Mastering Sudoku 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

A great book for beginning information, however, on the more difficult solutions, it would have been beneficial if they had given more examples with solutions.

52 steps = 52 weeks? 3 out of 5 stars.

The methods this book has are helpful but the format isn't easy to use. The numbers it uses in the illustrations are a light green with a green shading for background and they aren't block numbers but curvy. The result is numbers (candidates, or pencil mark numbers in the cells) which are difficult to read. On top of that, when they're eliminated they're crossed through, so now you have small, crossed-out, non-block font numbers in green on a green background. This is the best they could do?
Also I found the explanations to be fairly vague and had to read the notes next to the figures/illustrations to try to figure out what the technique actually was which was being illustrated in the lesson. So, it lacks clarity.
As to the "52 steps; week by week" I don't get it. Please don't tell me you'd actually spend a week getting through one "step" in the book; that it would take you a year to get through the whole thing?!

Editorial Review:

The hotter-than-hot puzzles, now in a format just for kids! Youngsters who want to start solving can have fun with these smaller sudokus that are right on their level. Instead of the usual sudoku grid, which goes from 1 to 9, most of these puzzles go only from 1 to 6.  It’s simpler, increases the chances for success, and minimizes frustration. At the same time, children are building their skills—and preparing themselves to work on the 22 regular-size versions that are found at the end of the book. An introduction teaches the basic sudoku rules and offers easy-to-follow hints on how to figure out which number goes where.

Highly recommended 5 out of 5 stars.

The book is great for young kids. It is the only Sudoku book that I know of that has solely simple 4x4 puzzles. Although the puzzles are categorized as Easy, Medium, and Difficult, most of them are simple and easy to solve. Smart 4-year olds have solved many of the puzzles in the book. Children of 6 years of age solved most of the puzzles while 8-year olds can solve all the puzzles.

I strongly recommend this book for children as well as adults. One distinct feature of the book is the variety of Sudoku puzzles that are included. It even contains Sudoku puzzles with pictures of animals - dogs, cats, and fish.

Editorial Review:

This is a book containing Sudoku puzzles for children in kindergarten - ages 4 - 8 years and up. All the puzzles in the book are 4 x 4 Sudoku puzzles designed specially for these children in mind. Sudoku rules are easy - each number 1, 2, 3, and 4 must appear only once in each row, column, or block. There are 80 puzzles in the book categorized as follows: 48 Classic Sudoku, 8 Alphabet Sudoku, 8 Shape Sudoku, 8 Symbol Sudoku, and 8 Animal Sudoku. In addition, there are 7 example puzzles that are solved in a step-by-step manner. The puzzles are of three types - Easy, Medium, or Difficult. The solutions to all the puzzles in the book are available at the end of the book. The book has a website at www.KindergartenSudoku.com where you can download and print additional puzzles like the ones in the book.

Not my favorite 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I love Nintendo's Picross and wanted some paper versions of the grid puzzles for airplanes and for more puzzle variety. I purchased this book along with paint by sudoku, and have to say I prefer the other book. This one isn't bad though, the puzzles are arranged one on a page with cute titles that hint at the final picture, and are rated easy to hard in ascending order. I haven't gotten past moderate level puzzles yet but so far I'm unimpressed with the pictures. The easy puzzles are relaxing and fun to do, but I've had to look up the answers several times just to find out what thing it is that I just drew and make sure I did it correctly.

Duplicate gift 4 out of 5 stars.

I had given this puzzle book to a woman who is an ardent sudoku puzzle worker of hard puzzles. She liked the book. I wanted to give her another book of these puzzles. However, it was the same book. After so many months, I expected a new book would have been published. but no. My fault, I guess and a disappointment.

Editorial Review:

Imagine finishing a Sudoku puzzle and getting a picture of a cat, fireworks, or even a movie star, instead of a box of numbers. That's what happens when you finish an O'Ekaki puzzle! Once you start filling in those squares, you won't be able to stop. It's the puzzle game millions of fans aroudn the world can't get enough of.

My daughter loves it! 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

My 6-year old daughter got this book for Christmas after begging to do the puzzles in my book all the time. She loves doing the puzzles, even though the 4-square/easy ones are a little too easy for her. However, the easy ones were a good way for her to understand the concept behind the harder ones. Very nicely put together, using letters, numbers & shapes.

Highly recommended 5 out of 5 stars.

This is a great book on Sudoku for kids. The book includes 162 puzzles. The puzzles are of various sizes: 4x4, 6x6, and 9x9. The solutions are at the end of the book. There are no categories or levels of difficulty for the puzzles.

There are no pages in this book for strategy, hints, rules, or tips. The book has various types of puzzles like Classic Sudoku (with numbers), Alphabet Sudoku (with letters) and Symbol Sudoku (with shapes and symbols). For a book that is dedicated to simple 4x4 puzzles, check the book "Kindergarten Sudoku".

The coolest puzzle craze that's all the rage! Fill in the grid so that every row, every column, and every 3x3 box contains the digits 1 through 9. It's fun, challenging and addictive!

This is simply another great collection of sudoku puzzles. This one will make a great holiday gift as it was very recently released and it's likely that your favorite puzzler will not yet own it.

Of special interest are the super-sudoku puzzles in this book, they're definitely not for a coffee break: you'd better have a good block of time available to work them out!

My favourite puzzles 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 5 people found this review helpful.

I really like these bigger Sudoku puzzles, since the regular ones are a little too quick to solve. This book has enough puzzles to last you a looong time. The first book was great and this one looks like it's keeping up the same quality! Very good!

Editorial Review:

Sudoku is the number-placing puzzle that is spreading across the world, engaging the minds of people of all ages. The rules are simple, you don't need to know any mathematics, all you need is logic. Samurai Sudoku puzzles are like traditional Sudoku puzzles but with five interlocking Sudoku grids. This book contains 100 of these massive puzzles, including solutions. All the Samurai Sudoku puzzles in this book are symmetric. The rule is the same: Each row, column and 3x3 box in each puzzle grid must contain the numbers 1-9 only once. All puzzles in this book are hard, however the puzzles get progressively harder and the puzzles at the end may be considered very hard. This book is for those who feel ordinary Sudoku puzzles are too easy or too quick to solve and want more challenging puzzles. These puzzles can take hours to solve and if you solve two of these every week this book will last you a year! Have fun!

I Hate This Book 1 out of 5 stars.
2 of 4 people found this review helpful.

This is the worst Sudoku book i ever tried. It's supposed to be so easy to use. A mathematician wrote it, and forgot how to write it for the average person. The rules are complicated, and the grids have the alphabet all around it supposedly to make it easier to place the numbers. It's not it's more confusing. What the author should of done was a few example puzzles step by step showing how you arrive at the correct answer as well as showing it. The grids need to be larger as well as the book itself. Format matters when you're trying to learn something or have trouble learning. I ended up throwing this book away. For me it was a waste of money and not worth it. I give this book 1 star.

Editorial Review:

From the Board Games Editor at BellaOnline.com 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

If your family, like mine, has noticed a discernable lack of breakfast table conversation since the sudoku craze hit the United States, and your kids seem a little bit put off by the fact that Mom and Dad both have their noses buried in a sudoku, why not quiet them down by shoving this lovely little book under their noses?

In all seriousness, though, this is a great sudoku book for kids or beginners, as is the Kids's Book of Sudoku 1, its predecessor. The puzzles start at VERY easy and move to what an adult's easy-intermediate level would be. Remember that math skills are not necessary for sudoku-it's a logic puzzle which just happens to use numbers (they're used entirely symbolically) so if your kid hates math, they still may very well enjoy this book.

Again, this is not JUST for kids, people who've never tried sudoku before may enjoy this book as it starts off at a super-basic level.
