While the price was good and delivery was free, you get what you pay for. Don't get me wrong there was nothing damaged in the packaging but the packaging for these miniatures were the original booster boxes but they were sent in a manila bubble wrap lined envelope and the boxes got smashed but nothing was broken. I am assuming that was the price for free shipping to cut down on cost and they did arrive a week later than estimated. Would I order them again at that price most likely but don't plan on getting them when promised.

Field of Glory provides the historical tabletop wargamer with a new, accessible rules set. With no new high-quality games system aimed specifically at the Ancient and Medieval wargamer for over 10 years, this product will fill the gap in this market. Wolves From the Sea provides an accessible, detailed gaming companion, covering the forces of conflicts during the Dark Ages. It includes a well-designed, visually stunning and comprehensive army listing, with detailed historical overviews of each army, supporting maps and Osprey artwork.

A Warning... 2 out of 5 stars.
3 of 4 people found this review helpful.

I have been a long time collector of Axis and Allies Miniatures and was looking for a less expensive alternative to fill gaps in my collection. 1939-1945 booster packs were NOT the solution, although less expensive the armored fighting vehicles are of a different scale. The tanks, and wheeled vehicles are quite detailed and the frequency of finding what you need are improved, but you can NOT use these miniatures with the minatures from the other expansions. For example a U.S. M4 Sherman from 1939-1945 booster is almost the same size as a German King Tiger from earlier expansion sets. Quite a disappointment, and I hope that Hasbro/Wizards does not continue with this in future expansions.

Celebrate the return of Drizzt Do'Urden!

Some legends are born out of darkness.

Drizzt Do'Urden grew up in the underground city of Menzoberranzan, home of the drow--a race of twisted, evil dark elves. However, Drizzt was unlike other drow. He fled the Underdark for the surface realm, where he befriended the human barbarian Wulfgar. Together they battled the most terrible threat ever to ravage Icewind Dale: the white dragon Icingdeath!

This Dungeons & Dragons(R) product includes:

3 figures--Drizzt Do'Urden, Wulfgar, and Icingdeath the Gargantuan White Dragon--in scale with other Dungeons & Dragons Miniatures Game collectable figures (prepainted, fully assembled, durable plastic)
1 fold-out, illustrated battle map
5 full-color game stat cards, including epic stat cards for Drizzt Do'Urden and Wulfgar
A booklet containing a scenario that rekindles the classic battle between Drizzt, Wulfgar, and Icingdeath, as well as an exclusive excerpt from R.A. Salvatore's newest Drizzt novel, The Orc King.

Shabby, low-quality junk! 1 out of 5 stars.
3 of 11 people found this review helpful.

There's a good reaason why this brand-new product has already had its price slashed by more than 50% -- it's shabby, low-quality junk, bad even by Wizards of the Coast's abyssmally low standards. The most egregious problem was that there was almost no facial detail on the humanoid figures. Some of the so-called "rare" and "uncommon" figures which I received didn't even have eyes painted in! How hard is it to get a ten-cent an hour Chinese wage slave to poke a dab of paint on the "face" (read: "shapeless blob") of a figure which costs a fraction of a cent to produce? These figures are "rare" or "uncommon" only because Wizards deliberately under-produces the most desirable figure types to create an artifically high demand on eBay and elsewhere, creating an artifical market so that people will buy these packs in bulk and then break them up for sale as individual figures. Other sets have held their value through the years, and it IS possible to turn a profit on some figures, but that sure as h*ll isn't happening with "Desert of Desolation" -- a 50% price cut shows that the bubble has burst. Stay away from this set, folks. Buy "War of the Dragon Queen" for really nice figures, and don't think for a moment that D&D minis are an "investment" -- by the end of 2008 you'll be able to trade pogs for them. (Remember "pogs"? Weren't THEY a good investment? D&D minis are headed for the same garbage heap.)

Editorial Review:

Iconic characters and creatures from the hostile wastelands of the Dungeons & Dragons(R) world.

Cruel deserts and hostile wastelands hold creatures as nefarious and horrifying as any found in the darkest dungeons of the world. Can the champions of civilization hold back the monstrous horde spilling forth from these untamed lands?

This latest D&D Miniatures Game release includes several remarkable D&D characters and popular D&D monsters. Several figures are drawn from key D&D titles, including the various Monster Manual(R) supplements. Select figures also come with a second stat card featuring epic-level statistics.

Each box contains:

8 random, pre-painted, plastic miniatures, stat cards, and a set checklist.

Editorial Review:

Re-fight some of the bloodiest battles of the ancient and medieval worlds! Seasoned wargamer and author Neil Thomas brings historical perspective to the hobby with a description and interpretation of significant military developments from 3,000BC to AD1500. Wargaming is the simulation of accurate historical battles using miniature figures to fight over three dimensional terrain, their movement and combat being regulated by clearly defined rules. Neil Thomas' new book provides specific coverage of ancient and medieval wargaming, thanks to its division into biblical, classical, Dark Age and medieval sections. Each section has its own set of rules and much expanded army lists. The wargamer gains additional perspective from data panels containing facts about weaponry, personalities and chroniclers, and quotations from original document sources. Useful suggestions for further reading are also included, while battle reports in each section provide tactical insights for both novice and veteran wargamers.

Similar to Axis and Allies Miniatures 3 out of 5 stars.

If you have Axis and Allies Miniatures (the land version) don't expect something totally different with War at Sea. Although there are some minor differences (how to win, how to kill, how to survive, the way aircraft work), the game isn't radically different. It is, however, shorter and takes less dedication of time and mental energy to play. I got the Starter Set and one booster for Christmas but even then, with fourteen units, I could not play the full game. I still needed one or two more packs. Also, although Axis and Allies Miniatures can be played very easily without combining maps, it is far more necessary with War at Sea; you really need to do some table measuring with this one. Overall, I have to say I was a mite disappointed by this game. Still, now that I have it, it will be nice to play a much shorter version of Axis and Allies. If you don't already have Axis and Allies Miniatures, however, this might be a good choice over Axis and Allies Miniatures, especially if you are more into ships of war than tanks and men of war. You do, however, need the Starter Set. You can't play at all with just boosters. For Axis and Allies Miniatures people, however, I'd say just buy more boosters.

Filled in a nice gap I was missing in WFRP 5 out of 5 stars.
5 of 6 people found this review helpful.

Great sourcebook for me. I love the explanation of a Dwarf Hold and the surrounding city that grew up around. I knew of Kara Azgal from playing a "Mordheim" scenarios and this sourcebook brought the place even more to life. Additionally it provides some real nice stuff on dungeon delving. Something I have done in D&D stuff, but not very much in Warhammer. In fact I plan to use Karak Azgal to start a new campaign with a bunch of d20 players. They will be a bit familiar with dungone delving and will allow them to transition into the game easier.

A good resource for role-players 5 out of 5 stars.

Karak Azgal is a sourcebook for the Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay game's Second Edition, detailing a dwarf-run city in the mountains. It combines adventure hooks aboveground in the city built over the ruins of the dragon-destroyed dwarf city, and in the underground passages below.

Editorial Review:

This adventure and setting sourcebook for Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay contains maps of the city and its mines and caverns, extensive tools for creating adventures in Karak Azgal, detailed lairs for a variety of monsters, and new terrors.
