From back cover:
"'From Colonial to Liberation Psychology: The Philippine Experience' is an expansion and update of the monograph entitled 'Indigenous Psychology and National Consciousness,' which is mainly based on published and unpublished 'sikolohiyang Pilipino' materials and documents written in the Filipino language. An English overview of the research literature, historical studies and commentaries in Filipino and English, as well as a description of the philosophy, goals and activities of 'sikolohiyang Pilipino' in English, should prove useful to the interested English reader.
In 1987 - 1988, the Institute for the Study of Languages and Cultures of Asia and Africa, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, provided generous support to make the writing of a manuscript on the organization of indigenous social psychology concepts of the Philippines possible. The resulting manuscript was the monograph entitled 'Indigenous Psychology and National Consciousness,' which tackled both the sociological context of academic indigenous psychology in the Philippines and the substantive organization of indigenous psychology concepts, world-view and values on the basis of an integration of the 'sikolohiyang Pilipino' literature and analyses of 1) group interview data using the collective indigenous method, and 2) taxonomic structure of linguistic data using lexical elicitation frames, dictionary entries cross-validated with native speakers of the language, and the subject-index categories of the 'Sikolohiyang Pilipino' Resource Collection of the Philippine Psychology Research House."
