A fascinating insight into the Bible's message 5 out of 5 stars.

This is the best interpretation of the Scriptures according to Jungian psychoanalysis. It is recommended to everybody who has doubts in the dogmaic Chrisitan way to read the Bible and it is a source for individual wholeness for those who try to find it in the Scriptures.

After seeing all the positive reviews on here I had to try this book. I can tell you they are all true.

When I first started reading I wasn't too sure considering much of the first chapter I was familiar with. However as to be expected Ego and Archetype proved to be enlightening and inspiring. If at any point you have studied Jung and was interested in the process of Individuation. Or if you are looking for a guide to living a healthy meaningful life this book should help.

While this book could easily be considered a self help book it should be not confused with most books out there. The information in this text makes Ego and Archetype worth more then its mass in gold.

I would like to suggest that before reading this text however (if you are new to Jungian Psychology) to read at least "Man and His Symbols" and if you can "The Undiscovered Self" as well. These will at the least give you a basic understanding of where Edward Edinger is coming from.

A must read for anyone who feels abandoned, thinks they know it all, are a spiritualist, or religious.

I can only wish I had been graced with the knowledge in this text sooner.

This is an excellent book. I was given this book by my father at a very young age and it has helped to form my view of the world and how it works. Although dated in some aspects, if you read it from the perspective of "what rings true for me" and take that with you it will serve you well.

This book has been around a long time. This is a classic book that explains how our thinking creates our reality. Just change your thinking if you want to be a different person, create better health, create wealth, create greatness. It will inspire you and help you understand that most of our shortcomings are our own thinking.

Ms Sabini affectively organized Carl Gustav Jung's thoughts and reflections on Nature and Man. It is insightfully edited and gives an excellent view of Jung's thoughts on mans separation from Nature and our own roots.

A good read that is not "rough slogging" like some Jung texts. Highly recommend.

I wished for years to see what Jung wrote about the natural world and our relationship with it in one volume that would spare me the hassle of going through the Index to the entire Collected Works. This is that book. Check out the Table of Contents (click on the book logo above to see it) to get an idea of how clearly organized this book is. I use it in graduate courses for Jung and ecopsych students. Highly recommended.

Carl Jung says he has analysed more than 2.000 dreams per year, a very impressive number by anyone's standards. In his Dreams book, which a very good collection of many of his dreams experiments, he is after demolishing some Freudian's dreams concepts, mainly the one which asserts that the purpose of dreams is to fulfill infantile sexual wishes repressed in the unconscious, which don't find adequate outlet trough conscious activities.
To add content to this dispute, one has only to have in mind that Jung was a very ardent disciple of Freud in the beginning of his career, but the relationship turned sour after 1914 in the figthing for prestige at the foundation of the Psychanalisys in the beginning of the 20th century.
In Jung's view, dreams are not only wish fulfillers, but they are also compensatory vis-a-vis our daily conscious life. So, the purpose of them is to balance our conscious and unconscious life. So, if life is good, dreams are bad and vice-versa. At the end of his life, Jung said in one of his testimonials that by means of a very representative dream he closed a circle, which meant he got a balanced mental life between unconscious and consciousness.

Also, dreams should be taken not as isolated entities, but rather as a series of concatenated manifestations of the unconscious, something which could be represented by the ancient mandalas (Sanscrit for circle) of many peoples from the ancient world (mayas, hindus, polinesians, etc...), where the ultimate end is to attain a balance mind. Jung's theory of the unconscious is, in my opinion, pretty much more attractive than Freud's, specially in what it regards the timelessness of the unconscious and the unconscious collective.

Reading "Dreams" after reading Freud's "Interpretation of Dreams" is a magnificient experience and the winner is surely the reader, who gets the most of two of the most proeminent and polemical psychanalysts of all times.

This is a fantastic book for anyone interested in the study of human or non-human behavior in lab or field settings. The authors pack nothing but the vital basics in this guide. They cover topics such as research design (sample sizes) and data analysis (parametric vs. nonparametric stats). Reading this book is a great use of your time if you're considering research on animal behavior.

This book is a perfect introduction to the field of behavioral data collection. I purchased this book for my first behavioral study of captive primates and it was extremely helpful. If you have never conducted research in this area, this book is a must have.

BB&C is one of the only titles in English that covers the emerging modality of Bodynamic developed by Lisbeth Marcher. For those interested in trauma, especially developmental trauma this is a good start to an important therapeutic approach. Other modalities are covered including articles by Peter A. Levine Ph.D. developer of Somatic Experiencing.

This book has gone a long way toward helping me bring some key issues in my life and dreams to consciousness. Having read a lot of Woodman's writings, I'd have to say this may be her key book.

After reading the review written by the reviewer below I'm reminded of the fact that the Jungian way of thinking is not for everyone. Those who tend to take life events, stories, dreams, and personalities literally will probably think this book is loopy. However, I have found that the use of archetypal images and themes in exploring my life goes a long way toward getting at the depths of who I am without explaining away the mystery or reducing myself to a one-dimensional being.

Woodman is a brilliant archetypal thinker. This book is so dense with good stuff that it is impossible to absorb it all in one or even two readings. Well worth having around to read over and over again

I first discovered Marie-Louise Von Franz in her collaboration with Emma Jung in their extraordinary book "The Grail Legend", which is by far the most intellectually coherent book I have ever encountered regarding that material, in which they place those strange and surreal stories in the framework of a Jungian perspective on the history of consciousness. In these lectures on alchemical symbolism, Von Franz applies many of the same Jungian techniques to explore some important alchemical texts.

I especially appreciated her decision to explore three texts in depth, rather than simply presenting a survey of alchemical literature, since there are numerous other books that do that. The fact that this is a transcript of a lecture series actually adds a wonderful dramatic tension to the book, since it includes some encounters with the attendees that demonstrate both her tremendous humanity and her impressive understanding of the subject and its relevance to modern psychology.

One of the most provocative concepts presented is the danger of an individual experiencing an overload of revelation from the unconscious, with its accompanying challenge of integrating more insight than a mere mortal can manage. Von Franz explores this concept especially well in the discussion of the text by Thomas Aquinas, where we learn about his very stressful final years in a very moving lecture that continues to provide me with much to ponder.
