Fun Charlie & Lola activity book! 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

I bought this for my 4-1/2-year-old, and she loves it! It has the classic Charlie & Lola style, but with things to color and fill in. It has suggestions to try adding fabric and paper to create a picture like the ones in the Charlie & Lola books and shows. An excellent buy--this has generated a lot of creative play time in our house!

very entertaining 5 out of 5 stars.

My daughter finds this book extremeley entertaining.....she is an avid Charlie and Lola fan, I hope to collect many more of the books.

love Charlie and Lola 4 out of 5 stars.

I love all the colorful books in the series we have read. This one is a cute introduction to the tooth fairy and what happens as you get new teeth. I would reccomend it.

For your little artist 5 out of 5 stars.

I bought this because one of my regular charges is 4 and loves to draw. We can spend 6 hours on a plane with nothing but crayons and blank drawing paper! I wasn't even sure what this book was about but if it had Charlie and Lola in it, I figured it had to be good!

It is basically a story and coloring book and Lola leaves blank spots and asks the little artist to help her complete the picture. Plenty of room for looking at pictures, studying how they are done and still room for their own creativity. I can see right now I shall have to order more!

Lola and Charlie are among my favorites as a traveling nanny. I put them in my nanny bag and children like them so much I must often buy another copy as I have left them with the children!

The books have a gentle way of covering values and Charlie is the ideal model of a big brother. I have even used him as an example with a bossy older sibling with "I wonder how Charlie would have handled this?"!

The DVDs are great, making the stories come to life. No fancy graphics, no intricate or soupy sweet over dramatizing here! Just a simple story line with that great little "english" accent we all try to imitate later!

As always Amazon ships quickly and efficiently!

Editorial Review:

Everyone who loves to scribble and scrabble (and what kid doesn’t?) will love this fantastic un-coloring book. The creative, magical world of Charlie and Lola is perfect inspiration for little kids, and with plenty of room to draw, and lots of activities, planets with stripes and silly hats are sure to be just the beginning!

Not like the rest 1 out of 5 stars.

I am a big fan of Charlie and Lola and have the whole collection for my three year old daughter. This book is NOT like the old ones (Excuse me that is my book, Snow is my favorite and my best, I'm not sleepy etc..) The story is a bad, very short version of the TV series and the design that used to be fantastic and creative is limited to text on a block at the side of the image. The price is great, but it's not worth it. (The same goes for I'm an Alligator" and "I can do anything... "
Its a pity because they were unique in their stories and illustrations.

The Lola and Charlie Series 5 out of 5 stars.

Lola is excited because she is going to spend the afternoon with Morten, the little brother of Charlie’s best friend. Lola has planned out the entire afternoon with fun and games, but her hopes are dashed when she discovers that Morten is so shy he won’t even speak! Lola tries everything she can think of to get Morten to break out of his shell, but nothing does the trick. How will Lola and Morten have fun?

One of the best in the series 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

This book makes a great bedtime story. It's fun to read out loud.

In "But I Am an Alligator," Lola teaches Charlie that you shouldn't be embarrassed about embracing your interests and being yourself. It also teaches some fun facts about alligators -- they live in swamps and rivers, lay eggs amd get bigger "than even our table!" Like the rest of the books in this series, the dialogue is real ("This is my favorite fancy dress costume and I'm not ever NEVER taking it off.") and the illustrations loose and quirky.

The story is also included on the DVD Charlie and Lola, Vol. 5 - But I Am an Alligator. If your child likes this skewed humor I'd also recommend the Skippyjon series.

Editorial Review:

Lola has a favorite alligator costume that she wants to wear absolutely everywhere. Charlie tells her she can’t wear it ALL the time, but Lola argues that she can. Much to Charlie’s embarrassment, Lola wears her alligator costume to the supermarket and the park. She even plans to wear it for her school talk called “All about Me!” Can Charlie stop Lola from making a fool of herself in front of the whole school?

Really shows Lola's imagination 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

This sweet bedtime story celebrates imagination and independence.

Brother Charlie is admirably patient with little bitty sister Lola as she insists on doing "anything that's everything all on my own." Naturally this results in problems -- with a computer, a coat buttoned wrong and pink milk on the counter instead of in the cup.

Another consequence, however, is that the little girl's imagination is allowed to soar. When Lola rides the see-saw by herself she never leaves the ground, which lets her notice "lots of interesting things very close and near." The illustration shows a parade of ants -- literally a parade, with the ants dressed like a Mexican mariachi band. When Lola lets her brother and his friend Marv get on the see-saw and lift her into the air, she becomes Captain Lola, and rescues them from imaginary pirates.

Like all the Charlie and Lola stories, the dialogue seems lifted from the mouths of real kids. "I saved you and Marv." Lola tells Charlie, "from the ever so mean pirates!"

Another great book about imagination is the classic Where the Wild Things Are.

Editorial Review:

Today Lola wants to do everything all on her own, but things aren’t as easy as she thought they’d be. In the park, when Charlie and his friend Marv explain to Lola that a seesaw won’t “see” or “saw” with only one person on it, Lola reluctantly lets them sit on the other end. When Lola soars into the sky, it launches her into an elaborate high-seas fantasy where she saves Marv and Charlie from ever-soevil pirates. All on her own!

FIRR-Kids! Review 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Wow! This is the most amazing pop up book! There are tabs on every single page that do all sorts of different things. Of course there is pop up, but also pull down, slide over, twirl around and swoop down. It's so much fun! And being that it's Charlie and Lola, you can read this in a fake British accent while your kids roll their eyes.

As the title implies, Lola likes to stay up late and not go to bed. Charlie must work to keep her on track in spite of her outlandish excuses. Lola can't possibly get ready for bed when there are tigers who pop up in the kitchen needing a bedtime drink, a lion hogging her toothbrush and whales swimming round the bathtub. Not to mention the dancing dogs twirling about in her pajamas and a hippo lounging in her bed. Bedtime is a real zoo around here!

This is an awesome book that offers plenty of hands-on activities for the readers. Each tab is different from the last, so you won't know what to expect when you turn the page. A great deal of thought went into the tabs to make them ever so entertaining - the dogs actually twirl around in the bed and the toothpaste pulls out in a squiggle. In all, a great big oversized book with a ton of fun inside!

Editorial Review:

It's bedtime for Charlie and Lola, the hilarious siblings from I WILL NEVER NOT EVER EAT A TOMATO.

Night owl Lola likes to stay up coloring and scribbling and wriggling and bouncing and chattering. Lola never gets tired. How can big brother Charlie convince her it's time for bed? Heralded by the WASHINGTON POST as "a delightful new voice in children's books," author-illustrator Lauren Child splashes her offbeat sense of humor and unique artwork all over this bedtime story. Laugh out loud at Lola's imaginative antics, but save a cheer for kind, patient Charlie, the big brother we'd all love to have.

Editorial Review:

Lola is convinced that this is the year that she’ll finally be tall enough to ride the “Super Duper Loop-the-Looper” rollercoaster. But when Charlie measures her on a growth chart, it shows that she’s still too small. Lola tries everything she can think of to make herself bigger, but nothing does the trick. Will Lola be stuck going on kiddie rides forever?

Editorial Review:

Lola is a very fussy eater. Carrots are for rabbits and peas are "too small and too green." One day, after rattling off her long list of despised foods, she ends with the vehement pronouncement, "And I absolutely will never not ever eat a tomato." Not convinced, Lola's older sister Charlie has an idea. She tells Lola that the orange things on the table are not carrots, but "orange twiglets from Jupiter" and peas are in fact "green drops from Greenland." Mashed potatoes, when pitched as "cloud fluff from the pointiest peak of Mount Fuji" suddenly seem appealing to Lola. And in the end, might she even eat a tomato?

Lauren Child's wacky, expressive sketches of Lola and Charlie (much like those in Clarice Bean, That's Me) are cut out and superimposed on all sorts of textures and patterns from wallpaper to wood. Fuzzy, enlarged photographs of bowls of peas, or fish sticks, or big carrots are pasted right on top to great effect. This funny, endearing look at how children's tastes can be based more on preconception than taste buds is sure to infuse levity into the daily dinner-table struggle. The author's dedication? "With love from Lauren / who is keen on Marmite / but would rather not eat a raisin." (Ages 3 to 8) --Karin Snelson

The cutest kids ever! 5 out of 5 stars.
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

My granddaughters in Australia are keen fans of the Charlie and Lola books. In their case life imitates art since they have a big brother who's just as nurturing as Charlie is!

In fact I first heard this book read to the girls by their teen-aged brother, and the experience brought a smile to my face.

Lola's impulse control is not great, and in WHOOPS! BUT IT WASN'T ME she again tries Charlie's patience -- this time by breaking his handmade, prize-winning rocket. But the details of the story aren't so important as the gentle example for little ones. Kids see that Lola is loved no matter how outrageous she is, and Charlie models patience, negotiation and resourcefulness. Nice lessons slipped in with a fun story.

Lauren Child's sweet stories and delightful illustrations charm children and adults alike. This is my favorite (so far) of the Charlie and Lola books.

Editorial Review:

Big brother Charlie is happy to share his toys with Lola—but his handmade, prize-winning rocket is off-limits! When temptation becomes too much for Lola, she tries to take down the rocket—and it falls and breaks! Can friendship between brother and sister get put back together again?

The book has super cute and fun pages. However, the stickers are really thin and hard to make them reusable. On our first go with the book we ripped 2 of them, and we were being very careful. Great idea, but needs improvement!

Simply perfect! 5 out of 5 stars.

We just can't get enough of Charlie and Lola these days. This book and all the other in the series are really neat. Lots of stickers to decorate as you follow the story. All stickers are removeable. We do a page a night, and it's such a treat for my daughter before she goes to bed!

Highly recommend.

good fun! 5 out of 5 stars.

Great Product 5 out of 5 stars.

We purchased this when going on a flight with 2 connections and 2 kids under the age of 6. Both were able to play with it and it was fun for me when I helped out. This book really lets kids be creative.

Editorial Review:

Lola absolutely refuses to get her hair cut! With some gentle probing from Charlie, Lola overcomes her haircut fears, and both kids get their trims and look great!

TV deriviative - not Lauren Child 2 out of 5 stars.
6 of 6 people found this review helpful.

The Charlie and Lola books actually authored by Lauren Child are far more charming and imaginative then the tv episodes in book form that have been churned out lately. My kids find them mostly forgettable, and keep turning back to the Child originals. The TV books are much less about Lola's highly active imagination, and more about everyday events. Small children basically live inside their imaginations, and so are less interested in how well Lola can concentrate. "I am Not Sleepy and Will Not Go to Bed" ,for example, in which Lola imagines dancing dogs, whales in the tub, a toothbrushing lion, and so on, has been worn out by many, many bedtime readings.

Editorial Review:

It’s Field Day at Charlie and Lola’s school and each student is allowed to choose one activity in which to participate. Charlie, Marv, and Lotta all quickly find activities that they’re good at, but Lola struggles to find one to suit her. Lola eventually chooses the egg-and-spoon race and succeeds at it by really, really concentrating.
