This is the BEST Warriors book so far. I read it in one afternoon because it was so good. You should read the other ones first, but when you get to this one, then read it.
I wish you didn't have to wait until April for the next installment! There's a cliffhanger ending. Huge secrets are revealed but I'm not telling which

Editorial Review:

The Clans are in turmoil. ShadowClan has turned its back on StarClan and pledged to follow the dark predictions of Sol, the strange cat who foretold the solar eclipse. But not all the cats have lost faith in their warrior ancestors. . . .

Jaypaw is convinced that StarClan still holds an important place in the warrior code, and his search for answers leads him far back into the past, farther back than even StarClan can remember. Lionblaze, tortured by violent dreams and bloody visions, wishes he had never been prophesied to be one of the three but to turn his back on his littermates would be the ultimate betrayal. And Hollyleaf is terrified that once the Clans lose their faith, the warrior code will fall apart. She's willing to fight tooth and nail to preserve it—whatever the cost.

And when murder stalks into the heart of ThunderClan, the cats realize that the darkest shadows don't always lie outside the territory.

Warriors Rule 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

This book is by Erin Hunter. It takes place in a forest and it is about cats. In the beginning all the cats are training for Leaf-Fall (Autumn.) Then Thunder Clan starts a battle with Wind clan! But when River Clan helps Wind Clan, and Shadow Clan helps Thunder Clan things get strange. All four Clans are fighting! When the Warrior Ancestors get mad, the sun disappears!

This book is filled with adventure, and it features cats from the earlier books, like Firestar, Hollypaw, Lionpaw and Jaypaw. If you like cats and adventure, you'll love this book.

Editorial Review:

Firestar's three grandchildren have learned of the powerful prophecy that foretells their destinies, and the responsibility of deciding the Clans' future weighs heavily on the three apprentices. But each secretly yearns for power: Lionpaw dreams of being undefeatable in battle, while Hollypaw longs to be a great leader and Jaypaw knows only he can see the true past and future for them all. Their strengths are tested when ThunderClan is suddenly attacked—and all four Clans are thrown into a battle unlike any the cats have ever seen.

Then a dark shadow falls across the forest, and a mysterious stranger warns the Clans of more trouble to come. For the first time, it appears that StarClan does not hold the answers the cats need.

All of a sudden, the warrior code is being tested. A crisis of faith threatens to tear the four Clans apart and destroy what the cats have built their lives upon. . . .

Editorial Review:

There will be three,
Kin of you kin....
Who hold the
Power of the stars
In their paws.

A secret prophecy shapes the lives of Firestar's grandchildren, but only one of the three knows about it. Jaypaw is captivated by the power it promises, and he believes the key to that power may lie buried in the distant past -- with the ancient cats who once walked these woods and now prowl through his dreams. His search for answers leads him toward the mountains -- the home of the Tribe of Rushing Water. Lionpaw and Hollypaw feel drawn to the mountains too, for different reasons.

But the mountains hide secrets as well as answers, and if the three cats find a way to get there, they may discover more than they ever expected.

Reviewed by Austin McCredie (age 13) for Reader Views (8/08)

"Warriors: Cats of the Clans" is the story (told to three kits going to StarClan) of some of the most important cats in the Clans' lives that they never knew or would know. From the just ThunderClan to the battle-hungry ShadowClan, you learn some things you have never known or even thought of about the Clan Cats. Erin Hunter gives you new insight about your favorite cats of the Warrior series.

Erin Hunter wraps together many of the Cats spread throughout the series. Many cats we hardly remember are brought back to mind. I myself forgot about some of the Cats and what we remember them for. One of the Cats, Yellowfang, I completely forgot about -- "Brave, loyal Yellowfang, who fought enough battles for nine lifetimes."

I remember every cat now and have learned little details about each Cat that were never seen before. This is much better than the previous Field Guide and puts it to shame with what you learn. This book is complete with maps and full-color illustrations. The writing is from the viewpoint of one of the Cats, Rock. You feel like he is speaking to you. The flow of the book is so good; you don't see it as separate pages, but as one long telling. Although, sometimes I had to re-read something to fully understand what Erin Hunter was saying. The wording is very deep and confusing at points, but it helps add to understanding each Cat.

I am a huge fan of the Warrior series. I started reading the books in about fourth grade and haven't stopped since. The "Warriors: Cats of the Clans" has been a huge help to understanding the Cats a little more than just relying on the actual books to help you. I think this new book from Erin Hunter is a huge help to every true Warrior reader out there. New doors are opened through this book and new meanings to why each Cat behaved like he or she did.

Anyone who wants to re-meet the Cats of this wonderful series should get "Warriors: Cats of the Clans." Cats who we once knew, or that we are now being introduced to, or in the upcoming books, are here and have some things to tell you -- all you have to do is listen.

Editorial Review:

Hear the stories of the great warriors as they've never been told before! Cats of the Clans is chock-full of visual treats and captivating details, including full-color illustrations and in-depth biographies of important cats—from fierce Clan leaders to wise medicine cats to the most mischievous kits, as well as loners, rogues, and kittypets.

This collectible guide is a great introduction to the Warriors series for new fans and is indispensable for those already hooked!

Tigerstar and Sasha 3 out of 5 stars.
0 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I really wasn't looking forward to this book, since the first one REALLY sucked, so I just bought it last week since I am obsessed with having every Warrior Cat book, no matter its rating. I was slightly startled to see that it was a bit better than I'd expected. Sure, it was, by far, nowhere close to a real Warrior book, but it had a kinda engaging plot line and left the reader with a bit of a cliffhanger, when she mentioned her kits being born. That's what I'm really looking forward to, seeing Hawkkit & Mothkit in Manga. Strangely, I read the summary of the next Sasha Manga and noticed that there will be a third kit called Tadpole. So maybe the books just go from dull, to okay, to good and it's going to get more interesting.
No, don't buy it, since it's honestly not worth 6 or 7 bucks for the slightly jacked-up drawings and small thickness, but you could borrow it from a friend or the library or buy it "for your Warrior Cat loving friend" and read it before giving it to them.
Hope this helped

Superb and well done! 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This is the third Warriors series and has completely lived up to my expectations! Warriors is an excellent book to try for children but can also please older children and teenagers as well. Now some people may think that Clans of Warrior cats is a silly idea but it is actually very well done so that you almost believe it's real and the characters become just like people to you...

Lionpaw, Hollypaw and Jaypaw are all apprentices in one of the four clans: Thunderclan. Lionpaw and Hollypaw are both training to be great warriors. But Lionpaw seems to be serious enough about his training to look to an evil cat for the answers and he may become a liar to his clan because of a certain friend he isn't allowed to meet with.
Jaypaw is completely blind and despite the fact that he wanted to become a warrior, is stuck training to be a medicine cat. He's been seeing visions that no other medicine cats can and may be able to walk in other cats dreams.

When a group of Windclan kits go missing, Windclan jumps to conclusions and may start a war with Riverclan just because of it. These three apprentices with the help of some other brave cats must find the kits before battles break out and cats die for no good reason...

Please read this book and maybe even all of the series. They are really quite excellent and many would enjoy them!

Editorial Review:

The three children of Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw, grandchildren of the great leader Firestar, have thrived in their apprenticeships: Lionpaw's strength and energy serve him well as a warrior in training, Hollypaw hones her understanding of the warrior code, and Jaypaw explores his mysterious powers and connection to StarClan as the medicine cat apprentice.

With more experience comes both power and danger: Lionpaw makes a friendship—and a discovery—that must be kept hidden; Jaypaw learns a secret that could benefit ThunderClan by damaging others; and Hollypaw knows something that could avert a battle, if she could convince the rest of her Clan.

The three are torn apart as each discovers darkness: in themselves, in the Clans, and in the past. And, as conflict begins over what it means to be a warrior, rising tensions threaten to overflow, washing away the peace that has existed for many moons.

Kinda stupid 1 out of 5 stars.
5 of 8 people found this review helpful.

These Manga books are just a quick, easy way for the authors of the
Warrior Cat series to make some extra bucks. The books are rip-offs. In this particular one, we see the "good side" of the murderous Tigerstar and learn what a hyprocrite he was to fall for a kittypet, father children with her, and make her hide the truth about herself. It's just stupid. It doesn't even make any sense when viewed in the context of the Warrior Cats series. I commend the authors for trying to add depth to Tigerstar's character, but this was the wrong approach. And the books are small, and expensive as well! I'm all in favor of authors making money, but not like this.

Editorial Review:

Sasha has everything she wants: kind housefolk who take care of her during the day and the freedom to explore the woods beyond Twolegplace at night. But when Sasha is forced to leave her home, she must forge a solitary new life in the forest. Life on her own is exciting at first but quickly gets lonely. When Sasha meets Tigerstar, leader of ShadowClan, she wonders whether she would be better off joining the ranks of his forest Clan. But Tigerstar has many secrets, and Sasha must decide whether she can trust him.

Editorial Review:

There will be three, kin of your kin . . .

The wild cats have flourished in their new home on the banks of the lake for several seasons, and the Clans are growing strong and healthy with new kits. The time has come for three kits of ThunderClan to become apprentices.

Hollypaw, Jaypaw, and Lionpaw spring from a strong legacy: children of Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw, two of the noblest ThunderClan warriors, and grandchildren of the great leader Firestar himself. All three young cats possess unusual power and talent and seem certain to provide strength to the Clan for the next generation.

But there are dark secrets around the three, and a mysterious prophecy hints at trouble to come. An undercurrent of rage is rising against those who are not Clanborn, and the warrior code is in danger of being washed away by a river of blood. All the young cats' strength will be needed if the Clans are to survive.

. . . who hold the power of the stars in their paws.

Warriors 3 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Well, this book is titled secrets of the Clans, but there really aren't many secrets shared. I mean, there are some quiet stuff like cat's point of view on things, but they aren't secrets. There are a few typos, one including Scourge being listed a Blood when he killed Tigerstar. It is long, but some stuff in it I just plain don't like. When it advertised and said, "Full color pictures!", I did not know it just meant the warrior books printed out with no words or smaller picture on it. And there is a lot of stuff we already know- maps and stories, for example. There are some things that I feel Erin Hunter just threw in there to make it thicker, stuff that really is not a secret thing. The stuff in it that I do like, however, are the parts where they talk about cats of the clans. Like how it gives details about the cats before we met Rusty as he mouse hunted- Featherwhisker was Spottedleaf's mentor, for example. It has a few pictures of cats, like Tallstar and Crookedstar. They are small and ink, though. I just wonder- exactly how long have the Clans been running? I thought it must have been for many years, yet the book says that the first leader, Thunderstar, had a deputy named Owleyes who became Owlstar. Owlstar had a deputy who became Sunstar, and Sunstar's deputy was Bluestar. So it really can't have been going on for at least a hundred years, which is what I thought. Anyways, the beginning of the Clans part was neat, and the map that is from the forest to the lake is neat as well.
You should really just go to the library to get this book, not buy it. Though not fantastic, it's not horrible, either.
Have fun,
Moonwhisker
