Mighty Robot Collection 4 out of 5 stars.

My 7yr old son borrowed the first book in this series from the school library and it was the first book he had borrowed that he read all of it and loved it. So I then wanted to hunt them down for him as he is not an avid reader and these books really grabbed his attention. I highly recommend them for any young reader who can just read chapter books as this will boost there reading and interest. Also Amazon came through again with being the only carrier of the whole set at such an amazing price. Thanks.Ricky Ricotta's Mighty Robot Adventures

Editorial Review:

Is there anything Ricky Ricotta and his Mighty Robot can't handle? In this box set, featuring Ricky and his robot's first four adventures, the world is saved by these two fearless heroes when Dr. Squeaky McNasty unleashes a giant lizard, when really scary mutant mosquitoes from Mercury attack, when nasty birds of prey, the voodoo vultures from Venus, swoop down, and when some real monkey business starts up when the mecha-monkeys from Mars make their way to Earth with nothing but conquest on their minds. This set contains four action-packed books that leave readers cheering for all of mousekind as Ricky and his robot take on the bad guys and make the world a safer place for mice, men, and robots alike!

Editorial Review:

Dav Pilkey hits the halfway mark in this cheerfully ridiculous, easy-reader series that spans the solar system, as Ricky Ricotta's Mighty Robot takes on the Jurassic Jackrabbits from Jupiter.

Little Ricky (a smart young mouse, for those of you just joining us) is having a birthday, and that's cause for some serious robotic celebration. The family--along with cousin Lucy ("a little PEST!")--piles on top of the Mighty Robot for a trip to see dino skeletons at the local museum. Unfortunately, General Jackrabbit, evil ruler of Jupiter's "billions of carrot-loving jackrabbits" (the carrots make the planet orange, you see), has other plans for our heroes. He's hoping to take over Earth, but he knows that first he's got to take down Ricky Ricotta's Mighty Robot. And how better to accomplish that than using the museum's dino skeletons, some of the General's own DNA, and a Meany Machiney to create three big, mean Jurassic Jackrabbits?

There's no doubt that Pilkey can be much funnier when he has more words to work with--witness any of the Captain Underpants books (and Ricky Ricotta is no George or Harold)--but this series at least gives younger readers something fun to do while working on their reading chops. And, of course, you don't have to read a single word to thoroughly enjoy Flip-o-Rama, Pilkey's "world-famous cheesy animation technique," which lets readers flip pages back and forth to animate the action. (Also includes step-by-step drawing tips from equally fun-loving illustrator Martin Ontiveros.) (Ages 4 to 8) --Paul Hughes

Like this series of books 5 out of 5 stars.

My, almost 7 year old, was having trouble reading this summer. Basically, he wanted nothing to do with it. Then, someone recommended this series of Ricky Ricotta's books and he finished 2 books in one week!

I highly recommend for any student who would rather be on the computer in or front of the t.v. The pictures keep them engaged, as well as the short chapters and funny titles.

GREAT Book! 5 out of 5 stars.

My son is 7 years old and absolutely loves these books. When he started reading this series we took turns reading (he would read two pages and I would read one page). He enjoys Ricky and his robot so much that he will just pick up the book and read alone. This is a great series to get boys interested in reading. Dav Pilkey is one of my son's favorite authors thanks to Captain Underpants and Ricky Ricotta.

I am a seven year old boy and I like to read Ricky Ricotta books. This book has something for everyone. There are lots of battles and robots for boys, and girls will like the unicorns from Uranus. The book has a lot of action and the flip-o-rama is cool. I read all the Ricky Ricotta books in less than a week because I liked them sooooooo much.

Editorial Review:

Ricky Ricotta loves his Mighty Robot, but sometimes it's hard for a little mouse to have a best friend who's so BIG. One night, Ricky makes a wish: If only his Mighty Robot had another friend who was his own size so he wouldn't have to hang out with Ricky all the time. Little does Ricky know, his wish is about to come true. Evil Uncle Unicorn has traveled all the way from Uranus with a mean and nasty plan. He's built a giant Ladybot to trick the Mighty Robot so he can take over planet Earth. Once again, it's up to Ricky and his pals to save the day.

Not as strong 3 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

Ricky Ricotta's Giant Robot Vs. the Voodoo from Venus isn't as strong an outing as the previous two books in this series. But it's still a good read.

Ricky and his robot are in trouble at home and lose their tv privileges. This allows them to avoid being hypnotized by a vulture bad guy on Venus who wants to (you guessed it) take over Earth. As usual, Ricky is resourceful and the Robot is strong and the good guys save the day.

Ricky Ricotta's Giant Robot vs.Voodoo Vultures from Venus 5 out of 5 stars.

I'm just nuts for this series of Ricky books that my mommy has bought me. I can't wait till number 4 comes out! The Mecha-Monkeys from Mars.I'm sure my mommy's is getting tired of reading the same three books to me night after night.thank you Mr.Pilkey!!

A Great Battle 3 out of 5 stars.

It was a good book because of the great battle. The voodoo vultures from venus sure did get a a good beating. The pictures are really great. Rickys Ricotta's Robot is really mighty robot. I think Kindergardeners - Second grade would like this book a whole lot.

Editorial Review:

The Iron Giant meets Clifford the Big Red Dog in Dav Pilkey's Ricky Ricotta's Giant Robot, the first book in an illustrated series for early readers. Ricky is a young mouse who needs a friend, is bullied by schoolmates, and is waiting for something BIG to happen. But he never expected the arrival of anything as big as Dr. Stinky McNasty's giant robot, created by the evil doctor to destroy all of Squeakyville. When the robot refuses to demolish the town, however, Ricky steps up to save it from the ensuing wrath of the maniacal doctor--twice! In some very Clifford-esque perspectives, the friendly iron giant dwarfs Ricky's neighborhood, scares crows (and bullies), and allows Ricky's new friends to ride on his back. In the end children will be satisfied to see the doctor's secret cave detonated by the very electro-rocket he wanted to use on his errant robot, and even more satisfied to see the robot depositing Dr. Stinky McNasty into the city jail. (Ages 6 and older)

Editorial Review:

Whoops! When Ricky offers his gigantic robot friend his parents' minivan as a skateboard substitute, neither mouse nor robot considers the consequences. Sure enough, the skateboarders wipe out, and the van is squashed. Now it's up to the "boys" to earn some money to pay for the damage. "Meanwhile, about 35 million miles away on the planet Mars, there lived a mean little monkey who was hatching an evil plan." Good thing for Ricky and Robot, because, well, one intergalactic battle leads to another, and pretty soon these two have earned themselves a brand-new rocket-powered minivan from the general of the Squeakyville Air and Space Association, in gratitude for saving Earth from Major Monkey and his mecha-monkeys.

Young readers will be pleased as punch to see this latest title in Dav Pilkey's series, which includes Ricky Ricotta's Giant Robot vs. the Mutant Mosquitoes from Mercury and Ricky Ricotta's Giant Robot vs. the Voodoo Vultures from Venus, all illustrated with Martin Ontiveros's funny black-and-white drawings. Another winner 5 out of 5 stars.

Again another excellent and fun book by Dave Pilkey. Great for early readers to read all on their own and to read to younger children, especially those who enjoy the Captain Underpants stories. An excellent book for children to learn that reading is fun.

A Whole Bunch of Laughter and Fun 5 out of 5 stars.

If your child (or you) are a fan of Dav Pilkey and his silliness, this book will not disappoint. It's full of nonsense and fun! A great way to keep your child reading.

Kids love it. Parents hate it 3 out of 5 stars.

My kids LOVE Captain Underpants, but I've found out the hard way that they don't make for very good read-aloud, bed time books. Be warned : These books are set up in comic strip form on a lot of their pages and without showing your kids EVERY page of the book while reading it, they'll be lost in the story. They're really good books, don't get me wrong, just not very good read-aloud book unless you are sitting in a circle or prepared to do the 'finger under the word as you read' type thing. My four and six year old LOVE them though.
