday with the Dumb Bunnies! Momma Bunny is really dumb. Poppa Bunny is even dumber. And Baby Bunny is the dumbest bunny of all. So on December 24th, these silly rabbits trim the tree, stuff the turkey, and wait for the Easter Bunny to bring them presents. The Dumb Bunnies may be a little mixed up, but they always have lots of fun!

The silliest books ! 5 out of 5 stars.
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

Does any one know that Sue Denim is the ONE AND ONLY DAVE PILKEY!He writes the book under the girls name Sue Denim(pseudonym). Funny huh!!I have to say that my kids can't get enough of these books.
No one needs to look into the detail of the book to see that kids read it and laugh. It's funny, and my kids have had a good laugh for the past years that they have owned these books. They never fail to crack up.

3 1/2* Not Completely Bunny 3 out of 5 stars.
4 of 6 people found this review helpful.

...but it is fairly funny. Sue Denim's "Dumb Bunnies" series is full of verbal (and visual) puns and other language-based humor, much of it clever, some of it puerile. The humor can be at a fairly low level, and the adjective "dumb" is not used in any redeeming way. Unlike the similarly confused "Amelia Bedelia" character, the bunnies are neither particularly sweet nor well-meaning; unlike "Curious George," there isn't a tradeoff between mischief and heroics; unlike Homer Simpson, the questionable IQ is not balanced by other personal qualities.

Despite these minor objections, Denim does knows humor for the young set. In this story, the "dumb bunnies" confuse themselves and others during a zoo trip, and generally cause trouble for all. A lot of the humor is in the background zoo signs:"Free Admission. Free Ice Cream. Free Popcorn. All For One Low Price," and "Hot Dogs. Chilly Dogs. Room-Temperature Dogs." Dave Pilkey's illustrations are bright and colorful without overwhelming. A good book for around ages 4 to 7. Note: Although for older readers/listeners, Pilkey's "Captain Underpants" books deliver even more bathroom humor (for those who like that--and I know that many kids do), but they are more cleverly designed and plotted than this book.

Editorial Review:

Go wild with the Dumb Bunnies! Momma Bunny is really dumb. Poppa Bunny is even dumber. And Baby Bunny is the dumbest bunny of all. Join these silly rabbits for a little monkey business at the zoo, and watch them really go ape. The Dumb Bunnies may make a mess (or many), but they always have lots of fun!

This was a pretty good book. This book is mainly about the first time Captain Underpants was brought to life.Mr.krupp was hypnotized by George and Harold. What I liked about this book is the part when Captain Underpants shot the bad guy with his underpants. The part I did not realy like was the way Mr.krupp turns to Captain Underpants.

He used to be Principal Krupp, but now he¹s the crime-fighting, wedgie-dodging Captain Underpants, the only superhero wacky enough to tackle the evil Dr. Diaper. Now available in Spanish.

A day in the life of Dragon 5 out of 5 stars.
17 of 18 people found this review helpful.

Be sure to read this one to yourself before you read it to your kids; otherwise, they won't be able to understand you through your laughter! Some of the humor may be over the heads of young listeners, but Dragon's interpretation of the five basic food groups will appeal to everyone.

Too cute! 5 out of 5 stars.
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

Mind you, I'm in ninth grade, and I originally bought this for the kids I baby-sit for. But after I had read it through the first time, I fell in love with it! I can't wait to read it to the kids.

This is a story about Dragon, who wakes up groggy, and goes about his day doing everything backward. There are some extremely funny parts to this book, and the illustrations are just as good as the story.

Too funny to save for the kids! 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Four short stories that will have everyone laughing out loud! Dragon matter-of-factly bumbles through his day, making perfectly understandable mistakes with hilarious outcomes. Simple text makes it appealing to the very young, while adults will sympathize when groggy dragon fries the morning paper and reads his egg.

Editorial Review:
