Wild Sudoku 5 out of 5 stars.

Will Shortz sudoku books are the very best for avid fans. The format is user-friendly -- large, well-marked grids. The puzzles themselves are great and, in this book, quite ingenious. I highly recommend this book.

I bought the Sumdoku book for my Dad's birthday. He just turned eighty and loves Sudoku and Sumdoku. The Sumdoku has a little more challenge to it.

Editorial Review:

From the bestselling author of Super Sudoku Books 1 & 2 and Super Easy Sudoku comes a new twist on Sudoku and more fun to play than Kakuro.

Two-cell sum clues and regular Sudoku number clues add up to a very interesting puzzle, yet one that is easy to grasp and fun to play.

GREAT FOR LITTLE PUZZLE PEOPLE 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

My 3.5 year old has loved jigsaw puzzles since she was 1 - she can now easily do a 100 pc puzzle. So the next step for her was Sudoku which she watches me do. Loving stickers, this is a perfect match for her - puzzles+ stickers. I have to help her w/ the first 1 or 2 placements, but then she usu finishes the puzzle. I've bought more to help hone her skills

Sudoku Diego 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This book of Sudoku is great for young children ages 4 or 5 through 6 or 7. They start understanding the rules for Sudoku and seeing patterns. This book includes extra stickers in case of a mistake. Children of the appropriate age love these books. It is too bad that the stickers are not coated with Post-it-Note glue instead of the permanent type. The book goes fast, and then you have to buy more books.

Djape creates the best killer sudoku puzzles 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I have all of Djape's Killer books. Check his website [...] for his daily puzzle creations. Since discovering the killer Sudoku variant, I have abandoned the traditional "vanilla" Sudoku. The killers are far more interesting, challenging, rewarding ... and addicting. And Djape publishes the best killer puzzles IMHO.

Editorial Review:

Same format, same difficulties, NEW puzzles! Another sequel in the Killer Sudoku series of books from DJAPE. Brand new puzzles, with the same intensity and intricacy as the old ones. There are no trivial puzzles in this book - the accent is again on moderate and difficult puzzles. Contents: - 100 Killer Sudoku - 10 Killer Sudoku X - 10 Killer Sudoku with diagonal cages - 30 ZERO Killer Sudoku (blank cages)

A decent intermediate level book 4 out of 5 stars.
8 of 8 people found this review helpful.

If you enjoy solving logic puzzles and you'd like to sharpen your mental arithmetic skills, then these are the puzzles for you. These puzzles are similar to Classic Sudoku in that you have to place the numbers 1-9 uniquely in each row, column, and box. The difference is that a Killer Sudoku puzzle is also covered with dotted outline "cages", each of which has a number that indicates the sum of the numbers within the cage and the numbers within the cages must also be unique. There are many techniques that can be used to solve these puzzles, and discovering them is half the fun.

This book contains a two-page Introduction, three pages on "How to Solve a Killer Sudoku", a one-page "List of Unique Number Combinations", 50 Easy puzzles, 35 Medium puzzles, 10 Difficult puzzles, 5 Deadly puzzles, and Solutions. The format is one puzzle per page and the puzzles are a good size (3.75" x 3.75").

The "How to Solve a Killer Sudoku" section gives a fairly minimal explanation of some simple techniques. One of the most important techniques (The Rule of 45) is not even mentioned. If you don't figure this one out you'll have a hard time completing a lot of the harder puzzles. For an excellent explanation of Killer Sudoku solving techniques, see Djape's book "Sudoku K (Killer), Volume 1".

In each section the puzzles tend to progress from easier to harder. There are a couple of hard puzzles in the medium section. A couple of the deadly puzzles are slightly harder than the hard puzzles; the others are about the same as the hard puzzles. I would have preferred fewer easy puzzles and more medium and hard puzzles. Overall, I think this is a good book for intermediate solvers and beginners who learn quickly. For advanced solvers who are looking for more of a challenge, check out Killer Sudoku Online. The Greater Than Killer Sudoku puzzles are especially fiendish.

Editorial Review:

If you thought Sudoku was difficult wait until you try Killer Sudoku!  The next step up from normal Sudoku, these killer puzzles use the same grid as Sudoku and require the reader to fill in the numbers 1 to 9 as before.  But this time the numbers in the outlined boxes must also all add up to a specific number.
With five difficulty ratings, from 'very easy' to 'deadly', the 100 brand-new Killer Sudoku puzzles in this book will provide a challenge to the most ardent Sudoku addict.

Misleading Cover, very disappointed 1 out of 5 stars.
5 of 7 people found this review helpful.

This book is misleading and I am extremely unhappy with it. I searched Amazon for Samurai Sudoku and this book came up. The cover displays a Samurai Sudoku so I naturally assumed that the book was a Samurai Sudoku book. But it aint! Out of 275 puzzles, only 50 are Samurai Sudoku - a total waste of money if you are looking for Samurai Sudoku.

Not quite hard enough ... but great entertainment! 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

When you get right down to where the rubber hits the road, there are a very limited number of things that one can say about a book of sudoku puzzles.

That said, Michael Mepham's "Jumbo Sudoku Challenge" is a pleasantly diversified set of tantalizing Sudoku challenges. The paper quality is wonderful and stands up to multiple erasures. The oversize format allows for lots of temporary mini-number entries. The variety puzzles such as Killer Sudoku and Samurai Sudoku are plentiful and equally challenging. There are also enough of them that one can actually hone your skills and begin to develop solving strategies that are deeper and more subtle than blunt force. The book's thickness means that right-handed people will encounter some difficulties completing the puzzles on the left hand side of the page and vice versa. But, frankly, that's a minor cavil because adding something like a spiral binding to make the book lie flat would also increase the cost of the book substantially.

I just wish that "hard" consistently meant "hard" and "fiendish" always meant "fiendish". In this case, "hard" seems to mean "mostly hard but some medium" and "fiendish" means "mostly fiendish, but sometimes merely hard". Whatsamatter for you guys? I know you can build fiendishly difficult puzzles! Too bad, that! So I guess what might have been a five-star review is going to have to be limited to four.

Highly recommended.

Paul Weiss

No easy puzzles 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Having become impatient with most sudoku book that devote a third of their space to easy puzzles, I was happy to find this one that has medium to hard puzzles. Through solving them I learned more about how to solve sudoku and have moved on to the author's 'fiendish' book.

I didn't find these to be difficult at all 2 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Let me start by saying that I thoroughly enjoy killer sudoku problems, and I have quit doing normal sudoku. This book was given to me as a gift, and I breezed right through it. I did not find these puzles to be difficult at all. If you are used to sudoku puzzles, you will find that these can pretty much be solved using basic principles, and they won't present much of a challenge to you.

Bottom Line: If you are just getting into sudoku, you might find this book worthwhile, but if you've been doing them for awhile, I doubt you'll find this book to be a challenge at all.

Highly recommended 5 out of 5 stars.
6 of 6 people found this review helpful.

This is a great book on Sudoku for kids. The book includes 150 puzzles. The puzzles are of various sizes: 4x4, 6x6, and 9x9. The solutions are at the end of the book. There are four levels of difficulty for the puzzles.

The first four pages in this book are dedicated for strategy, hints, rules, or tips. All the puzzles in the book are Classic Sudoku (with numbers). There are no Alphabet Sudoku (with letters) or Symbol Sudoku (with shapes and symbols) like the two books "Kindergarten Sudoku" and "Super Sudoku for Kids".

Editorial Review:

Now kids can enjoy the puzzle that keeps their parents' minds racing and pencils sharpened.  This edition, designed for children 8 and up, begins with a sudoku lesson from Will Shortz and very easy 4 x 4 grids to warm up.  Then young solvers advance to more challenging 6 x 6 grids and finally tradition 9 x 9 sudoku puzzles.

· 150 all-new sudoku puzzles
· Four difficulty levels including smaller "kid grids"
